Triumph “Slimline” Gas Tank by EMGO
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
One of the many challenges when restoring a vintage Triumph unit 650 twin is finding a good, useable, and repairable gas tank
In this video, Kyle will unbox, review and fit a new Triumph unit 650 "Slimline" gas tank
This tank is manufacture by EMGO, in Taiwan
I personally think that this EMGO gas tank is SOLID and is perfect for an everyday rider or a restored bike - just needs prep and paint!
Fits all Triumph 650 unit twins from 1963-1970

Our pleasure!
The ONE repro thing ALL my vintage Triumphs need are petcocks that don't freeze up or gum up. A maintenance/restoration video on that would be very helpful.

Good video! That brace under the front of the tank is a great addition and Triumph did that on the oil in frame models to prevent the tank from splitting back when we used to ride our Triumphs really long distances. I remember 45 years ago getting my freshly painted tank welded at a tire shop high in the Rocky Mountains on a trip out to the west coast. Another friend had his tank welded in Saskatchewan. They crack around the tunnel. All the pieces you used were brand new. I would have like to see you fit an original set of tank badges; they don't fit well on the Indian tanks. The Emgo tank has a much more accurate shape than the Indian ones. Why can't you use original trim?

Shape is different which is why you can't use an original trim (the top contour) Thanks for watching!
So I am considering this tank for my Tiger, would you say the tank is very similar to the larger Tiger tank?

Not as slim as the T120R tank but not as wide as the TR6R - it’s in between
Do you think the tank badges are a good fit , They are a poor fit on a stock tank , big gap at front spear on badge to tank . Just Sayen

They look better on the EMGO tank

@@classicbritishsparesjust curious. I rebuilt a 68 Triumph and spent a lot of time making that tank right. Welding pins and pulling out dents. Still had to skim coat with some body filler. The option to chrome is there with a perfect new tank if you want to customize. Thanks for the video.
looks pretty fat for a slimline....just sayin.
