Tricks for Secretive Bird Photography

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Photographing birds in the forest can be incredibly difficult. Over the years, I've attempted to capture one specifically elusive bird, the Mountain Quail. So far, I haven't succeeded in capturing the image I've been hoping for of one, but today, I'll be using sneaking and camouflage techniques to attempt to photograph one well.

Thank you for this, Jeremy! I love your style of presentation, it's calming and paced just right. I'm quite jealous of how close you can get to birds over there without having to stay completely hidden. Thank you for being honest about your mountain quail photos; glad you got to see them anyway!

What a great experience! I've struggled to get photos of our local gambles quail. I have great trailcam videos of them but when I'm there in person they are always just out of sight or too far away for a good photo. I'll keep trying though. I know as I work and learn my chances will get better.

@@JeremyNeipp Oh cool, something that is relatively inexpensive. That’s good news for us poors. The prebuilt camo adhesive kits that I have found for the lens, seem ridiculously expensive, plus they seem like they would leave a sticky residue. I like your solution much better. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

Whenever I think of the US, the nature is not one of the main things that come to my mind. It tends to be the highly urbanised parts and the tech and wealth of some richer people that stands for the US (at least from my point of view). I really hope we could shift this and make it clear it’s much more than just people living the American way of life, but rather also seeing the awesome nature… the by far only reason, I would even consider travelling to this huge country 😅😍

Haha that’s interesting to hear your perspective! Yea the US definitely has its pros and cons, but undoubtably we have some beautiful scenes and nature here. Everything from forests, mountains, beaches, cliffs, deserts, snow, you name it! Most of America is much more empty than people think. Hope you’re able to see it someday ☺️

That's called "baiting" and no respectful nature photographer does it. The only exception would be garden birds that visit bird feeders.
