Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS Preview

This preview is not a paid advertisement but done by a bike rider that has 25+ years of riding experience. This is my take on the bike without any influence from the manufacturer.
I’m not going to get into what everyone else is talking about, that while important to Triumph and maybe fanboys, but the Speed Triple has retained a lot of its original looks and character even though the bike itself is all new.
According to Triumph they have centralized and lowered the mass of this bike even down to the low exhaust. The only thing about that is I hope there is an aftermarket alternative that is smaller and shows off that gorgeous single-sided swingarm
Horsepower is rated at 177 with 92-foot lbs of torque which gives it an awesome power to weight ratio.
The torque curves that Triumph is releasing show that there is no real loss of horsepower and torque down low and that this thing should pull like a whipped mule!
-Sure there are other bikes out there that have a few more ponies, but what I like about Triumph’s claims is that they thought a lot about what a naked bike is for and kept the weight down, and worked on getting low end, pull away from a light power for everyday use.

Got my thumbs up on this review! I remember some important roads here in Miami Florida being closed down to film the commercials for the new 1200 triumph and i was able to hear that BEAST of a motorcycle at a distance. Amazing looking naked bike, cant wait to test it out!

I live very close to the Hinckley Triumph factory here in England and we are proud of what the development engineers have done with this bike. Every nut and bolt is new compared to the old model. They've had ex racers as development riders so I'm sure this bike is going to handle, I think it's closer to an upscaled Street Triple now. Will it tempt me away from my super reliable (and very quick) MT10? Only time will tell. I think it's a great looking bike and should be a great success for them. I'm hoping they put the engine in a new Tiger Sport (They did a 1050 Tiger Sport here for many years but not sure all countries got it)

Great...thanks for the input...it's great to hear from someone that is at the core market for this bike.
Sounds awesome on paper but I would have to see it and hear some reviews Be hard to give up my MT09 for anything else right now

DAVE ARGENTINA it’s really tough to gauge a bike of this caliber on paper. The other thing is that at this price range you had better jump in the ring swinging as their a bunch of prime heavy weights ready to knock you out.
I am also seriously considering this new Speed. Hope it is made in the Thailand and will be sold cheaper in my country with lower import duty
