Hi friends :) we’ve already called Mikhail a few times since we left! He even found someone who could FaceTime us because he wanted to see our faces. The man truly is a problem solver! On a personal note, I was scared to take on so much travel without Ammar as he’s working on our big Iceman of Antarctica documentary, so I’m really grateful for all the amazing support I’ve felt behind all of these recent stories whether through watching, commenting, liking the videos or going as far as repping Seek Discomfort clothing, it is all appreciated. Much love to you all and see you in September once we’re back from break!! 💕

Moldova has been on my travel list for quite a while. I've mostly gotten familiarized with it through Eurovision. One thing I have gathered, an obviously it's no mistake, is that no matter how low budget everything is, Moldovan people always shine through with their charisma, passion and zest for life. All the luxury in the world cannot replace that feeling of belonging and being a accepted as a part of the community. I have, through years, formed a deep respect for Moldovans. This is why I can't wait to visit. Lots of hugs from Serbia xx

I think the reason is poverty. Poor people know what it's like to not have everything and can relate and want to help each other. Rich people are way more often assholes and think people who are poor deserve that and that it's their fault.

I had a experience like this in Taiwan with a very wonderful old caretaker of a temple in Taipei. We spent several days together, and he even consoled me over some inner pain I had at the time. I'll never forget him and I hope to see him again soon. Your experience with Mikhail is very palpable and you are blessed to have had the experience you had. I think in every country there is a very special old man or woman, a saint, waiting to find the right people to share life. You all treated him exceptionally well too. Really loved this.

I think this is the first video on youtube that reminded me travelling isn't only about sightseeing or how much you could shop or eat, but that the heart of traveling lies in the people you meet and the experiences you get. I wish I can travel like this. Where I meet really good people and that they may remember me for a long time. Perhaps become long distance friends or something. I just...i mean I'm just like everybody I guess. I want to meet people. Good people. And one day I know I will. Thank you for this spontaneous trip. You inspire people with what you share.
I stumbled upon your channel today and it happened to be this Moldova episode. Like so many others I laughed and shed tears. Your worries (yes, anxiety), depression, suicidal thoughts, EVERYTHING will melt away and be NO MORE when you lean on God and put your trust in him! When I have physical pain, I literally pray and the Lord quells it, that I am healed! Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals! People are bothered by his name. The world hates the truth and wants to continue living sinfully! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous.

just think that one day Mikhail was just out for his daily stroll in his boredrum life, some strange youngsters come up to him and he's defensive "what do you want", and then oh boy he wasn't expecting what came next. From the old grumpy Moldovian lonely chatting about his life as the elderly do, to part of the "team" going about on adventures.
I'm in tears after watching him say goodbye. Idk but it reminds me of my grandparents a lot
You guys ...you guys ....you guys and grandpa ...and beautiful Moldova just melted my heart .... The pure joy ...love and laughter you guys had on this just so wonderful.... It just shows it doesnt matter where your ftom or what age you are ... We all share this amazing humility and compassion
Did anyone notice how good of a communicator Eric is? He literally bridges the gap between generations perfectly without coming off as childish or making the other person feel out of place. That's fantastic! The transnistria video was an example but this video is PROOF! Eric needs to be on here more often. Love his energy!

Oh that was so sweet, the way you treated grandpa, great video
It breaks my heart to see, and feel, the tragedy that Mikhail has suffered. I could feel his loneliness, which is why he gravitated towards you three. Thank you for taking him under your wing....but in reality, I see that he took you three under his. As an ER/ICU/Trauma Nurse, I see so many elderly that have no one. Not one who cares. And that is why so many elderly will talk one's ear off.....because you might have been the only one who bothered to acknowledge them, in years. It is a sad truth. But you guys adopted this man, and made his life, better. Memories that he will think of as he passes to the next life. God bless you for putting a light back under that amazing man!!

Mikhail is a good example of how you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. I remember sitting next to a weird looking "old" guy (50yo, i was 19, that was old for me) on a train, that was late. He forgot his hat on the seat when he left and i didnt want to jump off the train to give it back but on the other hand i knew i would fell so bad if i didnt. So i jumped off and gave his hat back. He was sooo happy and when i told him that i missed my train now and had to wait some time for the next one, he sat down with me and we talked for a while. I told him that i was a photographer and showed him some of my works and he told me stories of his work as an elementary school teacher. I dont know why but we had some vibes, i was really mature for my age and he was pretty childish for his age and we changed numbers. Some month later i was in his city and we met again and drank something and we met again. He even travelled some times to my hometown (3h ride) to visit me, so i could show him my small little hometown... We became really good friends and i got a good joboffer and the opportunity to go to university, in his town. After some long talk we decided to move together because he always talked about his apertement having this one big & empty room because his wife died. He feels alone and is really happy to have me as some kind of company and i am happy to have like the coolest guy living with me. Sorry for bad english

The guys actually translated it wrongly. Mikhail's original question was something like "From where to where and why?", in Russian it's an usual combination of the W words, there's also a TV show in Russia called "What? Where? When?", so basically Mikhail's question construction was pretty similar. Mikhail used it in a humorous way, as he understood the guy was going to ask "how can I get there?". The translation made him look suspecting and untrustful, although in original the grandpa was totally in a joke mode.
The Mikhail jumpscare around 13:00 when he pops out of nowhere and says "the corporation" absolutely killed me. Had to pause the video cause I was laughing so much
