Hey, it’s been a while since you posted this, but it looks like it’s still the only KZread tutorial for this install on the Scrambler 1200. Mine is the XE, so I also had to remove the hand guards, but otherwise this went more easily than I expected. It took me two hours at a relaxed pace, including the usual weekend interruptions of a family man working on his bike. I followed the advice of a recent commenter, and simply loosened the lever and mirror assembly on the left side so it could slide out of the way, and didn’t bother removing the clutch and switch housing. Worked great. Silicone spray is your friend for fishing those cables, though! Thanks for the video, and keep the rubber side down!

Control cluster removal: Just take two 1.5mm hex wrenches and insert them (long side) into the slot and then slide the panel off easily. No special tool required.

Thanks for making this. Really useful and I followed it step by step. It works. I did figure out that on the clutch side that you don’t have to remove the button box as the hole in the bars on the underside are exposed enough to get the harness threaded through to the bars ends. To do this I first ran single core wire through to the bar ends and used that to pull through the harness wires.

Yes it is it’s a super big pain and you’re always afraid to break something but just keep working at it and it’ll eventually pop off.

Hey awesome video! I'm gonna put some non-stock pro taper adv high bars and wanted to know how complicated it would be to get the heated grips off and on again so this was super handy, thanks for taking the time to explain it all. I know it takes me ages to do informative videos like this!

For anyone wondering, the Triumph heated grips at the high setting are hot! Uncomfortably hot to hold with bare hands, on a warm day, at least. I’d seen some comments about low heat on these on the 2019 model, but it looks like they’ve resolved any issues. Made sure to test them before buttoning everything back up.

I put the $5 heated grip wraps from eBay on my bike. They are not bad and saved my hands several times in below freezing temps.

I’ve never ran heated grips on any bike. I just usually froze my hands off🤣 so this will be a new treat👍🏻

I’m planning an iron butt ride to San Diego and back to Dallas in 48hrs on the Burgman. Do you know a cool site to see on the beach for photos before I head back? Thinking about the Walking on water cafe for breakfast😁 Any ideas are much appreciated

We stayed at silver strand beach and did Balboa park which is super cool and fun. Food trucks at noon there, botanical garden, museum and stuff like that. I did a video with the fam called San Diego in December. It will give u some idea also the old gas lamp area👍🏻. Ride safe my friend🇺🇸

When you disconnect the battery, you lose the date information, which brings up the service icon. To rectify, go into “Display Setup”, scroll date till you find “Date”, and enter the correct date.

Thanks for that info that does help me! What happens when the service tool icon comes on again do you have to take it to triumph? Or do you have to buy a device to clear it?

@@ManCaveMayhem Glad you found it helpful. I am not aware of a way to reset the service icon other than what I have shared, I imagine someone out there has found a way, though I would be very inclined to know why it appeared, so would probably go to a dealer. I installed a power lead for an air compressor, and obviously disconnected the battery and made the discovery about the date information being reset.

Do you happen to know if the euro5 XE bikes come pre-wired from factory? So just plug and play the heated grips.

  • @ManCaveMayhem

Mine was just plug and play but I’m not sure how the euros are set up. I would imagine they are the same if you have that bike just hunt down that plug.

hey, How did you manage to get the LH control cluster off? I have been trying now for a few hours 1x tiny Allen (hex) tool 2x 1.5mm hex tools, long shaft 1/8” screwdriver etc but with no luck. Can kinda feel the tools slotting in to something but no ‘click’ & release no matter how hard I try.

Truthfully, it took me forever they make a tool for it, and I got the tool, but it was still challenging.

So simple with a couple Allen keys, push them in till you bottom out. It will compress the tab just enough, then wiggle the control off. It’s snug but you should be able to tell if somethings going to break or not. The whole project took me 45 minutes on a 2023 xe
