Notes about the OEM handguards. They aren't very strong. Many report that they smash in after only 1 drop. It's a heavy bike so get some stronger guards.

The brake pad is spiked on both sides because you turn it 180 degrees to raise or lower it

You can leave the fob in the fork lock - the key won't come out until you turn it intentionally. The key fob doesn't add convenience - to your point. It only adds security as the bike won't start without the key within one meter of the sensing unit. The key fob is frustrating - but for such an expensive bike you have to have an electronic immobilizer of some sort. . . if the fork lock, seat lock and gas lock were electronic it might add more complexity, expense and perhaps weight. . . I take the spare key and put it under the seat and then immobilize the fork and disable the engine when parked. . . but who cares because that motor is a burly monster and riding it is amazing and challenging. One thing to note is that the is 40lbs lighter than the. FORTY POUNDS!

This isn't the review that comes in the end. However I did take it off road in the first ride.

The tyres are the same as found on the tigers, and in answer to your how well they hold up off road.... they don't. They are OK on dry dirt and gravel..... anything else you may aswell be on any other street tyre.absolutly the fist thing I would change before hitting any trails. They are however great on the road, warm up nice and quickly and have a very predictable corner feel.

I had takened if off road in the first ride before this. I mean they work ok but as I said in that video I always use road tyres off road.

@@spicy110 I saw, and it held it's own. You pretty much approached the limit of where I would be comfortable on those tyres, with that weight and power in those slightly moist conditions. I've had a tiger 800 for about 3 years now, weighs about the same, similar geometry and same wheel dimensions, best thing I ever did was swap the tyres. Went through a couple of options. Tried the pirelli Scorpion rally STRs, which were an improvement but the rear didn't clear damp mud at all, but road handling wasnt massively compromised. Eventually arrived at some mitas E-07s took a while to get used to the vague road feel on the front tyre, but how often do you actually Kane it with knblies on anyway? But they held their own, and offroad there wasn't anywhere my friends went on their wr-250 that I couldn't follow.... albeit at a slightly more cautionary pace. One thing the stock tyres had going for them was they last a really long time, got nearly 9,000miles out of mine, got barely 6,000 from the scorpions rear and both front & rear mitas were ready for a change at around 5,000. So it's not win-win and how many other people are stupid enough to chase down legit dirt bikes on an ADV for fun?
