Tribal Villagers Hear Acapella (Pentatonix) for the FIRST TIME! Body Language Analyst Reacts!
Ойын-сауық
Is body language universal? Do we all express certain feelings the exact same way? The KZread channel @TRYBALS exposes Tribal people to western products, music and videos for the first time. But what can their body language tell us about how they really feel about these experiences? And are there some non-verbal behaviors that don't translate at all? Find out now?

Ha thanks. I often talk about this and it comes down to where my experience came from. Although now I do interview consulting, I initially learned and honed reading people as an entertainer, on stage. Truth is I would never in a million performances pick an Abdul to come up on stage, I have the luxury of choosing people from the audience that are an easier read. Interrogators have no choice. They have to work with the person in front of them.

Hi, I was born blind, and wlth neural heating deficit. My site was restored after about six weeks or so. I will be 80 in September, and suffer from being legally blind, due to severe glaucoma. My hearing has gotten worse over the years. It’s been quite a journey. In spite of everything, I am a natural harmonizer, and have belong to many choirs and small groups. Singing a cappella has always been the best. That’s because when the song ends you must be on the same key you started with. Once belong to a church music group, that always sang for the 730 mass in our parish. We worked together for about eight years, and we got really really good. It was so much fun to harmonize. You just can’t imagine how satisfying it can be to to create a harmony. Hearing and feeling the horror we created was just the best.

Hopefully someone can let you know that right near the end of your post the word 'horror' has popped up instead of what I am assuming should be 'harmony'. Your beautiful post needs the harmony of the correct word 😊
I get the impression Muharam is heavily involved in music in his daily life. Either he simply loves actively listening to music, or maybe he's a choir director or music teacher or something similar. He seems to be the most in tune with the musicality of it all, where the others are focused on the emotions or the mechanical aspects.
I found Trybal when they covered James Blunt singing ‘Monsters’. Since then I’ve been fascinated by them. They are so elegant joyful and empathetic. An absolute pleasure to watch

As a musician who has performed all around the world, 'reading the room' is always a challenge. Audiences in Japan could just be quietly sitting there as the music plays and loving it while you're thinking, 'Oh man, we're bombing...' Americans are probably the most expressive when they like (or hate) something. You usually know what they're thinking right away.

I went to a Pentatonix concert in the US where the audience was so loud in screaming their approval that their singing was inaudible. I think if you like the music, you actually want to hear it and should applaud and scream afterwards. Do the screaming for a band you got dragged to and don't actually want to hear! 😅

My favorite are the 2 videos they did on the song "Zombie." It's interesting to see the stark differences in their body language between 2 versions of the same song. I also LOVE Mohammad's point of view between the 2 videos.
Muharam is such a genuine lovely person. He seems like a sweetheart.
lmao “if you’re ever being interrogated contact this man”
Mukhtiar's eyebrow flash was also his appreciation for the woman's beauty as the video shows a close up of her at the same moment. I'm certain of it because the interviewer asks him shortly thereafter if he planned to paint her & he did the eyebrow flash again in response to the question.

I'm only halfway through, but I love everything about this video. I am someone who's very empathetic and highly sensitive, so I'm sitting here exactly as you are describing.... my face is saying sadness, but it's simply the emotion I'm feeling from listening to this rendition, which is giving me chills 🥹 It's hauntingly beautiful 😍
I think the eyebrow flash you talked about at 22:46 is actually him appreciating Kirstin's beauty. If you look at the exact moment it happens at 18:53 and how his smile turns appreciative in addition to the eyebrows flashing, it's the moment she shows up in her closeup on the screen. That's my read on that anyways.

This is such a positive thing to watch. I love it! Ordinary people are fascinating. I do love the old man too, because he gave tremendous praise by praising the "Ustad", the supposed teacher that taught Pentatonix. By calling the teacher great he inadvertently said that Pentatonix is great. He reminds me of an old greengrocer from my early childhood who used to praise my mother when I showed proper social skills but never gave me a direct compliment for my behaviour. I wonder whether he's always been this stoic or that he learnt to control himself through life experience.

