Nice! removing reverse in this truck is a must. Those extra gears do you no good. Idc what anybody says, but if you actually bash this truck those gears will always randomly fail at some point. Nitros don’t need reverse anyways imo. Next good mod is to remove all the opti drive and installing the throttle and battery trays from the slayer pro 4x4. Much cleaner and practical than the boxy ones it comes with. Not a performance mod though.

Didn’t remove all the gears per Traxxas instructions. Left a gear and plastic piece.

If I do this will I be able to run a 2 channel transmitter on the truck? I have the revo that came with the model memory dubbed "traxxas link" (foreshadowing) that was sold around 2012. Anyways the reciever or something is starting to fail and just bug out, so I wanna replace it but am too cheap to spend extra on 4 channels to only use 3. So I was wondering if this would remove the need of the 3rd channel altogether

yup, only need a 2 channel with this mod. in fact, I'm running it with my 2-channel Traxxas TQi radio now.

So this is single speed and forward only now?

no, I think it's supposed to be run dry. there's a picture of "no oil" on the side of the transmission.

@@RazorRC do you happen to have the Manual it says check manual for oiling I got gas on my manual first day 😵‍💫 I watched a video and the guy in the comments said put a light coat of silicone oil but I can’t find the comment or video anymore I’m scared to rip it hard dry

The gears are weak and broke during mild bashing. Forward only gears are a lot thicker.

​@stringsattached67 because then something else will break. Also doing a forward only conversion saves on rotational mass. Therefore resulting in a increase of acceleration.

These bring back to the days of Kershaw designs for my Emaxx Pre Brushless days. I remember running 2 x Promatched 8.4 4600 mah packs 2 700ho Motors. The owner of a local Hobby Town Usa was making fun of me, Because his revo 3.3 had all the hop ups. My electic Absolutely destroyed Him. We raced 5 times he kept trying to save face but kept losing.... Im not hating on nitro by any means i think its still awesome just not for me. This video pretty cool. I like the variety of rc On your Channel..
