If there was ever a name made for a career in double bass it's Bob DeBoo. Great lesson!

😆 yeah
When I played, I used to make the first note of the triplet a bit longer than the next two notes. I never cared for an even triplet feel. As Dizzy used to say, "The swing is on the upbeat". lol

Wow.. this is a practical tip to use triplet...
Great breakdown..
Thanks!
Great stuff. Many thanks. I would have been nice to hear your comments on right hand fingering choices for these: alternating vs raking, index vs middle finger, 3-finger playing, etc.

thanks bro! doing great, thank you
This is such a great lesson Bob! Thank you for doing this! I was wondering if you might address the type of lines that Charlie Haden played with Ornette Coleman. In, "Lonely Woman" for instance it seems like some drones, in a certain key but kind of ambiguous . I hear the same types of openness in a lot of Scofield recordings. An example is, "Flat Out" which is essentially a fast rhythm changes tune. But it is so fast that there is no way to play the changes, it seems like the A section is just in B-flat, but hard to discern the actually harmonic structure. This is something that has plagued me for years, if you can enlighten in any way, I would be so grateful! I am a guitarist from Springfield, we played together once with Marty. Thanks
Great lesson! Thank you!! You might double check the examples in C. Looks like your notation is showing a flat in the signature.

This question may be coming in very late, but what device are you using to play your ride pattern? I need one. 😁👍

Enharmonically equivalent, but for purposes of voice leading, there's a difference between, for instance, an Ab and a G#. I wonder if your students might not benefit from some spelling changes. (Not just you, the piano guys' transcriptions do the same.)