That's an enlightening explanation. I've experienced something like that before with my children being indirectly "complimented". I think it feels different, in a respectful way, than just complimenting the kids.
28:01 first thing i thought of when you did that with your hands with those words was Tiffany Gomas on the plane saying 'that mf-er is not real!' 😂 So glad you are doing this break down! Ive watched Trybals for yrs and it always feels like sitting down with friends and just chatting. Its a good reminder that at the end of the day we are all just ppl and all the categories we devise for each other really tells us so little about each other. Adnan does a good job at letting each of the reactors personalities shine. In a way, behavioral arts is about setting aside preconceived notions of all those categories and just looking at the person. It has practical applications, but i think it also is a way to experience things too... it focuses our observations outwards into reality instead of just in our mind. Youve given me lots to think about!
I've seen the Trybals before, in passing, on KZread, and it's really fascinating. After I finish your video, I will definitely go and subscribe. Your aside about eyebrow flashes being universal made me wonder if the lack of visible eyebrows on very light people (redheads, like myself, or albinos) is what makes many people immediately dislike or distrust us. It's a definite thing that I've noticed. Maybe an inability to read the eyebrow immediately makes us appear odd?

This is the first time I’m seeing one of your videos and I’m hooked! I’m a speech-language pathologist and I work primarily with children and adults with developmental disabilities. The vast majority of my students have autism, so I’m often trying to teach them these common nuances of nonverbal communication. They pick up on the bigger, more obvious nonverbal communication behaviors but often struggle with the smaller, quicker behaviors and how the combination of simultaneous behaviors or the quick succession of behaviors can help us more accurately infer an individuals thoughts, emotions, and intentions. I’m looking forward to exploring more of your videos to see if I can use any of them to help teach my students! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!

Brilliant video again Spidey! Found this one particularly interesting. Please do more like this 🙏🏻 Never seen Trybals videos before but will definitely start watching them now. Muharam immediately piqued my interest. I recognised a fellow music lover in his first appearance purely by his reaction to being told that they would be listening to a song. This man is someone who, like myself, is driven by music. He doesn’t just listen to it, he *feels* it. We are not people who can switch off to music. Wherever we are, if there is a song playing, it will capture our attention like an I-phone picking up a hot-spot signal. You can see in his reactions later on in the video that Muharam is swept away by the music and the emotion of the song. I really feel that it resonates strongly with him. At the end of the interview when he is reserved in describing the video, I think it is because he has “come back down to earth”. Expressing the emotions he felt in the moment after the fact may feel foolish or embarrassing. I often feel that way when music has transported me to a place of euphoria, passion or sorrow which does not align with how I actually feel. Good music really can transport you away from yourself. 11:45 When Muharam clenches his fists and goes “oooh” is so relatable! I recently attended a gig which I was enjoying so much, that I was practically climbing over the balcony because I just couldn’t get close enough to the music. I wanted to be IN the music. But then the band began a song, which I immediately recognised as one I love and that I hadn’t expected them to play. Even in the moment, I realised that my reaction could be misinterpreted as annoyance or disgust. This was because I had (fairly violently) thrown my arms up, twisted my whole upper body away from the stage, lifted my head to the sky scrunched up my face making an “Urgh!” sound. It must have looked like I’d been punched in the face! I kinda was in a figurative sense, because for a split second it overwhelmed me to the point of being (emotionally) painful. As Gen Z might say, I got “hit in the feels”. 😅 Music is a universal language. Whatever life throws at me, I always seem to find the music that I need at that time. The language is irrelevant. I once became obsessed with a Japanese song which felt incredibly powerful to me. When I finally translated the lyrics a week later, I burst into tears because they described my exact situation and feelings. Something in the music had resonated with something in me and that experience made me far more open to foreign language music than ever before. Music is a powerful thing and watching the effect that this song has on (most of) this panel is fascinating. 😊 Thank you Spidey!
Wow! I loved this analysis & their reactions. All your videos are interesting, but this was intriguing & honestly my favourite!
What an educational experience this is. I loved your commentary. I'll check out their other videos. Thanks.
This was curious enough that I watched the original video. Thank you for pointing it out. I noticed all the men in one form or fashion talked as much with their hands as with their facial expressions. Muharam was the most expressive, no doubt. He seemed to be the most open to react to the music on the emotional level first and then to the intellectual "how'd they do that?" level second. The ladies mostly kept their hands below the table. I'm assuming a cultural aspect. The ladies: Lakshmi seemed to approach the music technically/intellectually first and emotionally second, where Parvati felt the emotion first and the intellectual second. Most of the time, when we saw Laksimi's hands, she was miming the drum beat on the chest instrumentation. I interpreted Mukhtiar's eyebow flash to relate to the fact it was when the lady was front and center singing and she's pretty. Mohammad talked mostly with his thumbs when he wanted to emphasize a point. He also keyed in on the sad-eyebrows and related it to other instances of sad eyebrows so was doing some body language interpretation of his own. Abdul looked to me to be analyzing the music style to see how it could be incorporated and brought back to teach or get the the music teachers to enhance their music. I viewed his consumption of the music to be intellectual first and emotional second.
Please more of that content! I enjoyed this video so much. I enjoy your content in general,, you're very good at your job, and I'd be super excited to see moreTrybals analyses:3 cheers
Spidey this is a great one! On top of this: Great awareness of cultural differences and similarities, body language, reactions to music, differences in the amounth of body language per person and once again letting us know about the 90% body language myth. There is one thing that I absolutely love about this one... I love how we learn the importance of context here. That is something i think people can forget to take into consideration often. When it is such an important, even essential part of analysing pretty much anything. Thank you for putting that extra emphasis on that! So many people draw conclusions based on half-info. This context awareness is so important. Even in day to day critical thinking. So thank you for putting it in your video here. ❤
I clicked so fast when I saw this. I LOVE watching them. They touch my heart every time. ❤️
Oh, I love the Tribal people trying new experiences channel!! Thank you so much for showcasing them and analyzing this today. I appreciate your work, Spidey!
I love this - this is all the content I need. Please never stop making videos.
I lived in Bulgaria for a while and it's super weird to adjust to the opposite nodding. There was a lot of awkward standing in front of a cash register waiting for something they've told/nodded me they don't have.😅😅😅
The way I clicked when I saw the thumbnail. I’ve watched you for a while, I’ve watched many of the tribal reactions and Pentatonix is my favorite band of all time and I’m going to go see them for the 4th time in June!
I watched another of their videos in which they reacted to "Man of Constant Sorrow" by Home Free (another a capella group). In that one, Abdul said that he liked Pentatonix better and that he got goose bumps while listening to Pentatonix. So I guess he liked it after all. 🙂

