The reason kendricks lyrics on Backseat Freestyle are so outrageous is because its supposed to be 16-17 year old him freestyling with his homies in the back of a car

Catching that Nas bar 🫡. This song is like a 3 part series btw. You’re not glazing, he’s has perfect word placement in his writing, it’s actually insane.🤯

@@Flamerunner451 well, you have to consider everyone’s hiphop journey starts in different places. Some lyrics that may be obvious to you and I, could mean nothing to someone born in a different time🤷🏿‍♂️

If you're listening to any more of his albums, pay attention to his voices, they're all to convey his emotions, trust me you'll see the pattern. Plus skits and transitions contain very important info pertaining to what the album is actually about. Treat those like like mission details. 💯

The whole album is him telling a story about situations from his childhood at that age. This is what hip-hop used to be about telling stories about your life.b

Some things to help with digesting the album (but first you don’t need to keep saying you aren’t a glazer, it’s fine bro, don’t let the internet keyboard warriors get to you). 1)it’s titled as a short film by Kendrick Lamar, the Compton track is basically “roll credits” which is why it’s so uplifting 2) you combine all of these songs and it’s just one day in the life of Compton, at the end of Compton he tells his mom he’s taking the van and he’ll be back, starting the album/day over again 3) sing about me, I’m dying of thirst is widely agreed as Kendrick’s best song ever. First verse he’s rapping from his friend’s perspective who does end up dying before the album released, hence the gunshots ending that verse. Second verse is from the sister of Keisha (section 80, his previous album, has a song about her) and she says she’ll never fade away as her verse fades out, then third verse is Kendrick himself. This album is just a masterpiece and it’s insane how it’s only considered his second best album
