I always loved the end of the song when the mom steps in and says her dad said the same thing about him and how he was wrong and so is the dad ..

Right? Typical parents. But they always mean well. Its just hard to watch your baby grow up and have to let go.

On the Garth & Trisha live request show Garth asked Trisha to sing this part of the song ❤

I love Trisha’s phrasing when she sings “Katie looks at Tommy like I still look at you!”

I always picture it as: She starts going up the stairs, and her BF is obviously nervous. However Mom comes in from the kitchen with like tea or something. She calms it all down, and sits Tommy down to relax. Mom begins explaining THEIR whole story here. At this point the daughter has come back down and Mom sits her close by Tommy. I see a photo on the wall being of like the Mom and Dad's wedding day, and say that it's on the wall above Tommy and Katie. The parents are looking at the younglings and Mom/Camera points at the photo at, "...like I still look at you!" Then it would fade into Tommy and Katie's eventual wedding scene, like they're in the same pose but it comes to life. That's just the happy story that always plays in MY head when I hear this song. 🤷♀
This was Trisha Yearwood first single and video. You should try "Walkaway Joe" duet with Don Henley of the Eagles.

Yeah, with Matthew McConaughey in the video!
You should react to Walk away Joe next, the music video features a young Matthew McConaughey. I'd also love to see you do Suds in the Bucket by Sara Evans.

Dad remembers what he was trying to do - that's why he's mad
Loved this song growing up. Another good one is I'm that kind of girl my Patti Loveless. Some of my 1st memories is singing this song to my mom when she she was recovering from cancer treatments.
Try "The Woman Before Me" "Walk Away Joe" by Trisha Yearwood or "The Highway Don't Care " by Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift if you haven't already.

This has always been one of my favorite country love songs. It just gave me the biggest smile hearing it again. Thanks for reacting to this Billy!!
This was my favorite song growing up, probably one of the first I knew the words to. Reba was my first crush (cause Im weak for a redhead lol), but Trisha was a very close #2

Reba is by far my favorite redhead!!
There is a drive in like 35 minutes from my house! It's so much fun!
This song came out when I was still a toddler and my family (and quite a lot of the rest of the town) named it "my song." Despite it being played at me constantly growing up (and at least one incident when I was forced to karaoke it in front of my entire 6th-grade class) I have made peace with it and come to love. The guy named Tommy that was in my class, not so much. (Also, the reason her dad doesn't like Tommy is because he WAS a teenage boy and he remembers what he and Katie's mom we're up to)
Please listen to Jacob's ladder by Mark Wills!!! Similar story but so good ❤
Great song and I've always liked this video, thanks Billy 👍 I've been to a drive in a few times, they were fun
Grew up with a Drive-In about a half hour away. Had some of my favorite childhood memories there. My family would Caravan together and all the kids would lay on sleeping bags and blankets in the bed of my Dad’s pickup. It’s still running and I cannot wait to bring my son one day!
Walk away joe by Trisha is great! Love this video thank you for keeping us entertained during this quarantine!! 😊
I grew up in San Diego actually Chula Vista! Born 1952😳 and we went to many of the local drive ins! Great song. Thanks
Loveee this songg!!! Reminds me of being a kid hearing this..pops in my head randomly lol

Beautiful song!
The drive in movie theater in Hamilton, OH just opened back up this week 🔥🔥
Lots of great memories in my old Jeep at the drive in movies! Dammit why you gotta take me back like that haha
My mom and sister loved this song. I'm not a country fan anymore but I'll always have a soft spot for some of those old 90s country songs. After my mom died, all those old songs make me think of my mom. She took me to my very first concert when I was 12 which happened to be Reba McEntire, who was her favorite singer.
From Springfield, OH...& yes loved the Drive In!
Great reaction. There is still a drive in in my area, love going in the summer :)
There were some drive in's opening up during the covid-19 lockdown Last one I was in was Cottonwood,AZ watched a double feature " The evil that men do with Charles Bronson" and " The Breakfast Club"
There’s still a drive-in in N. Georgia not too far outside of Chattanooga, TN that I’ve been to several times.
I liked it. Clean, simple, easy to follow with a good message and a catchy hook.
This was always a sweet, heartwarming song. Specially when momma comes out and reminds dad that grandpa used to say the same about him. xD Yeah, I went to the drive in movies a lot throughout my life. We had a good one in IN, and there is one here in AZ near where I live.
Hey Billy we still have 3 or 4 drive in's operating in Michigan , always a good time , I grew up going to them. Made sure my kids had that experience as well
Yes, in wisconsin we had drive in movies. We now live in Georgia have yet to find one.
My name is Tom. When this song came out I was always called Tommy. Naturally, this became one of my favorite songs.
The closest drive-in theater to me closed when I was about 10. The next closest one was about an hour away. And it closed just a few short years later.
Yes there is a drive in theater in my area. We took our kids there. Pjs and blankets. They LOVED it.
There's one in my area. My daughter and I just watched clueless lol Great reaction. I love trisha yearwood. Please do walk away joe and georgia rain
There is one in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was actually in the movie the Outsiders.
The drive ins in Sacramento way back when. Used to pile in the trunk.😂
When I was little, my mom used to say this was my song because of the boy that kissed me when I was seven. Even years later, I think about that whenever I hear this song. This will always be a favorite of mine.😊💗
There's drive ins in Tennessee a few are left. Went with my mom to see Fast and Furious 7... we both sobbed in the rain in her car ...
We have a drive in still in Blue Ridge , Ga , about an hr from me
Yes, there was a drive in movie theatre in a nearby town where I grew up. My family and I went a couple times. So this is not my favorite song, but I like it. I thought it was adorable how you playfully dance to it!
I love this video. Great reaction
I live in one of the few states that have had an active up and running drive in movie theater. Me and mine watched a lot of movies we don't remember there 😆

