I just have to say thanks for making this video, there's a few videos out there for this style of grill replacement but yours may be the best one I've seen. I also took your advice and just went ahead and installed a washer when mounting the tss unit and never received any tss warnings.

Thanks for the details regarding the TSS sensors. Most other videos skip through the details of that part. It's really the only part im sure most people are here to see. I don't really understand how it works, tbh I don't even want it. The rest of it is very straight forward. Thanks dude!

Hey Sean! Great video. Thanks for making it for all of us that want this mod. I wanted to add that I lifted my 22 Taco 6", had the codes cleared, and the safety light never came back on. If this helps anyone, I used a washer on my 2021 Tacoma off road and everything is fine. No lights on the cluster. 30 minutes job thanks to this video. I haven't tried to put the sensor without the washer, I just did what the video showed and it works.

On a 2019 or older I like the heritage grill as a replacement, but on a 2020 or newer I prefer the OEM grill.

There is no difference in the looks for a gen 3. Only the grills and, trd pro bed stamp for 2022 and newer, and the TRD Pro door emblems on pre 2022 models. Those are the only differences. If you don't have a trd pro, then nothing changed except for the grille. If you like the trd pro grille on the 2020 and newer trucks, you'll like it on the 2019 and older gen 3 tacomas because they're identical.

Howzit bruddah! What is the name of that tool that you used to pop off the screws and unlatch the clips? I need to get one haha! Also with the washer that you added, you just put it in between the grill and slot and then add the screw? I have one on the way for my 2022 TRD OFF ROAD. Looks great! Did same to my 2020 TRD OR prem. but had to make custom spot for front camera. Worked out great , no issues. Now you need raptor lights lol!

when you change the grill the sensor says error inside on the screen or not?

What did you do with the front facing camera?

Hmmm getting precelison error light. I installed the washer as suggested but got a error. So I suppose it's hit or miss if your going to get a the pcw off light on your dash ( it's orange with its on dedicated spot on the dash in case anybody is wondering)

The “tss” sensor you’re referring to is a radar for your radar cruise control. Since you’ve moved it’s position relative to the grill it needs to be recalibrated. A washer may keep the “tss” light off but it isn’t the correct fix. If the radar isn’t recalibrated for the new position your radar cruise won’t function as well as it did before.

I just did it to mine, and no problem at all. I tested the cruise control and worked great. Dont know it it recalibrated itself.

I don't really use cruise control so I haven't test that yet... but the TSS for lane departure works as normal.

@@SeanS54 the LDA works off your camera up by the mirror. Grille looks sick. I just don't want to risk needing to get the TSS recalibrated. That costs 500 or more. It's a hugely tedious process to do involving plumbobs, strings, and the Toyota diagnostics computer.

I drove for a bit without the grill sensor installed while waiting on the cover to come in and the PCS and LDA stated malfunction. I didn’t think it mattered but I guess it uses it somehow

The normal grill looks belter only because the TRD griil has a shiny spot where the sensor is.

Not sure what size screws. They are very small screws. Take the emblem to your local hardware store and do a test fit.

I got the PT228-35170 on madhornets and it fit my 2021 sport, not trd but it says it fits both

Hey...I know Im not Sean but I had the same issue and I had even purchased an aftermarket UCA. It was rubbing the rear of the fender and the cab mount. The guys that installed the lift didnt know how to align it properly. I took it to another guy at an alignment shop and he was telling me that Toyotas are finicky and sometimes you have to play around with things. He moved the lower control arms and the problem was solved and this was with 33's the wheels have a 0 offset. You prob already have it taken care of by now...but just thought i would throw that in.

Did anyone have a problem with the lettering Fitment?

Any rattles with the aftermarket grill? How much did you pay for the truck? I’m in the market for one just like yours.

By any chance did Toyota fix the wandering transmission? They say it’s all over the place on the highway.

In my 21 TRD Sport I get a little gear searching. It's no issue at all and I probably wouldn't have noticed had I not seen the topic online. Ir seems to be more that its a 6 speed, not 8 plus like many others today.

I like the regular off road grill better imho

I really wish there was a permanent delete option for the tss. I realize that you can turn it off, but you have to do that each and every time you start the vehicle (annoying). If you simply unplug it you’ll get a permanent check engine light (annoying).

Projector headlights are standard, the LED is an upgrade. You can always put LED bulbs in, but they will still be projector looking vs the OEM ones on this vid.

@@mct8888 I did install 6K LED bulbs and honestly the output is subpar. I’d love to have the HID lights like his but I’m not paying the price tag lol

@@mct8888 I’m switching back to my halogens. The bright lights specifically are basically useless. I don’t like the dated look of halogen bulbs but I’d rather be able to see then care about the modernity of some lights.
