@@fragger56 I did something similar. I didn't realize there was a difference and ordered an EPS. I put it on my Macro and almost said screw it and run it anyway. Scouring my YT for something fresh to watch, Lo and behold a new brass facts video- truly a blessing from the lord
I absolutely love my EPS. I have the larger one on a PDP compact that I carry every day. Open emitter optics get so dirty so fast if you carry it regularly. The EPS also maintains very clear glass with minimal distortion and blue tint. If you can fit it on something….. GET IT. It’s a VERY good EDC red dot
I love my EPS. I've had it for about 9 months now, about 1k rounds through the 19x it's on. It's still on it's first battery, with daily carry and auto shutoff set to 2 hours (I believe.) I also left it outside overnight for a whole week during -20f weather to see what it would do, never noticed any issues at all
The 509 acss is nice on a 45 degree mount on a rifle. The chevron indicates the horizontal plane much better than a dot and thus helps establish a more precise zero.

Definitely giving the EPS and EPS carry a hard look for my competition gun and carry gun respectively.
Just a little thing to prevent confusion: the 509T v2 is just the 509T with a different button arrangement to avoid Trijicon’s lawyers shitting themselves for patent infringement. The 509T X2 is what you referring to in the video.

Not quite. The 407/507/508 all had V2 models that had larger buttons vertically aligned. The X2 revision saw them swap to small buttons horizontally aligned. The 509T never had the V2 designation, just X2 and non-X2. They were also never part of the Trijicon lawsuit since Trijicon doesn't make an enclosed emitter pistol dot. The big difference between the X2 and non-X2 was tinting and apparent magnification. The X2 was significantly flatter and appeared less tinted. Also, the button placement was consistent between both versions, it always had bigger horizontally aligned buttons.

This is my first time watching one of your videos, and I am immensely impressed by the caliber of your content and comments. Please keep up the good work.
12:25 Dude, that was…awesome.
The STEINER MPS is my only MRDS-E that hasn't fogged due to temperature and elevation changes. The Aimpoint gave up just sitting on my G20 in a backpack after a trip to 10,000ft camping overnight. I got into my bag to put it on inside the Jeep with the heater on and it immediately fogged up before my eyes!.Aimpoint instantly gave me an RMA number and a shipping label but damn. The MPS has been on that same trip in colder conditions multiple times while I was still waiting for P2s to be in stock anywhere with no such problems. The substitute optic I only bought because there were no P2s available seems to be the better unit. I just have to feed it batteries every 90 days like a friggin EOTech..
That YEET transition to pistol at 4 minutes.
if anyone is considering replacing their 507k with the eps carry, I HIGHLY recommend it. The glass is so clear & having a closed emitter is so useful for conceal carry

That voldemort impression had me dying 😂 I guess the Avada Kedavra worked.
I’m gonna have to take a look at my MPS again under NV, but I don’t recall having any issues using it for passive aiming. Lighting conditions were pretty nice that night though so that could be why.
Thanks for doing this video. I'm currently trying to decide which dot to go with because I need to get my slide milled. Looks like the EPS Carry is a great option.
As of today 1/23/24, I cannot recommend the steiner MPS optic for duty use. I have less then 100 rounds of 9mm through my duty gun with the MPS. Today during a live fire exercise in 30 degree Fahrenheit conditions, the emitter failed. The dot just straight up poof gone. Changed out 3 batteries and same same. I also noticed the o ring to battery cap came detached as well. I will not trust my life or other Officers lives to this. The optic was literally babied during its very short life span on my gun. It's very unfortunate because the wide field of view, crisp dot, clear glass and enclosed style sight was really intriguing. I will try the ACRO and see what happens..

I currently have 6 509T out of the two V1 one has failed by condensation after a snowy USPSA match. Sent it back to Holosun for a V2 replacement. Beside that it's been rock solid as a CCW, competition, and rained/snowed/frozen without issues on all the other 509T V1/V2.

