I came here today because I was stuck finding 2 coins, 1 in the higher bit of the tree and the second in the sea behind the skull. I have just completed this for the first time after playing it as a 9-year-old in 1988. Well happy

Amazing game that I spent many hours trying to complete. The music just has that Dizzy charm. Love the ending too. Just....the end haha.

I’ve only just completed this. Last time up played it was probably 1990-1991. Could only Find 29 of the 30 coins. I played it on the amstrad, the music used to slow down when there was a lot of movement on the screen, usually when you were about to die. The spectrum always used to blend the colours. In its defence the spectrum always seemed to load more games. My amstrad was notorious for not loading games, we were always cleaning the heads with methylated spirits(it didn’t help). Before I got a modulator so I could plug it into a colour tv we had a green screen monitor. Those were the days. 😂

Yeah that was the Speccy's biggest problem, bad colour clash.

My favourite Spectrum music of all time is Treasure Island Dizzy and Bionic Commando.

Think this and the first one were the only two I completed, as a 9yr old. I had Fantasy Land Dizzy too. Loved them all... I even purchased them for my Amiga 500+ and 1200. Still got them in the loft. Hope they still work!?! 🤔

Does the 128k version of Treasure Island Dizzy appear in the Dizzy collection compilation ?

The graphics look the same as the C64, except on the C64, they didn't blend. I think the Spectrum version was imported directly to the C64. At 2.02 just to the left of the cage trap on the floor on the C64 version is a blue thing which when you pick it up reads as a "Sinclair Abuser Mag". One of those little digs I think that different software houses had at each other. I suppose in jokes at the time.

It was actually a friendly dig at the magazine Sinclair User. But yeah, it was fairly common to have industry in-jokes in games back then. It was a more civilised time, before companies constantly sued each other for daring to even mention copyrighted names.

@@flydream2 Nah, there was a bug that prevented the 128K music from playing on a +2A or +3. The trick was to enter 48K mode from +3 BASIC by typing SPECTRUM and then load it from there.

@@Demonmixer Yeah I had an Amstrad 464 back in the day and there was no colour saturation like there is here fir Spectrum, dizzy didn't change colour to the background, amstrad suffered with music slowing down when jumping through, guessing it was down to the computing the roll or something

I see to remember you only having a single life on this game. Other dizzys I think you had three. One false roll and it was literally game over and start again lol. Great days
