Triumph Rocket 3GT Review | The Ultimate Cruiser?
A test ride and review of the 2022 Triumph Rocket 3GT, is it the worlds ultimate cruiser motorcycle?
The new Rocket 3 was updated in 2019, with the world largest production engine ever put in a motorcycle. A 2500cc triple engine with 221Nm of torque, it is an absolute beast.
Triumph then came out with the Rocket 3GT, a more comfortable cruiser styled motorcycle ready for longer distance rides. What is it like to ride and how does it compare to more traditional styled cruiser's? Lets find out.

i have a 2020 GT version of the Rocket coming off a Kawasaki GT1400 very fast motorcycle but after 4 years riding it i saw the Triumph new version of the Rocket and fell in love with it and man ive made the switch and WOW what a powerhouse of TORQUE right at 2k rpm the the rev limit it doesnt stop pulling like a fraith train just incredible.There not one day when i ride the Rocket that i havent have a thumbs up from people in the street its like having a FERRARI you get so much attention people who come up to me to talk about my bike it just a blast .Only complaint i have about the bike it when you try to fill her up to have the tank full its not easy and quite messy you have to pay attention at the end off the fill up because its make like a bouillon and have a tedancy to spill on your tank.sorry for my english im french, hi from Montreal Quebec

Hi Angus,This was the review that I had been waiting for and I was going to request it. That said,I really enjoyed the video and how you reviewed this majestic beast. It oozes character and is outstanding in beauty and performance which is unmatched by any other make of motorcycle. The Triumph dealership near me sold 23 of them in a year so when one passes me,it grabs my attention and interest. I must get on board and fire up the rocket. Have a great Sunday Angus👍

Good review...I'm on my 2nd GT now...had the 2020 and now the 2022 Triple Black GT...love them!...You have got to adjust the suspension to suit you..get the feet positions right and ride!..The bike just drops into corners with a little counter steer and grunts out the corners with all that torque...Triumph got it right with these bikes for sure!

I've just bought a 2021 GT Triple Black and wholeheartedly agree with everything you've said here. It's a bike that ought to be more than a little scary but yet it has impeccable road manners. I've called mine Black Beauty because it's just so dark and mysterious yet so dependable but it cat half get a trot on when asked to 😯 😀

I'm 79 years old and my R3 is the best of 28 bikes I've owned. The quick shifter is a MUST and works PERFECTLY up and down.....Triumph should have made that stock...not an option! You must get the mid control kit to get the pegs to the mid position although you can move the forwards back about 1 1/2- 2" which has been fine even for my 29 inch inseam. My bike is a 2021 so maybe the 2023 allows the forwards to move back to mid? There are faster bikes, there are more comfortable bikes, there are more nimble big bikes but nothing puts it all together like this R3! Smooth as silk, fast as hell and solid as a rock! The quality of the build is not mentioned much but it is truly excellent!

The CBT didn't quite go as planned. I haven't "failed" but did run out of time. Still got to do U turn on the pad ( I've done it on their road network) emergency stop and polish up signalling and lifesavers. About an hour they reckon. Then I can go on a live road and do Element E. They said I'd pass it. I just needed breaks more often. The first day was on a Kawasaki Eliminator but I couldn't get it round tight corners and my arms hurt so much the next day, I went onto a moped and I bloody loved it! So I'll complete it on an automatic and learn the gears ( easy) when I get The Monkey 😄 So nearly there!

I've owned my rocket for about a month. I've ridden many different types of motorcycles throughout my life. It is tough to say which one is better than another, because depending on what's being compared, it's just not a cut and dry thing. Do I love my KZ1000, absolutely! Do I love my rocket? Are you kidding me? I have never ridden anything like this machine. Every review, the reviewers will almost always say that they never ridden anything like it. I live in the foothills of Yosemite, and I just got home today from about a 4-hour ride. Many, many twisties. The rocket, she's big and bad, that bike will go low to the ground! The part to be concerned about, is when you throw back that throttle, the torque will blow your mind! I've owned a Bonneville, BSA, many versions of Kawasaki's, Honda's. They're all different. But I am going to say this here... If I only could have one, it would be the rocket. Lol. But, I'm fortunate I can have more than one!

