As a Long Beach native who moved to LA as a teen, how I see it is that it's like we did get involved but then again we didn't get involved with that beef between the Rollin 60s and the 83 Gangsters. For instance, the Eastside alone is a lot like the Westside of South Central in some aspects. The Rollin 60s fuck with the Rollin 20s (not NHC but still Rollin and claim deuces), The Bricc Boys (deuces who claim Rollin 50s on the Northside) and the Rollin 80s (they been deuces for years whom I'm hearing are now pushing NHC instead of WC these days), the Hoovers fuck with the Insanes (both claim treys), the 83 Gangsters fuck with the 19th Street Gangsters and the Sons Of Samoa (both also claim treys), and 18th Street even has a hood down in LB in the Wrigley area (around Eagle Street). So LB still fell in line like how everyone else in LA County did, and even though we never got directly involved with that war in LA, LA niggas still look at us as allies/enemies of their own enemies depending on what hood they're from and what hood a LB nigga might be from. I moved to South Central when I was 16 and I remember we stayed in the VNGs (also known as the Van Ness Brims) for a while, just around the corner from Crenshaw High School and they didn't like me over there because I was from Long Beach do to the fact that many of my family members and friends are from Rollin 20 Crip and Insane Crip. Van Ness, Harvard Park, and Fruit Town Brims are all tight, and Harvard Park Brims beef hard with the 59 Hoovers (All Hoovers are tight with Insane but mainly the 74 Hoovers) and the Van Ness Brims beef hard as fuck with the Rollin 60s who are tight with the Rollin 20s. I've been shot at, chased, and had to line it up and catch fades with certain niggas from South Central because of the sides that certain niggas from Long Beach chose. I've also gotten pressed by Inglewood niggas too behind that shit and I had to squabble with a few niggas from Inglewood Fam, Crenshaw Mafia, and Avenue Piru because they all hate the Rollin 60s (and all NHC) so much. Let me be clear, I'm not a gang member, I just grew up around the environment, but because of where I lived, where I'm from, and whom I'm related to, I still had to suffer some of the consequences of the gang life despite me never actually living it.

Maybe nowadays it’s different because of housing prices but back when these gangs were starting up, a lot of black families owned homes.
