    Don't feel too bad. They're not even really intended for the fantastically rich (there's not enough of them). Instead those places primarily cater to $500k+ salaried business executives who can write their travel costs off on their taxes at the end of the year. $2,000 a night hotel rooms make for an awful lot of tax write offs. Some of those dudes pay $0 in tax.

    I've stayed at 3-5 star hotels on lots of business trips and it starts to get stale. While the rooms and food are high quality it becomes unmemorable without variety.
