Love it! I was at a model railway exhibition with my dad in or around 1978 and saw a second hand 3F for sale. I went back to my dad to ask if I could borrow £6 from him (I had this in my piggy bank, at home, not on me...). When I got back to the dealer, it had sold…. I always had a soft spot for that loco after that experience!

You just reminded me of a jumble sale that I was at as a young lad of 8 years old. I bought a book for 2p and on my way out I discovered a whole pound note in between the pages that had been there for a few years. Daft as I was - I thought that the seller had accidentally left it there so I took it back and gave it to him. The tight beggar gave me 50p as a reward for being honest.. Mind you fifty pence was a lot of spending money back in 1972.

I always look forward to Sundays and another visit to your fantastic vintage layout. Model railways have come a long way since those early Tri-ang days, the level of detail on today’s models along with multitudes of electronic functions is truly a wonder. However I am always drawn to the classic trains of days gone by, when things were much simpler, and yes, better. Thanks for taking the time to share your passion with us. I’m already looking forward to next week’s video! Have a great week and best regards from Canada!🇨🇦

Morning Oscar, Great goods video and diesel passenger at the end. There is something about the survival of these oil bottles that is very pleasing considering they are prime candidates to get lost. 3F in very nice condition and looks spot on with the wagons as it would with a couple of coaches. Always a treat to see a couple of trains running. Gordon

Good morning Oscar it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Hope you are OK. What a sight to see the goods train set running on your wonderful railway. It was great to see these wagons in real life in the railway yard i worked in when I started work on BR in 1970 when I was 15 years old . London Brick Company had two sidings in the yard for their brick wagons. Their staff where a rough and ready bunch of men and when I used to walk between the brick wagon sidings taking off wagon labels off the side of the wagons the men would shout and throw bricks at me whilst having a good laugh at my expense, Lol. 🙂 But it was all part and parcel of the job. If you could survive working in a railway goods yard you could survive anywhere on the railway network. Happy days indeed. These were the best years of my railway career. Well as always Oscar it was great to see all these wonderful items from a bygone era. To see them actually working on your layout takes me back to my youth again. Well it's that time again for my cup of tea and a toasted tea cake. Keep safe Oscar, hope your family are OK and ill see you next week. Have a safe week ahead. 🙂👍🚂

It's always nice to find things you had forgotten about tucked away here and there, however, I've been on the search for two wagons in the last couple of weeks, the later style Hopper wagon R214 in light grey, I know I have two of them boxed as they were hard items to find in the first place, just can't find them.. The opposite of finding things you had forgotten about and very frustrating. They'll turn up when I stopped looking for them.. All the best. Oscar

Hi Oscar, I am so envious of all those beautiful boxes that you have, to store the wagons in? Much of my Tri-ang collection is from my own childhood and alas, I rarely kept the boxes in my early days.. (The trains were never packed up for years)? Much later on I started to value the boxes a bit more, but the early boxes were long gone by then? Such a pity... But I still have the wagons, all still in use I might add? Really enjoyed today's running, as I always preferred the freight trains.. I think that all of the wagons that you have run today are represented on our layouts.. I must mention, that I have never seen a "Well Wagon" in the same colour as yours before. Mine are all blue, green or arange.. My grandson is more of a passenger train lover that I.. His layout is built on later PECO and System 6 type of track, He has a collection of many early wagons and coaches, but some have deep flanges that are a bit noisy on the finer track? With some thin wire "spacers" inserted between the sleeved wheels they all run quite well though? A Princess or Britannia will still pull six of the coaches.. Thank you for another great piece of nostalgia today.. Your videos are always looked forward to... Rob & Charlie

Good morning Rob and Charlie, Glad you enjoyed a look over these wagons. I'm not sure I was careful or valued the boxes when I was a child. I know many of the things that were passed on to my brother and I from another family member did have boxes at the time. We were far more interested in the items themselves, sadly all of these are long gone now as I grew up and left home they disappeared... All the best. Oscar

Good morning Oscar, that's a lovely model in very good condition, its always good to see the goods train and the combination of wagons. I do enjoy spotting wagons and saying I've got that one. I've got the brick wagon and made a insert from brick paper on card, it's ok, and my well wagon is green in colour and we've got a tractor on that one. All adds interest for my grandson who likes to keep me on my toes. He's 9 years old and he enjoys running the older engines as much as the more modern and dare say more detailed models. There is something very special watching a train of tanker wagons run around the layout. Thank you for making Sunday mornings enjoyable. Take care Oscar, Eddy xx

Thank you for the presentation it brought back many memories. Good morning John great to hear you still have some of your original items. The NATO items were a lovely group of exciting models. I think they first came along in 1962 before becoming the battle space range in the late 60s rocket launcher was available as a single item or as part of a the RS.50 Defender set of 1964 containing a green diesel shutter, the searchlight wagon, the four rocket launcher wagon and an exploding car. The set went on to be altered and offered in the later Battle space livery, I've included a couple of links below. I do have a few of these items but have yet to show any in a video. Hope, the information is with some help. Oscar www.tri-ang.co.uk/rs50.html www.tri-ang.co.uk/indexbattle.html

81/3 is that £4.07 in decimal money? The 3F tender locomotives is a lovely accompaniment to the 3F jinty tank engine. I think that tender model last saw service with the Sir Dinadin engine of the 1970s. The selection of wagons are excellent for a train set with the two bogie wagons giving excellent play value, however, that set looks hardly used in its 64 years.

It's always interesting to think how sets like this got away with not being played with over that sort of period, were they given as gifts and not wanted or was the owner just very careful putting everything away once finished? I'm interested in what you use to clean up all the old oil/carbon deposits on the loco electrics, your container looks like it is lighter fuel liquid? And where can you buy this kind of stuff? Good morning David I do use lighter fuel which can be bought at the newsagent or many discount stores, I have for a long time used Servisol Aero Klene 50 which is an electrical contact cleaner considered safe for use on electrical parts and plastics however this product has recently become discontinued as I think the company no longer exist. I have recently bought a an alternative recommended by my local electrical store Kontakt-Chemie 601 which so far appears to do the job very well, There are a number of other brands available, it's always best to test these products carefully before you use them on something valuable if you're unsure of their effects. The Mk 3 couplings are light years ahead of the previous offering. The Mk 2s (in my opinion) let down the overall look of the vehicle. It's as if Triang ran out of money for experimentation and came up with something cheap to get the product on the shelves quickly.
