    The main reason to buy the RMR is because of its durability and the fact that it just works. I've seen them hold zero when taking it off to swap batteries or put it on another gun. I've seen them hold zero while having a cracked lens. With that sort of tankiness I feel it can work past any of the issues people may have with it. It really is one of the best pistol dots in the game because I can't think of any others that can stand up to that sort of abuse.

    RMR HD is the answer. Some people still say it’s behind the times because it doesn’t have shake awake or solar failsafe. Sure, I guess solar failsafe in particular would be nice, but Trijicon has engineering figured out. If that one feature decreases durability it isn’t worth it. LE and MIL don’t have an issue with batteries, and that’s what it’s designed for. Top loading battery, sufficiently sized window, durable and dependable… a little higher actual street price than RMR type 2…. Just get the HD moving forward.

    I think the Acog 4x is still respectable for what it is for what they go for. They're ever so slowly rolling out models that's more in line with the civilian demands (ex. the TA02) but otherwise are still fine as they are for the price. I've looked through my fair share of fixed magnification prism optics within the "economy" spectrum and they leave things to be desired, the retention never held and always sent them to new homes. You're not going to really find anything with as clear of glass, huge FOV that competes with 3x budget prism optics except it's a 4x, more light transmission thanks to the larger objective lens, and not overly heavy. The RMR however, yeah it's fallen behind compared to market competitors for pistol red dots.

The case for the SW pistol was based on basically copying the entire Glock platform, not because of 1 feature as innocuous as button placement.

    As annoying as the RMR's problems are, they all are irrelevant to me because for me, durability is above all else for red dots :v Plus, the correct way to run a red dot is to put tape on the front and shoot occluded with the Bindon Aiming Concept, because then you can run the red dot at less brightness, and save battery life. It also helps protect the lens and front body of the optic from scratching or breaking with enough thicc tape on top.

    it's fine, it works but there are better offerings as it's not 2004 any longer. Heavily blue tinted glass and no reticle choices make it very subpar considering it's meager offerings in contrast to the competition especially for the price point. Who knew you actually buy a sight for its looks- (the way it looks through the window) that's kind of the whole point!

  • @vilecreature8640

    Blue tint helps battery life, and are you shooting with one eye closed like this is 2004? If you are target focused it shouldn’t matter, always seemed like a mute point given it has advantages. Not to mention it’s not being built by basically slave labor in China, I’ll spend the extra to not have something I’m trusting my life to not to be made in China, by literal children.

  • @mjgII

    @mjgII

    9 ай бұрын

    @@vilecreature8640 here we go... low tint helps in low light and general overall visibility through the window, dot sights already have insane battery life (years) so the difference if any, is negligible. You don't always want to be "target focused" depending on the kind of shot you need to make. The focal plane on a RDS isn't infinite like a holographic so you'll want to focus through the window/reticle itself so it's not blurry when you superimpose on your target for a precision/distance shot. The ability to have circle dot reticle is nice for holdovers at distance and height over bore compensation up close. Green LED's are also very nice and tend to pop better in bright environments for a given brightness than red will. Sure, trijicon could incorporate all the above if they wanted to, but they don't. If they did maybe i'd buy one but for now i'll stick with the innovative "junk" made by chinese child slave labor. Maybe Trijicon is slightly more reliable and durable, but I honestly couldn't care less, if a dot fails i'll just use irons, red dots are just a luxury and shouldn't take place of fundamentals.

I can hit a 6 inch plate at 100 yards standing all day long, what more could you ask for? The blue tint is a notch filter, that’s how you get 4-5 years of battery life. I also have one mounted on a pistol, which I can also hit a torso sized metal plate at 100 yards with. I have developed an astigmatism now in my 50s, so the dot is no longer perfectly round, but that hasn’t changed the effectiveness of either tool.

    Where are the HD in stock? Only industry T&E people have them it seems. Most retail sites are saying preorder for early November release. So it would seem it’s just in time to review the RMR now and then review the new model when it’s available to the public.

    If you shoot like you’re supposed to shoot with it, both eyes open and focusing on the target you won’t notice any distortion. If you’re focosing on the target through the glass it’s a nightmare.

    @Rm_1776 I'll try to clear it up a bit better... You are supposed to focus on your intended target through the glass, with both eyes open. When the dot overlaps your target (if you will), you fire. You are not supposed to focus on the dot and place it on your intended target.

    I also occlude the dot when I’m shooting with a piece of black tape when I’m training. Therefore the window is completely black, and your brain merges the left and right eye for a sight picture. Forces you to be target focused with the non-dominant eye.

Seriously what device ate you watching/reading this off? 100% it's not a USA made product!!! 😅 it's got it's just recorded service life & that's awesome. But there's better options out there now a day's. In my own opinion!!! Great video bro!!