I’ll be stepping up as the Steiner MPS defender. When it comes to pistol mounting, the lower window is fantastic when you consider your back up irons, a specific concern to pistols, but a highly valid one at that. Mind you, I don’t see the irons as a “failsafe” in case the optic goes down, so much as an instant sighting solution when your dot potentially gets washed out. Either by your WML or sudden unanticipated lighting change to brighter than you have it set for. Or even something as realistic as aiming towards headlights. Where there is optic washout, there is going to be a great iron sight silhouette. That being said, trying to find iron sight solutions for the other options here is about as agonizing as trying to find one for the DPP. Until Unity Tactical comes out with some tall boy irons, you’re gonna struggle to get a good witness. My personal setup even rides on an RMR to ACRO plate, yet despite that, I get a perfect witness. (My standard being the rear sight valley is flush with the window. The iron sights I suggest for this is the Night Fision brand specific suppressor height because they are slight taller than traditional. They work fine for the 509t as well, though you get half the tritium vials through the window. Not to mention the 509t often has excessive glue around the edge being slightly obstructive to irons. If you have a direct mill ACRO cut, suppressor heights may ironically be too obstructive. Night Fision makes “optic height” which fills that in between of standard height vs suppressor height. The money you save between an MPS and an ACRO P-2 can afford you enough batteries for you and your grandchildren’s lifetime.
I've been running my 509t for about 4 years now. Absolutely love it. But I really want to get my hands on that EPS in a bad way.

It was the voldemort handgun spell that got me
I will take EPD ALL day. it's fast to pick up and low mount height are awesome. There is a half-contender that's not mentioned here for the Sig shooter in some (most) of us: the Romeo 2. It's HUGE and anything that's not a full sized pistol is just silly, but it's bomb-proof. It's only a half-contender because it's enclosure is removeable which makes it's extremely versatile. the downside is you need a aridly dry environment to put the optic together in enclosed pistol optic configuration or it will fog up, but it has survived all kinds of torture tests. I put mine together over the winter where the air was so dry I had to wear a anti-static wrist strap in my house. no issues.
was genuinely shopping for one while on KZread lol nice timing
Romeo 2. HUGE window and thin bezel, super clear glass under NV, and built like a tank with its replaceable outer shroud. Definitely a slept on optic choice.

My pistol optic uses a 1632 and after almost 2 years I changed it, guess a short shut down and shake awake feature really does make a difference
Whoa!!! I was so excited to see this!!!
I acquired a 509t when they were on clearance before the x2 came out. First I tried it on an ultra light ar15 build with scalarworks rmr mount + adapter plate. Then I moved it to a Glock 17 also with the rmr adapter plate. I guess I'd just prefer a direct mount option. Thinking about either getting a 509t reptilia mount or an attero arms 509t mount for an ak74 with a wire sidefolder.
The Kraken and the Cyelee Bear look like they could come from the same factory.
Just the video I needed thank you!
Nova. The red eyed, Jedi. Such a happy girl! Thanks for the share!!
I have 3 MPSs that are still on original battery. Always on. About to hit 1 year in June
I got a couple of PDP awhile back and needed RDS. I went with 509 since it’s less of a mailbox than other mailboxes
I pair the Swampfox Kraken with Swampfox Hostile Engagement mount for their scopes. Had one go down on pistol. Customer service was amazing, but will not put back on pistols, think the reciprocation of slide knock a connector loose. Great for rifle though.
Steiner MPS: The Good- Crispy dot and best one under nods imo, survived Run n Guns, rolling around at the range, and the occasional yeetings. Also, very clear window, emitter is on top which helps when shooting towards the sun. The Bad- 3-4 month battery life on the always on setting, older caps were a super soft aluminum so you'd destroy the cap easily when removing the battery. Also buttons are actually pretty hard to depress for a long period of time when trying to adjust the setting. ACRO: The Good - okay under nods but the dot is crisp during the day, housing is thicc but gets better after training, I'd assume it do well under torture (just acquired). Get to flex on the poors. The Bad- price, torx wrench adjustment, and sits pretty high compared the MPS so I lose my standard height rear irons. Buttons aren't terrible but do leave things to be desired. Holosun 509T The Good: budget friendly, water proof when sealed properly, great battery life, and okay under nods, surprisingly crisper dot than the ACRO (with my astigmatism). The Bad - honestly, just poor QC. I'm not anti Holosun because I keep buying them but I've had the glue that holds the lens melt off, canted red dots, large amount of fish bowling or distortion in the lens, and the side battery flying out under recoil even when torqued properly. Of course, all of this is anecdotal. Run your gear and figure out what you like best 🤙

Finally a video I’m looking for
Haven't watched the video yet but I'll add an edit at the bottom when I do. I have an Acro p2, got it almost a year ago, 6500+ rounds later it has an amazingly crisp dot, pretty good NV performance, etc but the acros have been plagued with issues, although my acro doesnt have any of the fogging issues that are common it does have some minor flaking of the paint in the sacrificial lense.

