Transpose from GDAE to CGDA by Tenor Guitar Time with Todd GDAE

This week's video is about how to use the Circle of 5ths chart to transpose chords from GDAE to CGDA in 2 ways;
1- use the same GDAE chord shapes on a CGDA tenor and know what chords they are.
2- how to transpose GDAE chords to the same chord (sound) on CGDA.
Both of these just require 1 step on the circle of 5ths chart. I will try to explain it!…

    Hi there, I just bought an Eastwood Classic Tenor guitar and was wondering what strings do you usually use for it? Not sure I can find many "electric" tenor guitar sets out there...thanks!

    Hi Bruno, I buy guitar sets that have the 4 gauges that I want. Once I get the gauges dialed in for the instrument, then I buy 10 packs of those individual strings. I have yet found a tenor set that works for me.A common recommendation is to use 42, 32, 18, and 12, but I usually go lighter 42, 30, 15, 10. It depends on how hard you like to strum and the set up of your instrument.

    @@tenorguitartime thank you for your insight on this. I just bought an Eastwood TG-150 so guess I'll play around with gauges. Also I guess it depends a lot on tuning? Do you get tablature for the tenor guitar or just from other instruments and transcribe them? Not much material out there for this instrument... :(

    Yes, you are right, it's hard to find tenor guitar books out there. (I am working on a GDAE tenor guitar book for Mel Bay right now-in the final editing process). If you use GDAE, mandolin books are your best bet. If you prefer Chicago tuning, I think there is only one book available. Sometimes I translate guitar music over for the tenor tunings.
