Hey Sara, I know a lot of upbringings around me are the traditional, school, uni, work, kids, retire, die! But I think I defiantly have a lot of encouragement to travel, especially with travel vloggers such as Ben Brown and FunforLouis! Traveling within Europe is pretty easy aswell, I booked return flights from here in England to Hamburg, Germany for £36 which is like $50ish dollars!

I think in England it's more common for people to have passports and go travelling at a young age, there are countless school trips to places like france/germany/spain thanks to learning languages as subjects. I managed to go on every music tour our school had and ended up going to various countries. Even moving around our own country is fairly easy and different cities are a few hours drive or train ride away. I'm currently studying in Leeds and am from London and it's really nice to be able to dabble in both creative scenes because I can go home to see a gig or go to an event when I need to!

It is also helpful to surround yourself with people who travel / have traveled and have that expanded perspective. Thanks for the video.

Loved your video. I can very much relate to what you're saying. I'm an Italian who grew up in the Dominican Republic and now lives in Vancouver, BC. It's crazy how life works, pursue what you're passionate about and JUST DO IT. That's how you achieve awesomeness :D

I live in the UK and in my social group travel is hugely encouraged! I've been to Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels & Berlin in the past year or so and a lot of my friends have been to similar places, like Prague or Stockholm. Flights are definitely cheaper, a return to Amsterdam cost me £80 on a budget airline. In terms of my photography it's been amazing, partly because I can go to these beautiful cities and capture things going on there, but actually the main impact has been on my photography at home. I realised that a lot of what I was shooting when I was out there was actually just day-to-day life in those places, and while it was interesting to me it wasn't particularly stand-out in those cities. So now back in the UK it's made me look harder at the places I live in and visit the most (living in Birmingham and visiting home in Wales) and see the things that are worth capturing here rather than feeling the need to jet off to exotic locations.

+Lawrence Watts WOW. That is amazing. I wish flights were cheaper here but I guess there is more land to cover. That is awesome. Sometimes the most challenging things to make art out of are the normal / mundane things of life!

#SaraDietschy. Great vid. I cannot agree more. I was born in Slovakia and my wife is Welsh. I have moved my home 22 times (cities and countries) and my wife moved 24 times. Our 6-year-old was actually born in the Canaries and our 3-year-old was born in the UK and at the end of August, we are moving once again (after 3 years in the UK) to Costa del Sol in Spain. Home can be built anywhere, you just have to be open to change and welcome the local life and people into your life - don't be scared to integrate and your life will be that much richer...

Hey Sara, I'm french and Casey Neistat made me aware of your work, and I really like what you do (especially the Creative Spaces videos and the travel vlogs). There is a saying in french that goes "les voyages forment la jeunesse" you can translate it this way "Travels broadens young minds". We have a lot of exchange programs in uni and a lot of people use those to travel, but we also use summer holidays (as they are quite long (aprox. 4 month when your in uni) to travel. European rail company put together a pass (interrail pass) that allows one to travel all around Europe for a month for around 300 $. So to answer your question YES we are encouraged to travel and discover new places by ourselves. I've been to Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, England, Ireland, Scotland. I grew up in the South-West of France and are currently living in Paris, but I know it's only a step, I'd like to live by the ocean or in the moutains. I think especially our generation is getting away from the idea that you have to spend your whole like in just one place. I know I don't want to.

Hi Sara, I'm from Penticton, BC, and have road trip traveled a lot to the States. That's actually how I started making movies. I wanted to do something where I could bring my parents and friends along for the journey! Even though the road trips are done (for now) I found the film making process to be a lot of fun, so have tried to keep it going!

Sara, I love how simple you made this! I have been thinking of where to move to and set a deadline for myself that I am moving on Monday, which gives me 5 days to pack!! After watching this video and your video with Chase Jarvis, I've decided to move back to Denver, CO and focus 100% on becoming my best self through socializing more and building my photography business while starting my KZread channel! Thanks!

