    Hey Tim, you gotta love this guy. Like you he traps, hunts and fishes for his own food. In the wild north he's 50 miles from any store. In the winter every animal he traps he proccesses the hide and shares the prime cuts with his dog. Then uses the rest for bait. In the summer he fishes and hunts beaver, grouse, rabbits and squirrel with a 22. Never complains about the weather or going hungry, he just goes out and gets fresh meat for dinner and makes jerky out of the left overd for his trail food. No welfare in his neck of the woods and folks would laugh at him if he expected the government to feed him. Why would he need to? He gets what he needs in a hour after he starts looking for it. A life style you and I can appreciate. Charlie: kzread.info/head/PLDA6F24FD76B6A488

    Good information Tim! This type of trapping is really important to learn about since it takes little gas, time, and energy compared to traveling off to public land, lakes or rivers. During food shortages, there most likely will be gas shortage as well and conserving resources and energy will be a high priority. I often trap on land and water that takes me at least 20 minutes to get to. Not ideal in a grid down situation.

    If one quarter of the population started trapping for food there would be no critters in 6 months. Sustainable meat supplies are grown by corporate farmers. Pigs,chickens,beef and seafood, same with vegetables. Why do we have limits on the amount of game and fish we can catch now?

  • @Meattrapper

    @Meattrapper

    6 жыл бұрын

    Sustainable meat farming uses enormous amounts of land, produces inferior products and deprives wild game of habitat. Grain based society results in extremely large populations of unhealthy people and an unsustainable system. To infer that since everyone cannot do something, then on one should do it is absurd. Our current system is setting people up for a tremendous die off. The planets population keeps growing, and one day even factory farmed meats and corporate agriculture will be unable to meet the demand.

  • @quercus417

    @quercus417

    6 жыл бұрын

    I did not infer that no one should. I very much believe in conservation and animal control. The overpopulation die off you refer to is inevitable. Vegetarians seem to do fine, there are billions of them. I was simply stating a fact if a large majority of people started trapping there would be no wildlife in a few months.

    You're in the ghetto, what do you think a cop or game warden would do if he saw somebody that was hungry in the woods with a trap and did not have a license? Now add the price of the traps. Don't forget you're in the inner city So you have to multiply the number of people that are hungry. Now with a large number of people out trapping those beaver how long do you really think that food source would last kind of like the passenger pigeon. I'm not against trapping

    I'm not against trapping, or trapping in the city. I've trapped squirrels and groundhogs, and found a beaver pond, but I think there was only one, so I left him alone., but I have two comments. Firstly, in the city, especially around factories, you could be eating very polluted meat. I hope you made sure it was a clean water source. Second, you could very easily kill or seriously injure someone's dog or even a local cat. It's happened around here a couple of times, because of some dumb ass. Laying traps near trails is a really stupid idea, and great care should be taken to avoid this. I'd just like to see you mentioning some of this, because a lot of people aren't that bright. Anyway, have fun and enjoy dinner.

    The problem is it is probably all private property. Even what might seem abandoned is probably owned by someone, and therefore you are trespassing. And if it is public property, there is probably a city or county ordinance that makes what you are doing illegal! I am not criticizing what you are doing. I think it is great, but anyone doing this should beware!

    "I can trap beaver in a city, therefore the thousands of people who can't afford to buy their own food should be able too." Dude, you clearly lack an understanding of what those people are going through. Just because you can trap in a "city" area (I'd be more impressed if you were catching animals in an alleyway) doesn't mean others have that skill, desire, or time. Plus, i doubt there's enough animals to support the thousands of people who need food; the whole city would be trapped out in a short period of time.

  • @Meattrapper

    @Meattrapper

    Sorry, it is YOU who has no idea what they are talking about. There was a time in my life where I was unemployed, homeless and living in my car. I know EXACTLY what they face. And how to pull yourself out of it. It takes DESIRE, which, as you pointed out, most do not have.

  • @oldmindyoungbody3068

    @oldmindyoungbody3068

    6 жыл бұрын

    That still doesn't address anything else that I mentioned. Urban areas have significantly low animal populations, if every person on food stamps was trapping those small, wooded area near cities there wouldn't be nay animals there within a week. And then what? By desire, I meant the desire to trap animals, not a lack of desire to better their situation. Most people who need food stamps would rather not, but thanks to the way our system is they often don't have the opportunity or capability to "move up."

  • @Meattrapper

    @Meattrapper

    The simple fact is that not everybody will trap animals - but there are many who could, and the animal populations could easily sustain it. Populations such as squirrels can sustain a harvest rate of 90% without adverse effect. These people could also supplement their food by growing a small garden, even a container garden on a concrete patio or balcony. Funny how people all over the world do this, yet Americans have to rely on a handout for their monthly quota of skittles. The simple fact of the matter is that there is much that people could do to increase their self sufficiency and reduce reduce their need to mooch off others. Of course, it's easier to make excuses and resort to the strawman argument of "Since everybody can't trap beavers - then you shouldn't criticize welfare mooches for not doing anything to better themselves". Give me a break and try to practice a little intellectual honesty. The salient point of the video is that there is a LOT of unharvested food that people could utilize if they'd get off their lazy, stupid asses and go get it!
