I live in England and had a Transylvanian Hound for 10 years as one of two rescues from Greece. They were found together and stayed together all their lives. I was told they were both about 3 years old when I got them. A wonderful pair of dogs, the TH in particular. He looked so beautiful running across fields in the sunshine, his coat gleamed. I walked them twice a day for at least an hour each time. Mind you he could be naughty! About once a monthe he would run off on his own, or with the other one, for a couple of hours. We lived in a village then surrounded by countryside and who knew where he was. But no complaints were ever lodged and all the locals knew them and used to chuckle as they knew he was misbehaving. He always came home in good spirits and was pleased to see us again. His temprament was wonderful, and was popular with both other humans and dogs with a wide circle of admirers. He had bladder stones in later life and had to go on a special diet. But, as you can porbably tell, I loved him dearly, both of them and he died of old age in my arms, the other dog going soon after. I miss him, them every day.

These pictures Looks just like my dog. We were told our dog Mack. Was a Rottweiler/Lab mix. Vet told us he may have Hound in him to. Excellent dogs. Family and great service dogs. Guard dogs. Loving companions.

I first saw one at a vet clinic in my home town of Walnut Creek, California. They’re not as beefy as a Rottweiler, but have a little more muscle meat on them than a Doberman Pincher. Beautiful animal either way.

I have one too and I thought the same, the only doubt I have now is if it’s full breed, because mines doesn’t have as big as ears as the ones in video

I rescued my Franki from Koycegiz shelter in Turkey .. we are convinced he is a Transylvanian hound .. he is incredibly handsome and looks exactly like one.. he is a big boy and an exceptional example of one. We feel incredibly lucky to have rescued such a gorgeous rare breed ❤️ he is incredibly affectionate .. very intelligent .. we are a bit apprehensive about letting him off the lead. Have had him over a year now but concerned about him bolting off too far when he sees something he wants to chase.. I took a leap of faith today and let him off a few times. He went way out of sight at one point to the point where I started to panic but I kept calling... And eventually he found his way back to me!!

Yes, mine did that too. He went off for hours about once a month but always came back in good spirits. It's a worry when they disappear but how can you keep such a dog on a lead? Otherwise he was very friendly to other dogs (and people, and he was well loved in the village I lived in then) and used to love to meet them every day. In fact, I think he was the pack leader even though he was rarely aggressive, only when he needed to be.

Hello. I'm from Russia. We have a Transylvanian hound. Our dog's name is Bars. The breed is unique, beautiful, graceful, friendly. The dog likes to run and follow the trail, look for people, guards the house and territory. Instantly reacts to the signal of the hunting horn.

Hi! My boy Wolfgang was born in 2015. I bought him and have had him healthy and happy since then. I love everything about this breed. High energy, intelligent, sensitive, and loyal. I'm glad to have found this video. I'm trying to find a way to preserve Wolfie's genes and have more puppies one day! I've had insanely cool experiences with him...he literally saved me from a burning garage in 2016...

So brave! My Transylvanian Hound was a calm, intelligent and friendly dog to all except when 4 very agressive dogs came towards us on leads dragging their owner along. Then he stepped in front of me and just growled, enough to make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. He did not attack but told them how it would be if they wanted a fight. After a moment the four aggressive dogs lay down and squirmed past us. Transylvaian Hounds are all that you say and are as brave as lions and you should enjoy your Wolfie as much as you can!

My dog, who came to us as a rescued dog from Cairns, Australia registered as an Australian Kelpie looks almost identical to this dog, is much taller than a kelpie and weighs 35 kg.. He is a very gentle boy and a great companion who loves long walks. I have never seem him aggressive to other dogs, humans or other creatures and if attacked by other dogs does not fight back.

I've gotta border collie x choc lab momma that was bred by a hound that was the spitting image of a transylvanian hound. Kept a pup for myself. She looks like an American leopard hound.

I rescued Apollo from the street in Bulgaria. He is an amazing companion always sticks by me, until he finds some game on our walks in the mountains and then he is off barking with that high pitch shrill bark. But he always comes back, always finds me. Wonderful wonderful temperament, very friendly with people and with most other dogs. Even gets on well with cats unless they run then he will chase them 😄 You forgot to mention the white spots on the belly and sometimes the nose but otherwise a great breakdown 👍

@@alexg.420 “Fun” fact: in 1947 romanians ordered to kill all hungarian native dog breed. (transylvanian hound too). They almost got extinct because of them so please dont call it romanian dogbreed ever! Thank you.

Ignorance by condo and apartment always mislabeled the breed as a Doberman even the shelter I got Hana from was ignorance to her as breed a big difference between Doberman and Transylvania Hound and Coon Hound and when they are mislabeled as a Doberman they and the owner are banned from housing when the dog was not on the banned list and not a Doberman. It's ignorance and a life sentence for Transylvania and Coon Hound when they are mislabeled as a breed that they aren't. Doesn't help when you tell the vet to put correct breed on her paper work because she is not a Doberman, or my friends Ridge Back Hound that's not a Pitt , because it's prejudice and misleading. I love my Hana and she is a beautiful loving rescue.

Is not that rare...in Romania is usually a working dog not a pet. Surprisingly the Slovenian hound or the Austrian hound looks exactly the same :-)

Do they have a stinky smell?

No not at all. They aren’t quite as houndy smelling as a basset hound, for example.

I got Missy after my Blue heller died.We live next to Clarks hill lake in Ga.She is very smart she knows our32acres better than I do she will stay gone for two hours at time.She loves my six years old grandson and my Son's dog she stays with them some nights but comes back home.They never run enough she has been clocked at twenty miles a hour.

Not migration of the Huns but of Hungarians.... U R welcome
