Hey man , Your laser was hitting 2-1/2” mark , so the 1/4” offset on the laser is that much below pad , there for the actual pad height would be at 2-3/4” , not 2-1/4” ! Just saying 👍🏼

What prop do you use and what is the pitch. I just bought a 2012 triton 21xs elite. It has a 2012 250 Pro XS with hydraulic jack plate and a 24 pitch Mercury Trophy Plus prop. The most I got out of it was 63 mph with three guys, full fuel and tackle

Alley32 i have a 25 3 blade and fury 4 blade. The 3 blade is faster by a few mph but the 4 blade is all around awesome !

What about the distance from the transom to the prop. Your Triton does have a step down Hull Tunnel in the back lt, so i have been told go up w/ prop 1" to every 3" horizontal of hull tunnel ? Thanks.

I also have a 21xs with 250optimax. I can’t trim the motor all the way down on the trailer. I also throw a tall rooster tail getting 65-68mph. I assume the motor needs to go down? I haven’t officially measure prop to pad. Any recommendations

I have a 189trx but no water pressure gage. What do you do in that case. Boat runs by gps 55, at 5600 to 5800 rpm.

Larry Lewis i would install a gauge. Very important so the motor doesn’t overheat. If the rev limiter is 6000 then you could go down one pitch and gain some

Mr. Lewis, I just bought a 2018 189 TRX. What’s your prop to pad measurement to keep the water pressure up? I have a Mercury 150 Pro XS and it has a low water pick up (1 hole below the prop shaft).

I have a 2017 Triton 189 trx Boat leans to left coming out of hole under 4000 rps and only runs 46 mph at 5400 rpms . 150h.o Evinrude...What's up.. should be a 60 mph boat..

Ken Tullis i think the rev limiter is about 6000 rpm. If your running at 5400 at wot then you need to change your prop. Its about 200 rpm per inch. For instance, if your using a 25 at 5400 then you need to be using a 23 to bring it up to about 5800 them you would be running in the low 60’s

Also indicates motor to low, try rule of thumb 3.5 inch below pad to center of prop shaft.

1st dump all manual plates... either your get out the hole good and rest of your performance sucks. Set top end perfect ... you cant get boat up at all. Middle both getting out and up and best top performance suck. Chine walk....... your motor is too low. If your not running 85+ you wont blow out ( understand what this really means ). You can raise motor watch your water pressure , when it start to drop stop bring i down, then feel for even torque on steering wheel. Transom angle of today's boat with exception of Allison ,Bullet and Stroker are angled under more to reduce your nose lift. This is designed to keep boat ride smooth.( if you say chine walk is hard then this current smooth set up is for you). Get a extension/spacer 4",6",8" to add to your hydraulic jack plate ( depends on this set back) , get the transom angle from a Bullet , re angle extension plate and remount. ( this was shown and given to my by someone in the industry) Each boat will have its sweet spot on setback... ALso you should try props. It takes some effort. You finally need a winter prop and summer prop. Stay away from drag or racing props if you fish with weight more than you enter your boat at the drag race.... Accept that you will not be the fastest guy, there is always some one crazier with a boat that is maxed out with a perch fishing pole who likes to run through the pack. After some work my 2001 Triton TR 20 was able to run myself and tackle 1/2 tank 83 MPH and very stable no chine, hi on pad. 79-80 with partner. I had a Detwiler extension and jack plate . I have the Allison 1989 XB ,Bullets, Dominator with 280 Merc, 225 Promax long and short shafts. Concept applies to all and take time. The hi performance boats can blow out, lift, hook. Just to disclaim , always use small movements on your way up and enjoy your new found performance but realize all testing is just that and can be dangerous.

I have a 97 TR-21 with a 200 Mercury. It will try to chime at 62-64 MPH. Do you think my adjustment is off, need a different prop or is my motor to slow?

@@TrevorGoochFishing 1st that is a good hull , it is a faster design then the current ones. Speed increase by getting the hull out the water and on the pad is definitely the goal. Weight to HP . Like everything it #1 in performance. If you have a regular lower unit you can modify the water intake by tap drilling the top 3/4 holes and installing a set screw with blue Loctite. ( please look for this mod on the internet to see how it is done)This was a acceptable Mercury mod. You will keep good water pressure and it allows you to raise the motor more. If you have a hydraulic jack plate (a must have) you can then run the motor higher up. Your basically trying to get that lower unit out of the water to create less pull/drag. It will pull the hull left/then right causing chine walk. You may need 10" setback , ( todays factory recommendation but mine was farther).Hydraulic steering? Make life easier ....My Allison had the push pull cable which sucked ass. Weight distribution : changes with partner, tackle etc. can also effect the hull in performance. Prop: 3 blade may torque over and many swear its faster than a 4 blade, so you can offset that by going a 4 blade Trophy/Bravo 1 with an inch more pitch. ( I had to go to an 15" offshore bravo 1 with 3/4 vent hole drilled in it. This was my winter prop and would run 80 with partner 83 empty low fuel.) You would like to have, summer prop for hot weather so maybe your running 24 Tempest now. Winter you bump it up in pitch. You should be able to turn 200/100 RPM below rev limiter in winter and summer. This allows you to take advantage of the engine its full capacity and keep from loading it hard. Tournament load will need less prop in most boats. I cant recall if your boat is a true 21' I think they were actually less. Next motor gets the max rated for your hull. You dont have to go all out but having the torque really makes all the difference. The 97 hull set up correct with a Merc (Torquemaster lower) 225 should run very high 70's light load. I dont like having props worked on often as they become thinner and will not take the abuse of fishing. No need for super sharp blades on a bass boat ( unless you just wanna be the speed guy in a empty bass boat... which I was in Allison and the Bullet.) So for reference I had a 20 ft Bayou Bass Challenge Skeeter 1996 DC. 200 Yamaha carb with this lower unit mods 24 P I ran 68 with partner . Enjoy, big motor on-lifejacket on!

Every boat is different. But the tritons need a high motor. I move the motor up a 1/4” at a time tell my water pressure drops and then go back up 1/4” for the sweet spot
