Trip's Serperior was really done dirtier than any other rival Pokemon in the entire show. Serperior was shown to have unbelievable speed and power for the entire series, in every single battle it either dominated or performed really well. And its bond with Trip was even getting stronger and stronger. Then it was even utterly destroying Ash's Pikachu in the Pokemon League battle too, until... Pikachu somehow one-shotted it. Man, Serperior deserved a waaay better final battle... 🐍

One thing that always bugged me in the World Tournament Junior Cup is that Trip’s strategy was to lower the opponent’s physical defense with Serperior’s leer then finish it off with solarbeam. The problem is that solarbeam is a special attack which meant that lowering the opponent’s physical defense was useless unless Serperior used dragon tail which was the only physical attack that Serperior had during the tournament.

Tbh Black & White while fun was an arc in the series that is at times forgettable and very messy in execution

Trip may not be my favorite Ash rival but I have huge respect for him for picking the best grass starter 🤷‍♂️ also awesome video as usual 👍

No matter how old I get, Pokémon will always be something that I enjoy. I'm glad that I can now share this part of my childhood with my children.

I agree. It's also downright insulting that the writers did not evolve Ash's Snivy. You know how many fans wished Ash's Torterra should have been kept as a Turtwig? Well, Ash's Snivy was often seen by fans as "Turtwig done right"- a fast cute unevolved Grass mon who does not need evolution, only to learn too late how extremely flawed the concept was (lack of evolution and no change in moveset meant it was way too weak and underdeveloped).

If trip's serperior had more focus and competed in many more battles, it's most likely that the royal serpent's power level would've rivalled that of ash's sceptile.

Serperior has actually been my personal favorite final Gen 5 Starter evo, second to Samurott And if a Legends game shows a regional Serperior like Hisuian Decidueye, maybe a Grass-Fairy type, I’m choosing Snivy for whatever trio the Legends game has

I think Grass Dragon or Grass Steel type would work better Grass Dragon on a Legends game and Grass Steel if they decide to pull a 180 and go to the future i know SV already has the concept but it would be cool

His best performance is probably his second match against ash I remember being amazed for how effectively he used frillish

I wish we had more episodes on Trip and his Pokemon

⁠​⁠@@jetguy128You can’t really compare Paul and Trip as trainer’s. Paul was an experienced trainer prior to meeting Ash, people forget that he had already competed in other leagues. Whereas Trip was just starting out his journey when he met Ash

I have to say snivy and servine imo had the best effect put into. The way leaf storm and leaf tornado is shown is amazing

Snivy is one of my all time favorite Start line.

i wish we got more of the rivalry with snivy too, that would of been such a nice build up and offer us all to see more of trip and serperior on screen

It's a shame we never got to see a full battle between Trip and Ash. I mean his team would've most likely have been Serperior, Conkeldurr, Unfezant, Jellicent, Chandelure, and Vanilluxe. That's a pretty stacked team ngl

Dude. Isn't Paul like the frown guy who treats his pokemon like crap, calls you pathetic, and his rival dynamic with ash is just mean trainer vs nice trainer? And trip is like a smug racist guy with a camera that he uses to see how sh*t works, calls your sh*t basic, and he and ash are like western and eastern way of sh*t clashing each other but in an actually sh*tty way.

As controversial as Serperior is, he honestly made me really like the Snivy evolution line more than Ash's Snivy tbh He was definitely a Prodigy and showed it, just wished the writers did better with him tbh

With how fragile Serperior's defenses are, it's no wonder Trip had to compensate with its ridiculous speed.

I always theorized that Trips serperior likely was owned by someone else but was given back to Juniper because it already knew leaf tornado. So someone actually started to train it, likely got one gym and probably rage quit after losing to Lenorna

To be fair most of Ash's past rivals didn't make an appearance in journeys other than Paul, Gary and I guess Alain, but Trip as well as Ash's other rivals did make quick appearances/ cameos during the masters eight.