Stunning bike, although I prefer the Rocket 3 R. In 2009, I think it was, I took out a test Mk 1 Rocket lll Roadster. I thought it would be difficult to lift off the side stand, but it was easy with the weight carried so low. That Rocket is my favourite one. So much torque, so easy to ride. I considered buying it. When I jumped back on my Buell Ulysses, it felt like a toy. On reflection, the Roadster would have been too heavy and not economical enough. I stuck with the Buell. Good review.

Very nice bike. Speedy questions: Next time you're at the dealer - could you ask if there's any way to add an inch (give or take) of travel to the speedmaster suspension? Also, how long can you ride before you need a break? I'm now thinking Speedmaster (for the weight and price) - Indian Springfield (think of it as heavy Speedmaster bagger) - or go full touring Indian Pursuit.
@redangrevival

Sure I will try to remember! A good option would be to swap the rear shock out for an aftermarket shock. Lots of people have done this and say it makes a good difference. 2/3 hours ideally! Bearing in mind I have a back pack on! You will probably be more comfortable on the big Indian for longer distances, however the less weight on the Speedmaster is a huge bonus.
Luckily you can get a quickshifter, which happens to be one of the smoothest in the industry!

Nice review of a nice bike, but a pity about the dirt on that huge radiator, and that's from riding on dry roads, imagine if it had been raining! I don't get it, do people really love these tiny, non-functional mudguards, since motorcycle producers fit them to all their bikes? Unfortunately, with a 32.4 miles to the US Gal, and a 4.8 US Gal tank, the autonomy is disappointing for a GT Bike. I live in Texas, and have completed my second year of Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas. There are a lot of areas in Texas that have few gas stations, and 150 miles is my refuel mark for my Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans which average about 40 to 44 mpg on a 5.4 US Gal tank. Alpine to Big Bend entrance 100 miles+ will require the full tank of the Rocket 3, with nothing to spare. You will need to refuel at Terlingua, on a conservative ride. As soon as you leave the highways, you may experience the running out of gas anxiety. Don't get me wrong, I love the Rocket 3GT, especially in red. But having to refuel every 100 miles for safety would kill the joy; at least for me.

How is the rocket3 compared with bmw r18?
@redangrevival
Жыл бұрын
Very different. The R18 is a much more raw experience and laid back riding style. The Rocket is very clinical in its power delivery and much faster!! In short the Rocket is more performance orientated, the BMW just beautiful!

@@eusebiubacosca6528 As BMW released R18, I felt in love immediately. But then, in showroom, I was disappointed. I could not find comfortable sissing position on R18FE, seat was tooo low, engine toooo close to legs, it was impossible to shift the gear up or down and also press rear brake. Also I did not like the small tank. I've chosen R3GT and after 12000km I am absolutely sure that it was the not good choice between R18 and R3 but best choice in current offer of motorcycles. Few days ago I was in BMW showroom and tired R18B, was much more comfortable than R18FE, but too heavy and I don't like the fairing at all.

I agree it is a muscle bike, however I feel that a lot of people who buy them will use them for cruising! Also the name "GT" implies it has been designed for longer distance rides

I think it’s a pointless bike. They could have made a proper touring version of this bike, for 2 up to give Harley and Indian a go at the cruiser market. They had a touring version of the older version that sold pretty well in North America…

Fair enough. I actually prefer the GT to the R model. I do agree that Triumph really need to make a large cruiser to compete with HD and Indian. I think the rocket is too performance oriented for this. Common Triumph lets have a big traditional cruiser please!

Pointless, lol. Its the best all around cruiser on the market. I can tour with the Harleys and play with the sports bikes in the twisties. Tell me one important thing your ride can do that the Rocket cant do better or at least compete. 🎃

What is "proper touring version"? Something ugly looking, like Corbin did? Why do you think it is necessary to make a mega-scooter for pensioners out of a bike where every detail oozes power and testosterone? There are lot of people who don't like the fairings, bags and huge passenger seats. I think, US is not the target for Rocket. Triumph tried it with previous model but not very successfully, now they hit the target perfectly. Lightweight sporty traveling is what the Rocket is for. It offers similar feelings like hypercruisers but with much much higher comfort and usability.

The old Rocket 3 Touring was a flop in the US, I know because I owned one and traded it for a Roadster. That bike was FUN..I rode it 80 mile to work every day. I now have two HD CVO's in my garage, but am considering a new Rocket as well because I loved the 2014 so much...
