Treasure Hunting on the Treasure Coast with Terry Shannon!

In this video, I go treasure hunting near the Turtle Trail beach access on Florida's famous 'Treasure Coast' with the legendary treasure hunter and author, Terry Shannon.
Share with me not only some candid conversation and treasure hunting tips from one of the last of the real 'old school ' Florida treasure hunters, but also the 'top secret' of one of the little known area treasure hunting locations from Mr. Shannon himself.
BACK STORY: Late last year I attended a Minelab distributor event hosted by the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum and the Treasure Coast Archaeological Society in Sebastian, Florida. A raffle was held to benefit the Society, the grand prize being a treasure hunting outing with Mr. Shannon. I entered and I won. I also won a Minelab T-shirt on the test field.
Due to timing and weather conditions, we waited until just recently for when the days were longer and the weather conditions were better. Since then we have become fast friends.
I want to express my gratitude to Mr. Shannon, the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum, the Treasure Coast Archaeological Society, and Minelab for making this treasure hunt and video possible.

    I have many good memories of my hunts down there around V marker and the surrounding beach back in the 90's. Some of us were hunting at 3 am in the morning during tropical storms. It took 10 trips before I found my first spanish coin. I met a guy named Frank down there in the 90's with a small pickup. He gave me other good locations.I found Spanish from below Wabasso to Indiatlanic. Biggist haul was from Chuck's on a Thanksgiving Day with 75 coins. I probably wouldn't go now unless the cut was around 6 feet. (aka Mbounty)

    I hunted for years with a Garrett AT Pro and I found a lot of great things but I have since upgraded to the Minelab Manticore. I know from experience you are at an extreme disadvantage using a Garrett on a salt water beach.

    Agree 100 %. I have used an AT Pro for 11 years and can say ATP is terrible in wet sand. Stick to the Sea Hunter or Minelab Excalibur for the beach or get Minelab Equinox or Manticore which will do it all.

    I find my AT-Pro terrible in the wet sand. Very unstable and unreliable. Too many of those 'Ghost Targets' you refer to. I use my Equinox 600 on the beach and the Pro for woods and parks.

    You got a ghost target because you’re trying to use a garret on salt, lol. Not against Garrett, just no single frequency machine works like a multi-frequency as you probably well know. How cool to spend time with Terry

  • @frankhilladventures3620

    @frankhilladventures3620

    2 жыл бұрын

    Actually, we get these ghost targets here because many of us, myself included, turn the iron settings almost all the way up. You never know when you are going to go over a cannon ball that is a couple of feet deep. With these settings, small pieces of iron that have dissolved into the sand leave a trace and can be read as a hit and on these beaches, you dig everything. This happens even with Minelab machines and besides, I have been using Garrett machines for thirty years now, and I swear by them. In fact, my AT Pro seems to do quite well in the salt and sand.
