Trending Antique Vintage Categories Are Killing it on eBay!

So many choices! We have the good fortune to get to pick 20 items from some hot collecting categories this month to sell on eBay auctions, and the results are in...how have they done, and what does it tell us about where the antique and vintage market is today?
Lesson #1 is that it's not always about being pretty! Gargoylish figures, monstrous critters and mythical beasts are hot with today's collectors, whether it's a Lladro centaur boy, a strange looking pickle jar or a Hagen-Renaker Little Horrible figure. We talk about the high number of bids and final values these are getting, and why they have such appeal in the market today.
Lesson #2 is that there's still lots of interest in stylish things, even in categories some people avoid because they're "not hot"! That's why we see Faberge eggs, Roseville Moss and Pacific Pottery bowls selling well, with new collectors discovering them at today's more affordable prices. So does it pay to be "on trend", or should you look for things that other people are ignoring?
The jury is still out on trending versus non trending items, but one thing for sure is Lesson #3...you can't sell it if it isn't real! We talk about one fake that caught us, our timing was right but the "trending" item was not real and not allowable. Our loss is your gain as we talk about the tell we missed that should've kept us from buying it in the first place!
We are always glad to share this knowledge so collectors and resellers alike can understand more and have a better experience in their own online shopping and selling. Thanks so much to our members for their contributions that make these deeper dives and market follow ups possible! Members also get early access to these listings when they happen, so check out the membership link under the dashed line in the description below for more information.

Great sales! The _Little Horribles_ were...well...horrible 😂 They were fantastic sellers! I like the Arcadia oyster shell with the pearl. That Faberge egg is fantastic! The Roseville _Moss_ planter is definitely my vibe. I love the Spanish moss in Louisiana. eBay, for me, is there for what I'm specifically looking for, at any given time. As far as collections, I don't have space for more stuff, so I've not done a lot of random searching on eBay lately for that kind of things. If there's something I need for a project, etc., I search specifically for those items. Etsy...I avoid at all costs, if possible. I'm not fond of the way they operate their platform. I enjoy seeing what the items bring. Thanks for sharing this!

EBay has strange rules, I once sold a plastic mystery ball made to look like a Chinese ivory one. I listed it as ivory colored plastic and it sold for $65.00. Three weeks after I shipped it EBay contacted me and stated I had violated their policy and they were suspending my account for 4 days. Go figure and who did the suspension hurt? Not me. Great video, always learn about something new that I can look for when I go hunting!

The lead in Pyrex paint could be absorbed in the skin by contact . As well as get on the skin of the hands which was susceptible to cross contamination to foods being handled. I doubt anyone licked the painted exterior. Lol. But i have watched videos on yt on results of testing conducted on Pyrex coatings, which had positive for lead results and concluded that users could spread lead into whatever food they touched. It did scare me!