Great song Billy!!!! The only drive in movies I know of around East Texas is a XXX theater... And no I've never been!!!
You MEMBER!! I love your reactions!!!
When I was little we used to go to the drive in. They just opened a new one here in the Phoenix, AZ area.
Love the drive in and here in Sacramento we still have ours so my kids have gotten to experience the drive in.
I’m old, 42 and I remember going to the drive in with my parents and two siblings, we would wear our p.j’s. They would play a family movie first and then a more adult movie. Is kiddos would fall asleep in the back seat, it was such an amazing time!!
We still have a drive in here.. It's $7 a person and you get 2 movies. It's awesome

I used to go to Coyote Drive In in Lewisville, TX but they shut that down about a year ago and I don’t wanna drive all the way out to Fort Worth.
We still have a drive-in theatre here in Greenwood ,SC... It was close down for years. Now the new owners upgraded it to HD ..and added 2 more screens for a total of 3.. each one plays 2 movies a night, on the weekends.. I think they are staying open through the quarantine.
Thank goodness yes. When COVID hit, everyone rediscovered the Sacramento Drive Inn. One of only 18 left in the whole state of California. Most people didn't know it still existed until the radio and news stations did a story on it. Mostly older releases because not much new was release to public viewing during COVID but it was a way to get out and feel normal for a few hours.
Still have an active drive in just outside my home town. Eden drive-in Eden nc. Also my local drag strip has converted to a drive-in for covid-19 till they can have big events again
There's a drive in movie theater not too long. Drive in concerts have been a thing! Grew up with this song--love it
I live in Burlington, VT and we have a drive-in in Colchester (next town over)!! I just went lol! It's easy to social distance when in you're car (they are doing 50% capacity, 7 days a week).
There are still two drive-ins out here in San Bernadino, CA I prefer the drive in cause you see 2 movies lol
In my area there were many drive in movie theaters around when I was younger. Two of them were very close to my house then and now. Now one of those and most others in the state have closed for good! Although hubby found one three hours or shorter drive and a ferry ride away. So, there are a few still scattered around the state.
As I am old I used to go to the drive in. They were already gone by the time we had our kids (too bad since you could just put them in jammies and have dinner while watching a double feature like I used to do when babysitting). When she was on tour with Garth I kept telling my DH that they were a couple, but he just said I was always so suspicious. When they divorced their spouses and got married he came home with a gorgeous pair of earrings. I love being right!
Many drive in movies. We still have one in the small Tennessee town (it's been here as long as I can remember) been here around 50 years
There are still a few drive ins in my area, and one specifically that everyone in my area goes to. I spent many summers there growing up!
I miss seeing your Carrie Underwood reactions. If you haven't already, I highly recommend looking at her performing Softly and Tenderly, and looking up her song Cupid's Got a Shotgun and another one of her songs called The More Boys I Meet. Just recommendations, but I love your videos either way! 😊
Just went to the drive in a couple weeks ago. We still have one in Billings MT
I like it, like the voice and the lyrics, thank you sir.
We haven’t had a drive in movie for a long time; however, we have 2 different ones opening here in Shreveport/Bossier soon as a result of What has happened in recent months.

Yes we have a drive-in about 35 minutes from me and it recently opened back up on weekends.
There are a proud few drive in theaters left. I saw one a few days ago with 7 big screens
"Walkaway Joe" and "The Song Remembers When" are imo two of her very best.
I just moved to Florida but there was one in Tulsa I went to last year. It’s cozy.

We have a drive inn movie in our small city, traditions of many in the area is to hit a double feature, At least once during the summer. Good times.
In Fayetteville Arkansas there's a drive in theater on 112.
When I was growing up, we lived across the street from the Glenwood Drive In. We went there all the time. When I was dating my (now husband), we went to the Starlight Drive In. The last movie to be shown at Glenwood was ET. I made my husband take me there to see it and to say goodbye to something that had been such a big part of my childhood. The Starlight is still in business.
Last one I saw was in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in the 80's.
We still have a drive in movie up north of you here in Abilene.
I'm in Sac gotta DriveInn bout 30mins drive. Havent been during this covid-19 but they're open with a lot of guidelines last I heard
There's a drive- in theater about 40 mins from me we took our kids for the first time a couple weeks ago. They loved it. This song has always been a fav of mine. I was 17 when I started dating my husband and my dad wasn't really thrilled about it. We've been together since '96.
We went to the drive in movie every weekend. I don't remember what movie was playing but had a great time 🤣🤣🤣
There was when I was growing up. Haven't seen any near by in Florida. I loved going to one.
I grew up with drive-in movies and there is still a drive-in in this area. I hope they open back up this summer because I agree with you -- it is probably a safer way to watch movies right now.
In Hermosa, there's a drive-in theater that my family went to Avengers: Age of Ultron at. We also went to Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel at it.
We still have a drive in here in Southwest Michigan
