I haven't seen the trois tigers clip since the late 80's. This brings back memories of watching Canadian Sesame Street.

I've seen the Trois Tigres sketch on the American Sesame Street back in the 90s. The music and English voices were very different and there wasn't any singing. But everything else was the same.

Do you have Inspector Banana? ("This is my watchdog, Spud. I call him Spud because potatoes have eyes.")

I never knew about that Letter M cartoon back in the US. I could see it dubbed into English.

I believe they only used the "A", "F" and "L" segments originally from Canadian Sesame Street to the actual Sesame Street.

Ya know, when I first played Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991, something about how Dr. Robotnik/Eggman looked in the game seemed vaguely familiar to me. I know his appearance in general was loosely inspired by Teddy Roosevelt but now I'm thinking there might have been some very faint remnants of a memory of the "face" (before it's put on the body of the farmer) in that F animation that was re-kindled by the Eggman sprite in 1991, specifically the mustache. I also think I vaguely remember the tigers wearing the hats but perhaps I'm just thinking of Snagglepuss. Do you have any of the Ojibwe trickster "Nanabush" ("Nanabozho") animations from Canadian Sesame Street? I'm specifically hoping to see the one where Nanabush tricks the Spirit of Winter to melt him and turn everything to spring.

I could have sworn these were on the OG New York based Sesame Street, only they wouldn't be in French. Our show's bilingual elements were Spanish. But these would likely be in English. Especially the tiger one. I swear I saw that a few times and it had New Orleans style jazz as a soundtrack instead.

Even in the US or Mexico, it is rare to listen to spoken French other than European. My French teacher told us that Québécois has a more nasal accent to it but I can see is more than that. Some words are really weird sounding.

Speaking as someone who's been living in France for some time, when I hear Canadian French these days, it has the same effect on my French ears as a Southern US drawl has on my English ears. It's warm, folksy, and charming. I'm actually reassured to learn the French they were ineffectively trying to teach us on Canadian Sesame Street was the genuine Canadian variety. Imagine how weird it would be to be living in Arizona and learning Spanish with the accent of Madrid. With that said, a lot of the New World accent here isn't too thick. You hear it most in the word _fleur,_ which they pronounce to sound almost like the English word, « flyer ». The _i_ sound in New World French is closer to the short _i_ in English - as you can hear in the word _musique._ But the kid who says _Montaigne..._ That's not his accent. He's only mixing up the name of the rock formation with the name of the famous author of essays. The rest of the kids pronounce it correctly when they repeat. Finally there's _face._ In European French, they'd more commonly use the word _visage._ But I'm a little surprised that it was pronounced in such a European way here. Usually in Québécois, it rhymes with the English word « boss ».
