Perfectly nails the illusive combination of gorgeous classic cool and practicality. Anything less practical of a bike is just an expensive toy IMHO. I think My Royal Enfield INT650 w/E22N plastic Monokey cases is at least 91% as cool as Mystletainn, but yeah, these cases can make lane splitting slightly scarier :)

I switched down from my Triumph Tiger 800 XC SE to the 2020 Bonneville T1200 and really miss my hard cases. I am thinking about buying cases for my T120 but wondered how the fit on the bike, especially with my BC mini cone pipes which slightly angle upward. Thanks for making this video because finding info for hard cases on a Bonnie is slim to none.

Does the bike handle any differently? Do they feel large? I was looking slightly smaller, 30-32 L boxes.

I don't do any crazy maneuvers with my bike but they feel like they actually make the bike more stable. It still feels just as nimble as when I didn't have the panniers on. They do make the bike wider than the handlebars so I do have to take that into account when filtering.

I have the British Custom cones, the cones slip on and point upward about an inch. It looks like the cases sit wide, outside the area of the exhaust pipes so I am thinking that I won't need to be concerned about my pipes hitting the bottom of the cases if I install. thoughts? Thanks so much.

Thanks for the great video. Question, would polling be comfortable seating with side cases installed?

Thanks for watching! The T100 is a very comfortable bike to begin with so I would imagine that long-distance touring wouldn't be much of an issue for the rider. As for the passenger, I'm not sure, but I do know that the side cases don't interfere with a passenger's riding position.

Looks great, I just got a 2020 T100 my self. I'm looking forward to equipping some Givi panniers in the not to distant future. What is the story on that headlight guard? The only ones I can find go with the street scrambler.

Thanks for watching! As for the headlight guard, it actually is the one listed for the Street Scrambler, part number A9838244 to be exact. They have the same diameter headlight.

Excellent video! I think the bonnaville frame is used across the full bike model lineup, including the scrambler’s. My hope is that I can add these panniers to my high exhaust pipe XE covering with clearance for the exhaust pips on the right side. Does anyone know if this Alaska frame kit will mount onto the Scrambler’s?

Thanks for watching! The mounting rail only has about 4-5 inches of clearance from the frame of the bike so I'm not entirely sure if that's enough space for the Scrambler's exhaust. On a side note, Givi makes a T100/T120-specific top-box mount that the Alaska rails can mount to if you didn't already have the Triumph grabrail and rack. Givi does not make a Scrambler-specific Alaska mount but they do offer a Scrambler-specific top-case mount. Though I can't say for sure if this would work or not.

Thanks for posting this! How much clearance is there between the exhaust and the bottom of the cases? I want to install this on my street twin (mounting points look the same) but my only concern is the upswept exhaust might hit the cases.

Looks like Givi was aware of that potential issue and they don't have a Street Twin-specific mounting rack for any of the Monokey side cases. They only offer the TMT6407 rack which is only compatible with the smaller, lighter-duty MT501 Metro-T sidebags.

I was talking to someone working for Givi the exhaust is an issue but mybe if you switch to slash cut exhaust it wouldn’t be an issue. I want to do the same.

The exhaust is not an issue. It has about an inch of clearance.

Thanks for the vid. I'm here because I'm trying to see if this bike is suitable for a round the world trip, with a pillion. I'd love to see a pic of that pannier system with someone sitting on the back. What do you think? Is it viable with those cases?

I've never actually had a pillion with me for any considerable amount of time so I have no one to ask. But, for what it's worth, when I sit on the pillion seat in the garage, the cases don't get in the way (and I'm pretty short). The passenger's legs have clearance all the way down to the pegs, but this is with Triumph's Low Comfort Seat. I can't say if it will be different with any other seat. With that said, I think the seat would be a bigger concern than the cases. Hope this helps!

That was my question, I have FOX Shocks with res as well British Custom slip on cones which turn upward approx an inch from the direct straight line the stock pipes run. Is there spacing of the rack that sits the cases out enough to clear? Thanks.

There is about 4 inches between the bottom of the case and the highest point of my Vance & Hines pipes. There is also and about 5 inches between the bottom of the sidecase mounting rail highest point of the muffler. Additionally, the mounting rails extend out about 2 inches, so there is room for the rear shocks. The bottom of the case sits about 3 inches away horizontally from the muffler. Hope this helps.

Hey I have the same bike and panniers but I got the new dolomiti cases that mount the same way as those Alaskas. I'm having difficulty mounting them though. have you ever had that? I push the cases onto the mounting point but it never clicks in. Would appreciate any tips if you have any...

I can think of two possible issues that I ran into. First, there were spacers that came with the Alaskas that needed to be added between the pegs on the mount and the fame of the mount itself. I mistook those for washers that were to be used elsewhere and without them, the cases wouldn't attach properly. The new Dolomitis may also require those spacers. Second, and this is an issue I still have, the rubber inside the hole at the top of one of my cases (where it latches to the mount) looks like its been crushed and moved out of place. Maybe it had to do with me trying to attach the case without those spacers in place, I'm not sure. But it does cause that case to need to be pretty much slammed against the mount so it latches properly. If I don't use enough force, it clicks as if it did latch but a quick smack and it comes off. You might want to check these two possibilities first. The only other thing is that they can take a more force than seems necessary to latch properly and you want to make sure you hear a solid click. Hope this helps!

I just want to ask do you think I can have the same set up as yours, like your side panniers and top case my bike is street twin 2018 model, do you think it would fit in on mine as well?

This seems like a popular question, since several people have asked. For the top case, you'll need a rear luggage rack (Triumph, TEC Bike Parts, and Givi make Street Twin-specific racks) and the Givi E251 Universal Monokey Plate if you want to mount a Monokey top case. If you want to use a lighter-duty Monolock top case, I believe all Monolock cases come with a universal mounting plate. The side cases are a bit trickier. Givi does not manufacture any Monokey side case racks specifically for the Street Twin. The only rack they have available for the Street Twin can only support the smaller, lighter Metro-T side bags. I'm not sure if the T120/T100 specific racks would be compatible with the Street Twin.

I've sat in the passenger position and found that the sidecases don't get in the way. They stop short of back of the pillion's knees.

I don't fully remember if they came inside the packet, but are they like the ones that can be seen\ at the 7:58 mark? If so, those are actually spacers that need to be installed on the mount attached to the bike. They god between the frame of the mount and those little knobs that the cases kind of "sit" on.

Any reason to not go for the Dolomiti cases?

When I bought these cases, a pair of Alaskas were cheaper than a pair of Dolomitis. There's also a difference in how the lids work. The Alaskas have a hinge on one side whereas the Dolomiti lids have a handle and are able to be taken completely off. They also had different mechanisms for releasing the case from the mounting rack. That being said, it looks like Givi has released an updated version of the 36L Dolomitis where that mechanism is the same as the Alaska's. The lids look like they still come completely off. There's also a matter of pricing; these new Dolomitis are cheaper than the Alaskas.

@@MobiusT100 thanks for the detailed explanation. Givi recently released a video showing all the 3 pannier models they have in alum. They have discontinued the older Dolomiti’s and updated the locking mechanism. Older ones are selling at discount.
