note: im playing trepang2 on highest gamma setting cus i have a hard time seeing anything most of the time otherwise, sadly most environments look like unreal engine 4 doodoo anyway on regular gamma

    Not sure who ever claimed that. But there's no way it would get even close to how interactive F.E.A.R. Replicas are. They play dead, crawl under things, go on year long flanks, vault over things, jump through windows, go full stealth mode, some times, when they're the last one standing and only come out of hiding when you see them, or they see you. They'll refuse to push you some times, other times they'll rush you, or throw a grenade at your cover spot and other times they'll push up slowly, they have a really long list of specific call outs. It's not bad from most interactions I've had with it, but, I'm STILL waiting for a game to implement AI that's as interactive as the F.E.A.R. AI.

    One major difference that you have to take into consideration here is that you used the beginning enemies (mallcops) as a comparison to the replicas in fear. The mallcops in trepang2 are the weakest enemy in the game and can't throw grenades to flush you out like you saw in fear. Another thing to note is how the ai in fear is much more scripted than trepang2's, which is designed to be more dynamic and less reliant on key points in the map set by the developers to help guide the ai. A better comparison here would be the Black Ops dudes in trepang2 vs the replicas in fear. Black Ops are much more aggressive than the other enemy types. How Black Ops differ is as follows: -more aggressive pushes on your position -more frequent grenade tosses, as well as the ability for a single black ops to double grenade throw at you -longer melee engagement distance -faster detection and reaction times sorry for the long comment, but I thought it would be important for others to think about this before drawing a swift conclusion about the ai.

    trepang is bassicaly what its like if you tell someone to make a fear game without them understanding what fear is, they probably thought fear is all about "oh yeah this cool guy jumping around with dual weapons killing dudes in slow motion" without caring about the small details that made fear actually work i have lots of fun with trepang personally but its inferior to fear

    hard agree, it's a fun goofy 7/10 game you can just brainlessly play if you play it on the middle difficulties. but it just doesn't get fear, it feels like a parody game. it reminded me a lot of severed steel except done more jankily

    @@AmnesiaMau5 just reached a horror level in a abandoned shack, the horror is actually really good, id argue better than fears.
