Doors are evil, you need X-ray vision and arms like Mr Tickle to fit them up! You can buy a tool for fitting weather strip clips, but it’s just a U shaped bit of sheet steel with a handle on so making one from scrap would be significantly cheaper. I rebuilt my Herald door cards by pulling off the old vinyl and fitting it to suitably cut bits of thin marine plywood. Might be an option if it won’t flatten out. I’m curious about what the little round sticker is on the window, they’re the sort of little bits of history I love finding on cars.

Yeah, I left the round sticker delibrately. I cannot remember what it said now but always nice to have those bits

Hi Henry, you may get yours on the road before mine makes it....I had good luck on the door cards of my Porsche using a layer of fiberglass to reenforce them...episode 31 on the porsche 924...

I'm sure the handles you bought are the correct ones Henry to wind the windows. The hexagonal shape does connect & match what is on the door and the hole in in the centre is for the final screw. Nice to see you back at it buddy!!

Thanks Chris, that’s interesting but it does mean my winder mechanisms have been modified at some point because they’re an oval connection

@@HenrysGarage Can you see the hexagonal nut behind the oval connection,they were recessed into the door somewhat, I'm thinking that the oval keyway was added onto it, if so you may need to cut them off and drill and tap the handle securing screw hole.

Or maybe the hexagonal male part was cut down to fit the adaptor for the after market electric mechanism, in which case it’s going to be a bit of a bugger getting the winder handles to fit.

Window winders look like Allegro ones to me.
