Very helpful!! 3 ptacs in my home, got rid our our ducting, best thing we ever did (put sleeves in the three main areas of our home), our master bedroom ptac went out 2 days ago, august 103 degrees S. georgia. just took the capacitor out of another bedroom ptac and ours is fixed now. I switched them. btw the other bedroom ptac now does the same thing, so it was the cap. Wife very happy, we'll see tonight! So here[s what it was doing.. on high or low cool, about every minute or so, there was a slight buzz for about 5 seconds, then stops till another minute rolls around, compressor was very hot to the touch, really hot. the fan always ran as normal just no ac. so the cap fixed it. and the compressor was fine all along and we're happy now. cleaned the whole thing too ge digital ptac. thanks for your video.

What’s up David, I’m starting my first Hvac job in the field with just about a year of only book/school experience. The company mainly works on Ptac units, any tips for my first day to show my employer that I’m easily trainable and tips I should know about ptac units that I can share with him on my first day? Your feedback would be very much appreciated and I’ve been watching all your videos and they’ve already helped me to have a basic understanding of ptac units already. Again thanks David!

How's it going David. My PTAC Amana A/C works fine and fan. But when I turn on the heat, I hear clicking and the fan just constantly blows and the heat won't turn on. I held down the up and down button, pressed the heat button twice, and let it run in A/C and Heat mode. Everything seemed to work fine. Both the A/C and Heat worked and then it turned off as yours did. But when I turn on heat and put the temperature all the way up to 90, the heat just will never turn on. I double clicked cool and hit "Fan speed" like you said and got to the Set Point option. Everything read similar to yours did but when it showed "I C" for indoor coil, it just showed "1." And then "77". Does that mean 177 degrees or something different? What seems to be the problem and how do I go about fixing it? Thanks man.

I turn my unit on cool to a low 60 degree and it starts off great. Kicks out cold air. Runs about 2 mins and then the capacitor kicks off for a minute or two which causes warm outside air to blow in and then the capacitor kicks back on and a minute of cool air returns but only for a minute until the cool/warm cycle continues. Would that be an old faulty capacitor issue? Or do I need a refrigerant recharge?

What brand do you recommend a wall ac from home depot or Lowe's? I want to replace a Friedrich wallmaster. Seems like reviews are hit and miss with all brands. I regret tossing out an old one during remodeling. Seems like new one have issues out of the box or lucky to last five years. Also the sleeves on the wall is 17 ×27..should I insert the new model with a new sleeve in the existing sleeve? Thanks for your time. May the Most High bless you brother.

Yeah, they don't make them like they used to. Honestly, I haven't tried any of those ac but I have heard good from the ac at home depot. Hey Derwood That would be a indoor DC motor problem. Check the connections from that DC motor to the small board inside the electrical compartment., if that's good more than likely you'll have to change out that motor and board
