Transwa Australind Train Perth to Bunbury Review

I'm back in Western Australia!! In August I reviewed Transwa's flag train service: Prospector from East Perth to Kalgoorlie, I planned to travel on the Australind back then, but the service was replaced by bus for a few weeks due to train maintenance. Today the service is running again, so I flew back to WA a few days ago just to travel on this Australind train. So! What does it look like?

Because unless you want to rely on taxi services who charge $14 before you even get in don’t show up for booking and the very little amount of Uber drivers down south for transport, it’s a lot easier and cheaper to use your own car. It’s not like the city where you can just walk to things you want to see. Most things aren’t even in the towns like Bunbury, Busselton or Margaret river

I couldn't help but notice the apparent contradiction between the announcement at 10.27 mentioning social distancing and apologising to people that they may have somebody sitting next to them as they have 'quite a few people getting on' and car 3 not being in use due to low patronage! The train looks very nice and the legroom also looks good.

This service actually looks like a pretty good way to travel between Perth and Bunbury! I really like the recline feature in the seats a lot. I'm positive I've had one of those Four'n'Twenty pies before, I didn't like too much from what I can remember. That chicken roll also looks good. Looks like an good train service and I would love to do it when WA opens up to the east coast! Great video Rory!

Another great vid. I liked your description of Optus Stadium and its station. Also, interesting that the Four N' Twenty they served was a Chunky Angus rather than their classic pie... probably because the Chunky Angus is similar to Mrs Macs Famous, and they're trying to preserve some kind of uniformness.

Another great video Rory. My wife and I took a flight from Sydney to Tokyo on Monday the 8th Nov JAL - JL 52. The JAL 787 Dreamliner can accommodate 186 passengers. There were a total of 11 passengers on board. Three in Business and 7 in Economy. Needless to say the service was exceptional. Japan isn't currently accepting tourists so hence the low number. By the way I think you're spot on about the Mrs. macs pies vs Four n Twenty. happy travels.

Arrived into Bunbury one evening but all hostels were full - there was an international youth athletics event or something - so my mate and I waited up overnight at the old station, now bus terminal, for the first bus in the morning to Busselton!

I love this! It was interesting looking at Perth Station (Love how Platform 3 is in like it's own separate room from the other platforms) and it was also Interesting to see the Train. Doesn't look too over-the-top but get's the Job Done. Just a few other things: 1. Are you going to do a review when the New Trains arrive? (I presume you will. Just Checking, Though. 2. Are you going to make a Discord Server? I know you're probably not but it's a great way to chat with fans of the your Videos and do alot of other fun things. I must say this has to be one of the most on time regional services in Australia, for comparison QR trains such as the Spirit of the Outback (which you’ve reviewed), Westlander (which you’ve also reviewed) and the Inlander (you reviewed that one too) are often late due to prioritisation for freight trains, as well as aging rollingstock

Locking a car out of use due to low passenger numbers but then the lady said she quite a few would be getting on at Armadale and you might end up sitting next to someone.Locking cars out of use seems to be a good way to spread coronavirus! Although it saves a bit of wear and tear on the carriage the things coming anyhow so it might as well be open.

Is there an explanation as to why the series A and B sound so similar to Queensland Rail's trains?

Hey Rory,The Australind does not really look like the XPT train but it looks like the Xplorer that runs between Sydney,Broken Hill,Armidale,Moree and Canberra The Australind windows however looks like the Xplorer and XPT But the front looks like the xplorer the seats also looks so similar with the XPT and Xplorer

Yes but the Australind was built before the Xplorer and the xplorers weren’t built by comeng. The layout though I have to say is very similar to xplorer. (I’m only comparing the carriages)

Those Hot Chicken Rolls are REALLY GOOD. If you buy a Coles Macaroni and Cheese Frozen meal along with one of those rolls, it's a really nice meal and fills me up
