Looks like a great place to fish. I agree that bleeding every salmon immediately is essential to getting the best from the catch. Gill plates converge on the roof of the mouth and every blood vessel converges there. One cut to sever the vessels where the gill plates converge is the best way to bleed a salmon. I wish I could show big Dave how it is done. I know he would appreciate the technique.

Ahhh.. The Trask. Fished the 2 bit and 4 bit hole in tidewater many years ago. Hooked an at least a 35 lb er that I fought for 25 minutes. Got it near the bank where it turned on its side about a foot under water and the hook came flying out.

Don't bother asking, it's best to learn how to read and learn the river yourself. A lot of fisherman including myself don't like telling people where they fish

+stevie nothin its no secret. alot of us locals and many non-locals fish it, its the second to the last hole before the take out so to row down in the dark you miss alot of good holes. locally its known as Sanchez's. used to be a drive in hole but some jerk who moved into the house next to the access road is trying to run everybody off by roping the entrance and hanging no trespassing signs. when people do that i don't mind spilling the beans on its location.

I used to think that. It’s not as true as you think. In Alaska in kenai I learned the reds which average 5-8 lbs will break line up to 25lb test. I no longer use light line. That being said my largest king salmon was on Wilson river and was over 55# and was on 8 lb Pline. My buddy waded in downstream to keep is spooked in the hole or it would have ran right back to the ocean.

Why are you using such gigantic equipment for a medium size river. A 3 ounce float? We catch fish up to 25+ pounds on much lighter rigs.

30 lb leader????? Wow, you might as well hook that up to a winch in the front of someones jeep and reel it in that way ! I will stick to my 9 foot noodle rod with 8 lb line and leader. Way more fun, and way more tiring and rewarding in the end !
