Trevor Bauer: A Misunderstood Superstar

Спорт

Trevor Bauer Is one of the most criticized and polarizing baseball players in the world. From receiving consistent negative press like being called a "clubhouse cancer," to becoming one of the few players ever blackballed by the league's own commissioner. Given all this, It’s no surprise that he's no longer in the spotlight. BUT, what If i told you that Trevor Bauer is a misunderstood superstar who's been painted as a villain by the media and Major League Baseball. But why did this all start? And Why is he so hated?

    Fantastic video. Watching Trevor on Momentum and on his own KZread channel, I cannot see how anyone can question his love and dedication to baseball. He has said he made mistakes, he also admitted he is socially awkward and that meeting and talking to people isn't easy for him. Watching his videos you see his thought process about working out and how he goes into preparing for a start. Bauer's biggest issue is he made light of an issue baseball wanted hidden and for the audacity of showing emotion and being a character on the mound. In a world where in the NFL after scoring a TD we have whole team choreographed celebrations, pumping your chest, or having a celebration after a big strikeout is just too much.

  • @Improudofyou37

    @Improudofyou37

    No one ever questioned his love for the game. Where is this even coming from? Bauer's biggest issue is wanting all the attention/drama with none of the blowback. You look at how he left the Dbacks and the Indians/Guardians and why he has rubbed people the wrong way. I'm not criticizing him for his shortcomings because we all have them, but asking why no team will sign him it's because he makes it all about him and what he's doing.

I started following CloseCallSports, a KZread channel that breaks down ejections, a couple years ago, and love watching Jomboy breakdowns as well. Trevor became the only baseball player I follow last year. The videos from his year in Japan were incredible. He not only showed his training, and broke down games he was in, but also showed how he was a fish out of water learning a new culture in Japan. He's pretty entertaining. I love him. I think he’s an awesome guy. The personal things? I have no control. I have no say. Obviously, nothing ever came from it.”" -Mookie Betts. Also how is a guy so hated all of a sudden loved in Japan and Mexico. Same reason why the US media is dead silent when he's winning and cherry picks the moments where he had an off day. I'm going to be the first to say I never liked baseball but loved being the stat nerd and I understand why people don't like Bauer but sometimes you let guys prove to you that they're a failure instead of making them one in your image.

    The “media” aspect of all of this creates a certain perception both ways. It is so bad on one end that on the other end, people are retroactively trying to pump up his dominance, when there isn’t much there. Bauer’s cy young was in a shortened season. For a starting pitcher, that no time to prove your dominance, so that isn’t much of an accolade. Only 1 all star appearance that took him 6 years. Bauer was never actually the best pitcher in the league, certainly not for a sustained period of time. The drone thing in the playoffs is a lot worse as a fan than anything. I can’t imagine how disappointing it is expecting an ace to go dominant in the playoffs, only to hurt himself for his media page. It feels this side of the aisle, led by Bauer himself, is trying to get fans to think that sort of thing is cool or normal for pros when it isn’t. Winning is important, that is what fans of franchises want most. Bauer wasn’t exactly winning or pushing the needle for any team. Compare him to his idol Tim Lincecum, who in his first 6 years had 4 AS, 2 legit cy youngs, and 2 WS rings. Fantastic playoff debut as well, leading his team in his first October experience. That is true dominance over at least 5 years, from someone who was also a clear student of pitching mechanics. If Bauer’s career looked more decorated, I would understand the blacklisting argument more. I don’t actually believe there is some collusion of people trying to keep him out at this point. It is far more simple to observe that there are plenty of talented pitchers coming up, so why bother with this situation as a team? It would be a personal crusade. He would be an average pitcher at best if he came to MLB right now.

    90% of the issues with him was he saw limitations of clean pitching ( without “cheating”) and called it out years ago and after being blamed as a spear head for the rise of cheating he backed off. Where the real problem is over 5 or 6 games in the 9th his rpm went up an impossible amount then a year before his big contract offer he was all the sudden throwing 3000s when before that he could rarely hit 1500rpm throws. Trevor Bauer cheated but he cheated in the way that everyone else did so instead shaking the whole sport apart they canned him so the approach to getting rid of all cheating ether doesn’t happen or happens very very slowly

    My all time favorite player!! So sad he's not playing in MLB. Those abuse allegations were completely fabricated. People don't like him, and want him gone, then out of nowhere abuse allegations that lead to his preposterously long suspension. Just allegation, and Manfred basically bans him. That's so suspect. I think Manfred is behind the whole thing, he's a crook. Hope to see Trevor in the league again soon!
