I’m late to this party but we are 2 Canadians who were in Spain when the pandemic broke out and the Canadian government issued advice that we get ourselves home asap. We had booked flights through Expedia and my husband was on the phone for 3 hours plus (on hold) trying to get through to an agent to find us a flight home. Fortunately our daughter was able to help us out from Canada and got us on an Air Canada flight. Our travel insurance compensated us for all our costs. Granted those were unusual times but that said, it’s the last time we booked flights through Expedia.

In your last video Sarah you commented on the vesratility of merino wool. Well I am from Sydney Australia ( hot humid weather ) and I can confirm that I use merino even on over 80 degree days as merino wool is a temperature control fibre. Its light and also a sun protection fabric and the lighter the better. . I only wash merino by hand when I can smell strong odour which its not very ofter. I only buy silk, merino, linen and 100% cotton. No blends They are the best for travel and everyday use and an investment as they last for years if looked after correctly. I take the same travel clothes no matter what season as light weight layers are the key. Have a great holiday Sarah. I really enjoy your videos

Sarah, I happened on your site just this week. Thank you for these videos. They are very informative and helpful as we muddle our way thru our Canadian sites to venture out. We are senior couple who followed many of Rick Steves videos and got the courage to book our own “Cinderella trip” to France several years ago. We were immediately bitten by a serious travel bug but then got seriously stalled in 2020. Now we are peeking about , and hoping to see a return to Europe. Thank you for this info and sharing your search engines as we are not tech oriented but keep trying. This was very helpful.

Still like Qantas. Trying for ‘Sale’ prices saved us thousands flying to the UK this October. 🇦🇺 They are only sporadically available and go quickly. Fascinating content, Sarah.

Hi Sarah. I came across your video because I'm ready to get traveling again. Just wanted to let you know, Kayak has an "explore" option. You just click on those 3 lines on the left and the explore option shows up! Thanks for the tips!

Very helpful video, Sarah. Thanks!! Question. When you fly for fun, do you purchase trip insurance? If you do, that would be an interesting video.

Personally I don't because I'm an EU citizen and can seek treatment if I am ill. I would absolutely recommend it for everyone, I will do a video on that. Thanks for the suggestion

Why are flights through Heathrow dicey now? I’m headed to Edinburgh via LHR in September so whatever it is will hopefully be resolved, but just curious why you said that.

I wondered why that remark was made about London as well. We are traveling there next month and saw no reason why not to take the route we chose over a few other options. Sarah - why do you think traveling through London is dicey?

I used third party, first time, last year. Never again. I bought refundable, as most tickets were then, far in advance. Airline changed flights twice but I did not know about first change. On seeing ridiculous new flights I went to cancel. 3rd party said I could not cancel since I changed flights, no I didn't, you did. Same thing they say. Went to airline, same thing. I was on hold at various times for a total of 8 hours. I could not find where it said one could not get refund if they changed flights, and I believed this was a "bait and switch". I mentioned I was in WA and and our AG office was rather litigious. (Thank you AG Ferguson and staff). I got back most of my money, and ended up with great flights from DELTA. It took months and luckily I could afford replacement flights before money was refunded. I wonder how many others had same issue during COVID. (PS, I went to Venice, "quarantine" was originally a Venetian term, they really had safety down!)

Read on the website. When I return to the US, I go to a very short line and am out the door very quickly. Last time when i returned from Israel it took me 20 seconds to get back in. I've used it for 6 yrs.

Hi Sarah. I know this was 4 hours ago. But my question to you is about the seating types. You said you are tall and preferred the economy plus? I think it was called? I’m 5’8 but I need to stretch my legs out. My aunt is also traveling with me. And is similar height. Would you suggest that same seating. We’re going to Greece 🇬🇷 next year. I have never flown internationally.

Yes, consider Comfort Plus, and at the very least request Exit rows or bulkhead.

Global Entry YES even if you only fly international once in your life, or you are in line behind every color passport in the world, even the Asian/Visa guy who gets in the wrong line. Fly into CDG watch EU passport holder buzz thru immigration because the French have 7 EU stations open and one agent station for all other passengers. Seattle has no USA passport only line and with the tech industry with every green card holder in the world working in Seattle it’s a real long line.
