I am getting one! And, as I live in British Columbia, Canada, with 10's of thousands of highway km's, I also ordered a +1 countershaft sprocket for those highway slogs getting to our hundreds of thousands of Km's of logging, mining and lumber trails here. I had been in the Honda camp, but I think this Triumph has so much more style, and, as I ride slowly, being 71 years old, I'm not ever going to push it hard.

Hey everyone I am an owner of scrambler 400x in Mysore, India, purchased in Feb 1st week. No doubt it's an amazing motorcycle. But I seem to have a lot of issues with the electronics of it. Let me explain in a bit of detail hoping that the message reaches the right people in Triumph. The day I got my first service done, the same evening my motorcycle wouldn't start at all. It was fixed by the service center stating that there was an electrical contact issue with the immobilizer. Went on a long ride (about 1700 kms) and while on the ride, I had instrument cluster/console issues. Speedometer fluctuations starting happening and it stopped working. Riding at a 120 kmph but speedometer showing Zero :PP Resulting in stoppage of reading of odometer, mileage (dynamic and average), distance to empty etc. Did not clock almost 700 kms because of this. Meanwhile, front ABS braking issue had started. Rejection of application of front brake. Almost caused an accident because of it. This was fixed by stating that a bolt in the front wheel was loose and it was overlooked during PDI (pre-delivery inspection) 2 weeks later, engine starting issue (immobilizer related) has started again. No fix found yet. Service center states that it's a software problem... It's frustrating honestly. Anyone facing this internationally, kindly do let me know if a fix is found.

I have three other Triumphs and just picked up the 400 about three weeks ago love it not only is it a triumph. It’s a great motorcycle. It’s fun it’s light. It’s maneuverable great mileage. Wonderful on dirt roads in the city and back roads and not too bad on the highway. I’m still breaking it in but it’ll do 70 miles an hour at 6000 RPM.

Im breakin-in mine too. 1200 km incl oil changes at 200 and 1000 km odo. I get 85-90 kmph at 4500-5000 rpm. That tacho is tough to read accurately. Maybe she will ease up with more mileage, but right now the engine response doesnt encourage me to go over 100kmph..60miles So theres no top end punch....but suspension, steering geometry, riding ergos, brakes too..cant complain about these

Rode this bike in Madrid in february. Great looking bike and fit an finishing are very good. The engine is very quiet, does not vibrate, has enough power and fantastic low rev torque. It breaks well and ergonomics and comfort were perfect with my hight and weight (1,71 m, 63kg). Clutch is light and everything is very smooth. Stability is nice and you feel the 19" front wheel. I would recommend this bike to my son and even to an advanced driver. Fantastic value-price ratio.

I waited 5 months for it I owned a KTM 390 Adventure for a couple of years and sold it as I wasn't using it enough off road. You touched on the Scrambler’s stance relative to the ergonomics for riders of different height. Another big consideration is that the Scrambler stance also visually matches better with larger riders. I’m a taller rider and once owned an air cooled Bonnie SE. With its 17” wheels it was substantially smaller than the T100 and Scrambler versions. I sometimes thought I looked like an ape humping a football. I ended up selling it on in favor of dimensionally larger bikes.

It needs the option of tubeless spoked wheels before I'd consider going off road with it & going off road is what a scrambler should be able to do. I think the same about the competition, too.

Best looking in the class by far. The engine lacks a little performance. A shame it isn’t closer to the maximum 47 allowed bhp in the learner class. I hear from a few owners that the durability of the finish on the engine casings and other areas isn’t the best. I think you’ll need to be diligent with the AF50 or the equivalent anti corrosion treatments.

Just as i suspected going into watching this video. As soon as i saw the numbered pros vs cons list, i predicted right away that the cons would almost 100% be associated with the fact that this is a BUDGET, smaller displacement bike. If you look at the price of this bike, and what it offers all around, those cons are practically irrelevant. This thing is a HELL of a value for the price.

I bought one of these recently, very disappointed with this bike, when I went to remove the grab bar to fit my gear sack frame, one of the hardened bolts snapped off in the sub frame, unable to remove it,took it back to the dealership, they had it for a day, and somehow got the broken bolt out, now I've got a helicoil fitted to that area of the sub frame, the dealership didn't let me know this ,I had to discover it myself, then after that I had some greasy finger prints on the black plastic of the Speedo ,I used a soft cloth with a tad of water based degreaser on the cloth,I wiped over the plastic cover and woosh the black finish on the plastic cover came out, only in various sections, in the end I had to dismantle the Speedo rub back the black plastic and respray the whole piece, when I took the Speedo off the metal bracket, there's 3 self tapper screws that hold it on the plate, all should have a metal washer ,mine only had one washer ,two screws had none , I've still not received a new bolt from Triumph ,and haven't heard from them re the black finish on the Speedo plastic, it all stinks of cost cutting, never again will I buy a Triumph, even the spare parts bloke said that they're a nightmare to get warranty cover from, my new bike is currently for sale, I'm going to buy a new cfmoto mt 700 ,I'm confident that this will be a better quality bike and dealer, be warned, the price is forgotten long after the quality remains, hope this helps save some other poor sod from disappointment like I've had, never again Triumph 👎👎

