Tributes to David Letterman, Part 22 of 31: Ray Romano 1995, 2015
To commemorate the 5th anniversary of Dave retiring from late night television (his last show was on May 20, 2015), I've put together a series of "first and last" appearances, the latter paying tributes in their own ways to the last giant of late night (h/t Jason Zinoman).
Part 22. Ray Romano
1. May 23, 1995
2. May 8, 2015
The 2015 guest appearance comes from Andrew Lynch's superb KZread upload, linked here: • Video
Note: The "first appearance" card at the end gives Ray's debut appearance as "March 23, 1995." It was actually two months later on May 23.

Letterman is known for not taking compliments well but Ray did such a brilliant job of it that even Letterman had to concede
The last giant of late night. I wholeheartedly agree.

For me it’s Johnny, Dave, then the others
Ray has to be talking about Aaron Holiday who plays basketball with his son. Justin and Jrue are his brothers. They all went to UCLA and all went pro.
His delivery is perfect
Awesome video! As noted, its commemorating a first and last, I get it. But this would be so complete if this video had Ray Romano's first appearance on Letterman, his appearance after the finale of ELR, and then Romano's last appearance on Late Show.

Then it wouldn’t have been his first and last. As the title suggests, this was Part 22 of 31 “First and Last” appearances on Dave. Adding another appearance here that was neither first nor last would have destroyed the point.

@@dongiller as I stated firstly, "I get it." All I'm saying is, there once upon a time was a KZread video of Romano's appearance on Letterman, after the finale of ELR. That video is nowhere to be found anymore. I wished it was inserted in the middle of this video. But once more, "I get it."
“I lost money on that hug” hahaha
SHORTS!
Where were Dave's pants!

This is great. But I think the Late Show suffered with every kissing ass endlessly and onto the next guest, I saw the Drew Barrymore on Gunthries (sp) show...that was nauseating.
