She's pretty pumped about it. On the first day of our trip (with the new bed) she kept asking how many minutes until she could sleep on it. Made me pretty happy!

Nice build, I like the way you're keeping the build as light as possible. A lot of the conversions you see by "Van Lifers" on here panel the van out like its a Swiss Alpine ski lodge which must kill mpg. Nice you got the seat from Europe as well, good safety touch.

As a Brit I find it very amusing for you to say (for example) "measure 20mm down and drill a 2 inch hole". I'm not being critical because we have the same problem - we sell fuel in litres (liters) but talk about miles per gallon. Supermarkets here have to sell cans of beer in millilitres, but go to a pub and you are sold pints. However, the reason for posting is to compliment you on your eye for detail and exactitude, and to say how compelling your videos are. Keep up the good work!

David McClean as a Canadian I flinched too when he said "7mm plus an inch". Funny how we incorporate both Imperial and Metric. I'm 5'8" tall, (not 170 or something cm) but I drive on the highway at 100 km/h lol

Ha, so the instructions for the Austrian latches (not the plastic ones but the ones I used previously) specified the offset in mm, and yet I was working with a 2" hole size. That said, it's common for me to use whatever is convenient at the time. I have a nice scale that is easier to make accurate measurements when working in mm vs the inch scale. But my bad, haha!

I'm a lucky man, she's thrilled beyond belief about her new bed!

I was unaware of 80/20 until I started watching your van build. I happened to be at Washington DC Smithsonian Air and Space museum a few weeks back and on display is... if you remember "Stanley" The car built by Stanford University for the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge? It is a Blue VW Touareg (Red Bull Sponsor Logo's) autonomous car that won 2 million dollars for self driving using a drive-by-wire, GPS Self-learning system. The entire roof rack truss supporting sensors and lasers is made from 80/20! Ken...Any future plans for an autonomous Sprinter feature -LOL

You should check out some videos on Tesla's gigafactory in Nevada. It looks like the entire assembly line is made from 80/20. Doesn't surprise me at all given Elon's ingenuity. I think he's a closet 80/20 fan.

I noticed the 14 GA wire on your store in not the "tinned" like your 16GA. Why? If I click off your link to other wire options..say the tinned version...do you still receive credit?

@@donjones3355 I thought all of the Ancor wire was tinned, but you're right, the product description does not specifically say so. So I guess without further research I'm not exactly sure either. I appreciate use of the links but always encourage people to get whatever meets their needs the best. Thanks again!

5:19 - See the round thingie fasteners to left of your hand in this shot? They need to have a hole drilled partially on the T-slot so they fit flush, right? 6:22 - That's some high tech durability test you got there! Takes a lot of skill to do that! 8:25 - That was useful information about the 1" vs 1.5" T-slot. I was wondering myself if the slimmer version was not better. I think Dave did his van in 1.5" T-slot throughout. 8:52 - Not sure why you did not use screw in doughnut type of magnets for the wood panels instead of glue on blocks? Wood too thin? Not strong enough? It would have been a lower profile. 17:02 - I did not catch the name of the wood covering material, the dark grey rubber dot covering. Not listed in list either. Fantastic job, as always. You define a quality build and are a good teacher, many thanks!!

The round fasteners are called anchor fasteners and they do require a specific bore in the profile. It's not too difficult to do. As for the magnets, the wood simply isn't thick enough to hold any type of fastener that I could find. I'm sure there are better options but the option I could complete right then and there was the best at the time. The material is called coin cell, and there's a video on that process coming soon. Nice job like every times but how is it possible to mix millimeters and inches? is it not source of mistakes? Thanks for your videos from France.

My mistake... I use both systems as the accurate scale I use has both inches and millimeters. Sometimes it's just easier for me to use vs the other.

Lately it's been travel videos, but in those I always include van stuff, such as things we like, don't like, how we use the van, etc. We also are adding various things to the van, so more videos coming! Why are the rear drawers narrower than the front kitchen galley drawers?

I have a sliding seat that moves all the way back and the shallower depth allows easier access to the cabinets and the rear of the van.