You seem to like owning several bikes, why not give the garage building an overhaul, extend it some how so you can get bikes in and out without having to juggle them all. Can be expensive depending how you extend but there might be cheap ways of doing so. Maybe add a large Asgard shed to keep a couple of bikes in? I have one and it's excellent! Maybe have one just for the goldwing as that's your largest bike. (Plus the build of the shed could be good youtube content) I keep thinking of a second bike and i could fit another in my shed but I'd have less room if i want/need to work on 1 bike and i probably would have to juggle them about depending which i wanted to use. And would i be put off riding one cos i need to move the other to get it out and would knowing that put me off bothering to go out in the first place 🤷‍♂️ I love my speed twin and keep thinking of chopping it in for the Z900 RS, your vid hasn't help my decision cos i love the speed twin for all it's character but the Z900 RS would be more comfortable for me being tall, but i don't know if i could give that character up for comfort! Your vid has given me more things to think about though, maybe i should test ride a Z900 RS again 🤔

Planned a testride with Trident 660 and 400X to replace my too heavyweight Tiger 900 RP. Planned to buy the Trident, but didn't. The amount of fun was nowhere near what I had during the test of the 400. The Trident is a fine bike but with my riding style (rather civilized, defensive) it turns out quite boring. The 400 X was just fun, I even drove past the dealership to ride it longer. I must add I almost never do highways. And the brakes are a bit lacking when you are used to high spec brakes. It seems true that 'riding a slow bike fast is more fun than riding a fast bike slow' (not that is really slow)

Nice review. Looks like a good bike for lots of folks and riding styles. I have to laugh, though, whenever "off-road" comes up. No, it's not a trail bike and while I fully understand why you have to caveat in this way, wow, those off-road riders really need to get some perspective. It's an "all road" bike, which is what most of us want. Well done.

To big seat height for me, being a oldie with bad hips , but saw it in the flesh last week at my dealers and looks well made for me . Thinking of getting the Speed 400 instead because where I live on the iow , if you get out of third your in the sea 😂😂 + there’s lots of great b roads and winding bends . Ref the brakes , they are Brembo but their smaller bike ones . Ps the scrambler in green looks brilliant 😊👍😂

So I have had my 400x since January and so far, so good. Had a 5 year break from motorcycles, having sold my 2004 boney before covid. It was the first one in ROI as far as I know. Still running in so not fully up to speed, but has plenty enough performance for legal speeds. It feels lovely and light compared to my t120, 60kg+ less, which should see me into old age. I looked at the new himi, the fantic caballero and the husky, but the value, style, size and overall quality, sold it to me. The only a couple issues for me. The gearing in first is very low and I usually pull away 2nd gear and it gets a little vibe at motorway speeds ss a result. I'll look into changing a sprocket to give it longer legs. Also the brushed aluminium surfaces could do with an ACF50 coating. The radiator guard and it's fixings are showing rust already. The lack of accessories being a new model is a pain. Small things, easy fixed. Overall I'm really happy and glad to be back on two wheels !!

I'm short, probably best to buy the Speed 400. If you need more power the Speed 900/ Scrambler 900 is available. I wouldn't buy the Honda, the exhaust is weird looking, the Scram 411 is almost perfect except for the engine power. Personally I'm going for the Speed 900 or T100. Still the new 400 is an amazing bike for the price.

Good review and a great looking bike, but you’re way out on the price difference to a RE Scram 411. They can be had for under £3700 brand new now. Oh, and it’ll get to 60/65 with no trouble at all, at around 4500/4700 rpm

I just got my 400x and I have to say I'm disappointed in all these reviews saying "I mean I guess you could take it on a well manicured gravel road if you wanted to" dude that's literally the DEFINITION of a scrambler is to take a street bike and modify it to be an offroad beast. Tell Steve McQueen he can't take his 500lb motorcycle offroad? Nah, this bike is PERFECT for taking off road once you put some decent tires on it. I get it's a sponsored video but ditch the Metzelers and get some dual sport tires and this bike SHINES offroad! I'm running Shinko Golden Trial up front and a Kenda Trakmaster II in the rear and having an absolute blast offroad. is it as good offroad as a Honda CRF300 rally? NOPE! but I don't need it to be- it's more than good enough to go everywhere I want to go including on streets and blue ridge parkway, back country roads etc. I rarely ever rode highway even on my 1300cc. Anyway all I'm saying is if you want to go offroad dirt, mud, single track whatever you want- just get some decent tires and GO! Triumph 400x with a metal bash plate is GTG.

Not fair comparing this with the RE Scram 411, which is an old model and has been replaced by the 450. I have watched a few Indian guys doing races between the Triumph 400 X and the Scram 450 and the Scram is consistently faster accelerating and has a slightly higher top speed. TBH, for me the RE is probably a better choice.