As much as Trip IS NOT MY Fave Rival of Ash, His Serperior is actually MY Fave among Serperiors in ALL of Pokemon🍃

Serperior is an underrated pokemon

As much as I hated how Snivy beat Pikachu in its first battle, I have always felt that Ash got one of his most undeserved wins against Serperior during the Unova League. Trip had the match in the bag, but out of nowhere a Electro Ball/Iron Tail combo took out the grass snake despite Pikachu being unable to inflict ANY damage beforehand. Keep in mind that Ash told Pikachu to stop battling during the match against Skyla's Swanna because it was 'exhausted', but Serperior was squeezing it with Wrap until the mouse was blue in the face and Ash kept it in play. Didn't help that the writers nerfed its moveset from the Jr. Cup to the Unova League ya know taking out Solarbeam and putting in Energy Ball. I don't even remember it using Frenzy Plant in that final battle either.

I have a vey interesting memory of the battle between pikachu and snivy, when i was a kid i liked pokemon but wasn't as huge of a fan as i was now and i remember watching this battle and a memory of a snivy vs a pikachu stuck in my head. Since i was a kid i didn't have good memory but could only remember a snivy vs a pikachu and idk why but for me something didn't feel right, as if it something happened that wasn't supposed to and now as im older and i finally understand where i got this memory from i understand why i feeled that way, this battle did pikachu so dirty that i started having flashbacks of it as a kid

Trip was a wasted rival it was an interesting case but still they wanted to be a Paul 2.0 and Serperior was actually a decent rival but sheesh it felt rushed to just lose to Pikachu in the League bear in mind it was round 1, but still it was interesting to see its battle style and well it was funny to see it lose against Snivy the first time. Good video professor and for next Pokémon hmmm could be finally getting to Johto with Pika or...hmmm Cameron's Lucario now that we are in a bit of a BW anime rundown.

The way Pikachu Defeated Serperior was plot armour if you ask me, just like how he defeated Steven’s Mega Metagross.

Trip was overconfident with the belief he could easily defeat Unova Champion Alder and even more so thinking he could’ve defeated Cynthia. While he and serperior did fairly well against Alder and his bouffalant, it was clear Trip wasn’t ready to defeat the former Unova Champion in an exhibition match.

The Complete History of Cameron's Lucario.

The Pokemon community really blew out of proportion the fact that "Pikachu lost to a level 5 Snivy a few episodes after beating Latios". Pikachu was very sick in that battle. Not only could Pikachu not use electrical attacks, quick attack and iron tail was less effective.

trip was so underrated he lost so early on diff battles thanks to conkeldurr with no wins so a vid abt it will just be short it was kinda sad trip lost early

Oh man 😂 I remember that battle with Boufflant and Serperior and I can’t say I’m surprised. Trip was overconfident and focused more on power than strategy just like Paul. Having Serperior use solar beam on Boufflant was a noobish move. Boufflant has the ability sap sipper which boosts attack power when hit by a grass type move. He was just like Gary, Gary used to be cocky and overconfident as well. Ash taught him a lesson by defeating him in the fifth round of the sliver conference. You always have to correctly strategize and think before acting so you don’t make careless mistakes.

That first snivy match always annoyed me as a kid! Though it was cool to see Pikachu's revenge later on

I was impressed by this serperior. Also thanks for talking about Ashs lycanroc. I just... been devastated ever sense he never showed in MPM.... will he show in Horizon? Also is the video gonna show Ashs lycanroc defeated in the Ash vs kukui....? Because I do not wanna see that.

Oh Trip’s Serperior, it was so strong. I still find it crazy of how back when it was a Snivy, it took out Pikachu with a leaf storm. I never imagined that a level 5 Pokémon would take down a strong Pokémon like Ash’s Pikachu. It was beginner’s luck. But Pikachu was discombobulated after Zekrom rendered his electric attacks useless. Ash’s Snivy defeated Servine after using attract and a vine whip. But Snivy fell to Trip’s Frillish after cursed body took effect rendering her vine whip useless. Ash didn’t defeat Trip until the Unova league. I never expected that a novice trainer would be able to defeat a experienced trainer. Trip trained really hard. I mean Ash had been a trainer longer than he has FYI. Trip even trainer Serperior in speed from how it was able dodge pignite’s fire attacks and take out Pignite. That final battle they had was intense and whenever I think about that moment where Pikachu was strangled by the wrap still gives me the shivers. It was disturbing. But Pikachu was able to get himself out of there with an iron tail and combined electro ball with iron tail and took him out. And Serperior also lost against Alder’s Boufflant. Alder was way out of his league.

