Triple Your Super 73 ZG's Range: Step-by-Step Guide to Adding a Secondary Battery

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I love my Super73 ZG ebike, but it's 8.7 ah battery is quite small and range limiting. In this video I add an additional 15ah battery to try and alleviate my range anxiety.
==
Get ready for an electrifying upgrade with the addition of a secondary battery to your Super 73 ZG! In this video, we'll guide you step by step on how to install a new 15-amp hour battery to the original 8.6-amp hour battery, both at 36 volts. While it's important to note that this will void your original manufacturer warranty, the added power and increased range will make it all worth it!
We'll start by removing screws and freeing the saddle, followed by mounting the battery and cutting away any cable ties that might be holding the cables. After that, we'll unscrew the top of the saddle to reveal the battery and controller inside. Plug in the cables and connect the batteries using a Y-connector to triple the range of your bike.
This is not just any ordinary upgrade, it's a thrilling journey to supercharge your ride! With our guidance and a few tools, you'll have your Super 73 ZG ready for a wild adventure. So buckle up and let's get started!

    Great, thanks for this. My Super73 ZG has not been taking a charge so I’ve been wanting to get the seat apart for the best part of 12 months but not got round to it. (Hopefully the battery still has life in it after not taking a charge for nearly 2 years…) Had made a start but those cables seemed impossible to pull apart! Seeing your video gives me the confidence to crack on and pull it all apart. Thanks!

    @@d.0202 I did charge mine first, but I'm not sure how much it matters. I switch both batteries on before I power up the controller from the handle bars. If you think about it, what you have is a bunch of 18650's. An 18650 should be 3.6v and so you have groups of 10 of them in series in your battery pack. The groups are then aligned in parallel. All you are really doing is adding extra packs in parallel. I.e. the original battery might be 20*18650 in 2 groups of 10, and I added another 4 groups of 10. In short, if you charge together, and you discharge together, they should all level out. At least that is my understanding. You can, of course, switch each battery on and use it independently, if you wish .. like run on the big added battery, until it runs out, then power everything down, switch off that battery and switch the other on, and fire it all up again. I think if you do that though, the bike gets slower as it chews through the battery, so probably best to run both.

    i own a Super73 Z1. same bike (specs) just branded with different name in different market. if you mod dual battery, no you’re not running both batteries at same time. you’re basically switching Andersen connectors, from batteryA to controller to batteryB to controller. plan to adjust for wire location and accessibility too. my first mod was keeping the original battery under seat (36v 11.5ah) and adding external 36v 20ah battery, like one in video. in my case, the 36v 20ah external battery gave me enough power to get through most of my “normal” riding day. got rid of OEM controller, removed OEM battery too, upgraded controller to 48v controller and used battery space under seat to install 24v power pack for custom light system. Upgraded battery to 48v20ah. ALWAYS go for battery with the most amp-hours you can afford… you’ll thank yourself later. ebikes, imo, are made to be customized. Mod on! /Bklyn👑