You might want to hold off to see if they are going to make the EPS ACSS Vulcan reticle instead because they(Holosun) might get rid of the 509t
I tried the MPS when it came out. It now runs on ALL of my pistols. I think it just gets some hate because it’s Steiner. If it had a different name on it, ppl would be all over it. It’s a sleeper. Get one.
Will eventually upgrade to the eps for my carry gun.
I have a 509T OG that's doing fine, and a EPSc that is genuinely the ideal option for something that gets as much fuzz and lint as it does. I sill likely look at an MPS eventually as they can be found for around 350-450 (I actually found a vendor running a sale for 353 right now). PS. The Kraken seems to struggle with keeping water out. So don't get it wet. As for proper destructive testing, I haven't seen it yet.
Released just in time, Im about to buy of of these
This video was a huge help for a piggyback.
Been waiting for this one. Was thinking of putting a kraken on my Frankenstein of a G19 build just cuz it's weird. Guess I'm not considering it anymore now.
G34, EPS, CHPWS plate 👌 my fave EDC
I have 2 507cs, and 1 407c, all on handguns (1 507 lived through around 1k rounds on a 7.62 ak before getting put on a handgun) which between all 3 have about 15,000 rounds through them, and none have had any issues, and none have been sent back. When I decide to dip my toes into the closed emitter world, it's going to be the EPS, no questions asked.
Curious, what is the optic mount used on your rifle when you reviewed the Holosun 509. Thanks.
There is also that new batteryless holosun for the mos that is a boxed version, don’t know if it’s in production yet tho.
The Trijicon RMR Type 2 RM06 is still the king and I'm tired of pretending it isn't.
It's weird that as soon as I start looking at closed emiter red dots that you put this video out. Side note what about the new C&H precision duty red dot? Would there be a potential review coming for that one?
I see you’re getting wise to my nova games. Trying to get me learn more.
I'm actually looking for a solid top dot to run on a DMR/SPR hybrid build I'm doing in 5.56 to sit over top of a US Optics TS 20x. (2.5-20x, 34mm tube) It's probably not going to see much night vision use, and I mostly want it as a quick aiming solution to both quickly acquire sight picture at range, and make snap shots when/if applicable. Id like for it to be night vision compatible, but its not a hard requirement. I'm currently running a 407c, and would strongly prefer a 2 moa dot because of the zero I use. (20 inch barrel with a 75 yd zero) Any recommendations would be appreciated. My budget is around the $400 range in preference, but will probably cap at 500.
Holosun swinging way above their weight class and knocking the top dogs out. Per usual.
I'm getting close to 3k on my 509t. It's been really solid so far!
I like how you carry your last mag in a spare pistol
I prefer auto adjust thats y I like trijicon and for my eyes the trijicons autoadjust is always perfect or mayb a little to bright but I'd rather be alittle to bright then not bright enough and I've had no problems with the auto adjust looking from a dark area out into light but im very interested in checking out the new holosun scs for the p320
I mouted an EPS as a piggyback on my rifle using evolution gun works Universal piggyback mounting system. Its great!
Thoughts on thre romeo 2? It's a box but not truly enclosed? And runs just under acro p2 money
Does the 509T include the stuff I would need to mount it on pic rail?
I would love to know what is the device that has the red dot mounted directly to the brace while still using a pistol grip on the pistol?
Curve ball, I bought the Sig Romeo 2, it's Aimpoint expensive, but I kinda like it more than my P2, it's got a much bigger window, smaller bezel, decent if quite small buttons, and very good NV performance. Drawbacks are it's footprint doesn't work with a lot of shit out there (unless you file front lugs off) and I hate that it isn't a dedicated enclosed red dot, because honestly if it was and used an ACRO footprint I would probably sell my other dots.