I discovered your channel recently through my youtube homepage and I'm catching up with this series. I know it's a year old video, but I wanted to answer your questions anyway. I'm 22 and from Italy and I've never been in another country, my parents don't like to travel and are pretty happy where we are living now, but I dream to travel to other place and see other cultures. I'd love to travel to NY and Iceland. I also thought that in the US was more common to travel, here in Italy parents are really protective and in my case valuate a lot more instruction than "living". Great videos, keep up :)

Traveling is learning. It gives me new ways of seeing things. My goal is to travel to a different country at least once a year. I agree that traveling to neighbouring states or cities is also working.

Im an American living in Scotland (but also am preparing to move to India) and this video is so true. Whether its getting out of your country, state or city, just go and do it. You broaden your horizons and learn, but I for sure encourage folks to get out of the bubble of the US. Save up and go to that place you've always dreamed of going to. Experience different places and travel like a local, not a tourist. You may soon discover that we (i.e. the US/the West etc) may not always have it right, that other ways of living work to and contribute to human society in different, interesting ways. Pretty much, Go. Do. Travel. Experience. Repeat.

Sara, I'm new to your videos but have been binge watching them the past few days. I love your channels and have been thinking about starting my own blog to help me track my own design process and to help inspire people around me. I want to see more of your starting out videos so I can really take a look at where you started vs. where you are now. Wondering if you can point me in the right direction-- or if THIS is where you started. Thanks so much!

Hey there! So I'm originally from Germany, although I was partially raised in the states. That being said I totally agree with you on europeans being encouraged (and are sometimes granted more opportunities) to travel. Driving or taking a train from country to country here is almost akin to going state to state and I know that even though I've lived in both places, I've traveled Europe much more. I think because there is a longer history in Europe, people are more inclined to think about traveling there but some of my favorite trips have just been a little upstate or a state over. I'm hoping to explore a little more of the US this year - thanks for sparking a new years resolution. Love your travel videos and photography! Keep up the great work!

I'm from a small town in Sweden, and went to Gothenburg this summer with my girlfriend. I just LOVED Gothenburg, loved the atmosphere and feeling of the city. However, I haven't traveled much so I don't know if it's the best place to be. Also, living in Gothenburg is expensive af and it isn't the safest place in Sweden... So I'm sort of stuck lol. However, I might go to university there which would help me get a better feel of it.

I was born in a small town in Spain, I'm 20 and I'm still living there. I know for sure I won't when I finish my studies, probably I won't even be living in Spain. But what I feel is that people here tend to be afraid of traveling, moving to other countries. I've always known I wanted to explore other countries, live there and probably make one of them my home. And yes! Being european is awesome, you can travel to any country in the EU with just your ID card and flights or trains are not very expensive.

Im from London, England. I think the time I have felt the most like I found 'home' was when I was volunteering in Cape Town, South Africa and working in a school as a PE teacher for 3 months. But I think this feeling is dependant on the people you meet and community you become apart of. I find it kind of hard finding that kind of community feel in London. But I know it's there. How did you go about making these creative connections? That's what I really need to build up.

I watched your inspirational film and I have to say that it was very very beautiful, you have a great talent for filmmaking really. About finding a home, I have thought about this too, I'm currently in my first year of Uni in Texas and I hate it, because there really isn't other people that are into filmmaking and I'm undeclared, I've started to look for options on what to do, and I've decided to apply to film schools in London. I don't believe Film school is needed to succeed in filmmaking, but for me it's one of the only ways to get out of Texas and into a place where there is an industry and people interested in what I am, I've been to London many times and I've always felt like it's a place where I need to be. NYC and LA cost too much for film school and London is even less that most schools in the U.S, so I hope I get in! I subscribed and hope to see more of your films that you create! I am a filmmaker as well and would love to know your feelings on what I create Sara :)

i live in Dallas, and I've always felt like I was meant to live in Seattle even though I've never been there. I feel like what holds me back though is connections that I've made here in Dallas. I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not dropping everything and moving to a new place that I've never been, where I don't know anyone, is a good idea right now. Im in college so I would have to transfer. Theres just a lot of things in my mind that hold me back from what I feel like otherwise would be a great new step in my life. Would love to get coffee or lunch with you while you're in Dallas unless that is too invasive.....