What is with the Fully-evolved Grass Pokémon in this anime? They are all something else.

Y'know whenever I feel like Snivy vs. Pikachu was bad, I remember the time Pikachu with no Zekrom nerf lost to Cress' *Panpour* and I think that maybe that battle wasn't that bad (still bad though).

Trip is actually my favourite rival , even though he's the worst rival ever made.

I like using Serperior for puns where I apply it over the word superior & makes sense cuz it's the best Unova Starter. Sorry, I dnt make the rules I wish I could, but that'd seem like I'd be ruling over w force. You could say the Snivy's the best, but its 3rd stage is no slouch, thus it's the best.

Bro, trip I sware is basically a unova nockoff of Paul except slightly toned down a little yet trip was still a jerk but unlike Paul he was bright while we can all agree on how Paul was who acted more harsh that ash’s other rivals but I think Paul made sense as a rival he had more experience as a trainer while trip was a noob, they did ask dirty in unova which I didn’t like also I feel like the battle ash had with trip in the unova League was sort of an ash pull but gotta love plot armor I also like ld how alder was like a mentor to trip and he did a good thing for trip besides that he was helpful to ash by pointing out to ash that oshawatt had is eyes closed while he used aqua jet! And I have to give trip credit for that and his development at the end of the junior cup from loading to alder and trip had plot armor to beat ash but lost poorly unexpectedly to cilan and surprisingly Bianca who I felt was a little bit weak! But yeah that’s basically my thoughts on trip and also I can imagine his Serperior going up against Paul’s torterra and I think paul would win over trip.

It’s a tuff choice between treeko and tertwig for me. I loved treeko in the anime but tertwig was my favorite in diamond and pearl( of the grass types)witch was my first time watching a Pokémon season from start to finish that I remember.

Zekrom not only took away pikachu's ability to use electricity but also most of it's strength. At one point in the battle it got tired halfway using quick attack. I think Trip mentioned to Aldur that he chose snivy specifically for his battle with him as part of his strategy.

Unova will always be my favorite series of the anime because of nostalgia but every time I revisit it or hear about it I can only think of all the missed potential, especially with Trip and his pokemon.

Trips Snivy supposed to be beaten out by Pikachu's oneshot Iron Tail at the beginning of the series considering Pikachu supposed to be at level 100 with experiences comes from Indigo League to Diamond Pearl according to game logic. Trip should be grateful because of dumb bad writings for Pikachu's plot

Pikachu’s power was weakened, it’s also theorised that Trips Snivy already had prior experiences in battle prior to meeting Trip, hence why he was so confident and powerful. Also consider that Snivy evolved before Trip even got to the first gym

I'm semi early professor

Trip was a living representation as to why BW is my least favorite Pokémon season. He was just a less significant copy of Paul, who Ash should’ve been miles above by this point in his journey. Although been weakened by Zekrom, explained his loss to Snivy, i just don’t get how Pikachu wasn’t able win when it was a servine , since it was back to full power. Even their final bout where Pikachu avenged it’s loss was lackluster compared to other final battles with rivals. That being said I can’t deny what a badass Serperior became after fully evolving as it won the junior tournament literally without a scratch. Maybe Serperior was a prodigy during its time as a snivy, as it’s leaf tornado seemed awfully powerful for a freshly acquired starter.

@@bige81892 Yea, but it's fairly uncommon for a mon to be able to take out two pokemon by themselves, even if that one mon is quite powerful. It happens, but not too often. After getting damaged by one mon, I would say it makes sense Pikachu couldn't finish off a second.

If ash had Lucario the one in The Ultimate Journeys, that too with mega evolved, .. serperior wouldnt stand a chance !😅😅 Im in serious love with 3 galarian pokemons now,.. Ash's Lucario and Sir fetch'd Also mentioning Dracovish... These 3 were instrumental in winning the World Coronation series! Whenever Pikachu gets beat in the early rounds, they were the only ones carrying ash to the Epic Final with Leon... Trip im telling you wouldnt even stand a chance against the Current champion Ash Ketchum!
