    Got a question, I have lived in Indiana 45 years and fish under bridges on highways and back roads. Can I trap like that the same way with a trapping license? DNR has no issues with fishing like this even with night lines and limb lines...Would trapping be different?

    Road trapping in Indiana is not legal. The way I understand it, property tax is paid to the middle of the road.

    Do you use the catch pole to dispatch the bobcat? Why not use a 22 ?

    less blood and mess. Bobcats are the only animal I would recommend with this method.

    How does one work a full time job and run a trap line at the same time? I’ve never ran traps because I’ve been told that it takes a lot of time and work. Is it worth the time?

    I will address this one on the next show. Some trappers only trap on Thanksgiving, Christmas breaks or take vacation time. Some trap while working if their schedule will allow for it. It is only worth it if you enjoy it.

    I only trap about 2 weeks. During Christmas time I get 1 week off and I try to save some vacation days to add to it! I think it is worth the time but I don’t sell my fur yet I’ve just started but it is so much fun to check the traps every morning! I hope you give it a try it is a lot of fun and you learn a lot about the animals in your area!

    I have been thinking about adding shock springs to my cable restraints. Just 3 days ago I got a really nice, I mean big, bobcat in a cable restraint. When I walked up to it, it took 2 jumps straight into the air. On the second jump it pulled my wolf fang w/ 15" cable right out of the ground. Anchored in hard packed sand. I just stood there in disbelief. I my have cried a little also, lol. So now I'm changing the 15" cable out for a 20" cable. I do need to talk to a Wisconsin DNR Warden to make sure the cable restraint would still be legal with a shock spring added. What are your thoughts about adding a shock spring?

  • @HoosierTrapperSupply

    @HoosierTrapperSupply

    Not sure how that would effect your cable restraint and like you said may not be legal. You might consider double staking. Also, I always pre-set the stake to make sure it is holding. I've had animals pull out of footholds when I'm walking up, I think we were both in disbelief - Lol (a shock spring would definitely help in that situation)

    I was wondering how to maximize profits on fur with it being so low. I've always sent to the big fur auction but thinking about tanning and selling as wall hangers. Wondering if it would be worth it and how would you do it as either professional done or tanning as home with 1 of the kits available? As usual keep up the awesome videos with excellent information.
