    Retired automatic transmission tech. These usually had Turbo hydramatic 350s in them the southwinds and the larger ones had TH400s. I built a gazillion of those things. Unbelieveable,I could not keep them built fast enough...Then the 700 R-4& 4L60E came along...Now my back needs rebuilt!!.

    Ya, $8500 for an RV in that condition is a pretty good price in BC. You could go cheaper but you run the risk of buying an RV that needs thousands in repairs. Glad you are enjoying your rig, it looks really nice!

Keeping all the seams up and tarping when not being used for long periods sure helps prolong a leak free, long lasting rv... looks great wife and are hunting for a 24f on vancover island and thinking we found our gem... has been a long hunt with all the trashy leaky no loved rigs we've been looking at so far... cheers

    I looked at well over 20 when I was hunting. I knew I was buying this before I got out of the car! She has barely been used this summer as I was occupied with a home reno. Out only twice so far and one trip to pick up hardwood flooring ;) I'll be going out for a couple of weeks in Sept, looking forward to it.

    @lupevelez2, hey, yes, its a wet bath even with the "lovely" wall paper :) I'd like to get rid of the little sink (but I'm sure I never will), it just gets in the way. Glad you like the m/h. I love it. I've had it one full year now, last summer was a learning experience, this year as been pure pleasure. I leave today for 2 full weeks of touring around the mtns of British Columbia. Cheers

    Hopefully you'll pass on alot before u buy, alot of these units are in really rough shape. Check every corner for water damage & check for soft ceilings. I saw alot of duds before I bought. I didn't specifically shop for one with a sofa or a back kitchen; but I love both of them now. The kit right at the door is awesome for bbq'g and the sofa saves me from having to sleep in the bunk and its a nice comfortable place to sit on rainy days AND it makes the m/h really comfortable for a crowd.

    Yeah the window are great. I also love the galley at the back, great for when you're BBQ'g etc. However, mines a bit awkward because the drawers are tiny and the only expanse of counter is right in front of the door which is also where the step well is! But thats ok, it all works fine for me. Cheers

    I personally think all RV's leak. I know that the roof is good because I've had to ceiling vents out and the wood that is visible is completely fresh. There is no sign of any form of water infiltration except in the front right hand corner of the bunk, the vinyl wall paper is rippled a bit. I would hardly think that a vehicle that is still going strong after almost 30 years is garbage; its almost the exact polar opposite of garbage ;)

  • @kjf63

    Hey man, the city of Vancouver has a parking restrictions on what they consider oversized vehicles; my RV falls into that category. However, if you don't park in front of a business or a house and there is no signage you are can park and you will not be ticketed unless someone complains. I rent a private stall close to my condo. Sewage goes into a "black water" tank and is then dumped at a dump station which can be found a variety of places - camp grounds, rest areas, gas stations, etc.

    The deadbolt on the exterior door is a good idea. Shower has the "hostel style" shampoo/conditioner dispenser. 1:116 Left hand side as a COOUCH (Hello Canada!) Basic questions: 1) MPG? 2) Water tank sizes (fresh 25? gray 15? black 15?) 2a) How much do you use during a shower? (5 -8?) 3) Appliance run on propane, batteries? 3a) How long do they last before generator needed? 4) Where did you buy it (States or Canada) Do chicks dig it?

    Chicago, not sure why but for some reason I thought you were local. My propane tank is built in, its a huge big cylinder under the m/h behind the passenger door, it goes all the way to the back wheels. It costs me about $50 to fill and gives me about 250 km.

    @kjf63 FYI: The toilet is NOT a bucket - please don't tell me you're using that to sponge off. I like the size, 20 feet, yet it feels very open since the galley and dining/living rooms are far apart. The upper bed looks useable but if the headroom is that low, you must bump yourself rolling over or stretching in the morning. And that fabric looks SO scratchy! I sleep on my couch at home a lot anyway so I don't think a camper couch would be much worse.

    Hey, no worries, I paid $8500. It has been extremely well looked after; its been 25 yrs in a garage and now its outside, I'm feeling guilt! There is no rooftop a/c, which is fine for me, that is several hundred pounds I don't need to carry. There is a box on the back, everything is wired for a gen but the previous owner kept the gen. So far I'm fine without it. What are you looking for?

    I'm not sure; RV are cheaper in US compared to Cda. Most people think it was a good price, most are surprised actually. I don't think I stole it from them but for that amount I've had countless awesome weekends, and a few month long road trips (another one coming up in a few weeks). I've spent money on things I didn't need to (new muffler sounds the same as the old one), then reg maint like oil changes and tune ups, and only one break down that cost $198. So its been very worth it to me :)

  • @kjf63

    @kjf63

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hey man, its a simple but complicated story; the vehicle runs on both propane and gas. I was in the mountains late one Sept, and started the rv to warm up before heading out - it wouldn't run, kept stalling etc. Got about 2 kms from the campground and it just died. Called BCAA, got a tow. The next day a mechanic spent a few hours trying to find the problem. At the end he sorta gave up, couldn't find anything. Fast forward a few years and I"m filling it with propane, a man walks by, talks about propane powered vehicles for a minute and how much he likes them - but his parting words gave me the answer to the break down "they are great vehicles, but NEVER warm them up on cold mornings, the propane will freeze!" - so that is what happened, the propane froze and that is why when we came down out of the mountains where it was warmer the mechanic could not replicate the problem, it cost $198 for the "diagnostic" and it is the only break down I've ever had :)
