Triumph Speed Triple 1050 S - abba Superbike Stand and Front Lift Arm Assembly and Demonstration
In this video, I show you step by step how to assemble the abba Superbike Stand and Front Lifting Arm and put it through its paces to see if it’s as easy to use and as rock-solid as abba say it is.
Dropping Your Bike Isn't Fun!
After once dropping my motorcycle trying to lift the rear wheel off the ground using a Paddock Stand, I decided to hang the stand up in the garage and leave it there. A couple of years later I bought a new bike, a Triumph Speed Triple 1050 S, and I started looking for a replacement stand as my new bike had a single-sided swinging arm. Apart from the old stand wouldn’t fit my Speed Triple, I was afraid of dropping my bike again.
What I wanted was a stand that I could easily use by myself to lift the back and front wheels of my motorcycle off the ground and give me the confidence I wouldn’t drop my pride and joy.
When visiting Motorcycle Live exhibition, I discovered abba Motorcycle Equipment and was impressed by its claimed, simplicity, rock-solid stability and ease of use.
But how secure and easy to use would it really be and could I confidently use it by myself to lift the bike in the air?
In this video, I show you step by step how to assemble the stand and put it through its paces to see if it’s as good as abba say and I hoped!

Very informative video again Phil. Especially pleased to see the review of the stand for the speedy. I'm always happier having real life reviews of products instead of "reviews" from magazines etc as I'm never sure to trust them. They wouldn't have mentioned the parts breaking for a start. I think I may be one step closer to purchasing a stand for mine after this. Fab video Phil 👊🏼🙌🏼

I’m looking forward to creating a series of cleaning and maintaining your bike soon and will putting this stand through its paces, but as I mentioned I’m impressed with its build quality and ease of use. It has been mentioned to me that the paddock stand on a single sided swinging arm bike is a lot easier to use because of the way it locates in the rear wheel! 😁👍

Had my abba stand for a couple years now, makes maintenance so simple! On a side note, how'd you find the pilot road 5 tyres when pushing the bike on a dry day? Previously using the pilot road 4 I found then to be too soft but have been told they sorted this with the 5 tyres...

I bought an Abba stand last year but have not had to use it as my bikes have a centre stand. So why did I buy it? Well I was thinking of removing the centre stand from one bike as they are pretty heavy and want to reduce over all weight of the bike. Also I just bought a Speed Triple RS which as you know doesn't have a centre stand so will finally get to use the Abba stand. Your video has been useful although I knew the Abba was pretty straight forward to use. I was umming and arghing over whether to instead get paddock stands front and rear but you also need more space for these to position them and to make the lift. The Abba stand attaches to the middle of the bike. It's a top quality product and good vfm. Would have loved an Abba Skylift but cannot justify the price nor do I have the space. Many thanks.

They are good , but I still think it’s a lot of faffing , when you’ve got a single sided swing arm , I find it much easier and a lot quicker using the rear paddock stand that slides through the spindle . Safe as well as the bike never moves with the action of lifting it up compared to when using bobbins . My brothers got an ABBA stand and he rates it too 👍

Hi. I’ve had a couple of people say that the paddock stands are much more secure on a single sided swinging arm bike and agree they will be quicker to use too. Don’t forget you can do a lot more maintenance with the abba stand and add more sections to it if you want to. I may get a paddock stand one day to compare. I must admit the bike also looks very cool on a paddock stand, I urged on the side of caution in this case as I was afraid of dropping the bike. 😁👍

I have sussed it the bolt would normally go through the frame as one long bolt on this model a 19 plate R/S It appears to have two short bolts from either side, and has a large locking nut at the end of each bolt, unfortunately it’s not spanner friendly and can only be held by your finger while turning the hex bolt,I’m leaning towards leaving it for now cos if I dropped the nut I’m in big trouble, need to work a way of doing this….oh boy!

Good video phil. I realise this maybe isnt what youd expect but this video has showed me this is not for me. I prefer a paddock stand after watching this as i was about to buy the abba. The fiddling about, setting up the abba stand both sides and then you go to lift the bike from the left whilst holding the bike upright, bike moving forward and your trying to push the stand back looked a little sketchy. A paddock stand can be the sketchy if not done correctly but i just think its far easier and quicker. Pin through the wheel and push down...job done. Also if you want to wash your front wheel the paddock stand can be easily pushed forward to do this. The abbas solid once its up unless you buy the extra front wheel lifter. See this for how to do paddock stand for single sided. It literally takes 10 seconds kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6VkvI-Mn6iWfaw.html