Wow!!! lol. Imagine having goosebumps and staying that still?! The man is an enigma
Been a fan and follower for a while and always appreciate your videos, but I especially enjoyed this one! What a great idea for a video- fascinating analysis! *loved* it!! Thanks, Spidey! 🫶
I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail! Trybals is such a lovely channel! And then I got even more excited when I noticed the reaction was to Pentatonix. I've been a fan since they were on The Sing Off!
Hey Spidey! Have you ever heard of The Watcher channel? They recently made a video telling subscribers they are starting their own streaming platform and leaving KZread behind (there are more details within that) but they are being accused of being greedy etc and losing subs. Can you analyze their announcement and tell us what you pick up on as far as body language and their delivery? Thanks! Love your channel
Love this Spidey, and loved observing the reactions of each of the tribals. I couldn't help but wonder how you would read my crystal clear body language every time I hear this song lol. Now I'd love to see the tribals reaction to Disturbed's cover of Sounds of Silence!
I bet the first guy, is the best Grandpa!
Awesome video! I’ve been following Trybals for years, fantastic reaction channel!
I loved this type of video. I get so excited when I give my opinion out loud, and then you say it, and it's the same. It makes me feel like I'm really learning this 😊
I love, love, love watching your commentary on something I have already watched because I can get so much more out of it from you !!!
LOVE THIS ! So excited to watch!
I too love Pentatonix and also @Trybals and the reactions. Just love it! And most of it Muharam - he seems so pure so genuine. Love, that you've done this video to that chanel.
“You’re trying it aren’t you” just as I’m trying it! lol - just great!
Every time I see these delightful folks I am again overwhelmed with affection for them. Thanks for looking at them with/for us.
I really like your takes on people involved in current events, but this was such a fun video to watch. It was sort of a breath of fresh air to see something like this for a change (though when an interestinf interview or something happens, I run to youtube to see what you have to say about it, so please don't stop the other stuff!)
