I’m playing a large map with high cities and low industries and my most profitable line is an air cargo line carrying rocks from one end of the map to a brick factory on the other end and returns with grain for a food factory.

cool test. of course the downsides can be minimized by moving the airports away only a little bit and trucking or railroading the people/goods into the town centers (which is exactly how the designers expected i guess)

Neat test and video. Possibly if the airfield was oriented differently in the city, so that the approach and departures aren't quite directly over the city. But it would probably still be costing a lot of noise - unless you didn't upgrade to the bigger planes. What this actually makes me think of is Alaska - they actually do use small cargo aircraft for day to day deliveries b/c there literally are no roads to many towns and villages. so something like this actually is realistic, though the environment it takes place in is very different. and the airports would be much smaller.

5:47 well the entrance of Schiphol Airport is closer to Hoofddorp than Amsterdam.

@ 6:00, did you forget about "vliegbasis twente"? former military base and now used for GA (I believe it is used for GA)

As noted, you can make more money then trains and trucks based on speed/distance with the medium/large planes. If you cheese the game, there a simple plot hole in there money system that you get paid for delivery of resources regardless of being processed and sent onto an end spot. All you need is a resource and a processing plant that's it, no city demand needed. The item wont get turned into it's processed form without the city demand but the resource will still be demanded. Have a resource and an associated processing plant attached to each airport you get paid 100% both ways. Works the same for trucks and trains too.

Good video test and thanks for sharing. If like you said you used vehicles it would balance the income versus losing the residents.

It works.... You just need to demolish all the residential housing at the end of the runway.

Yeah the residents really have it rough. Option A: get your house demolished Option B: keep your house and jets flying a few meters over your roof at all hours

@@Stealth17Gaming They dealt with it in Hong Kong, there's also that airport in the middle of Amsterdam (and besides that time a plane crashed into an apartment building) people deal with it okay. The game acts like noise pollution kills people.

@@MrMattumbo The airport is not in the middle of Amsterdam at all. I've been to Schiphol plenty of times. Amsterdam is still a good 20-30 minutes away.

@@Stealth17Gaming Okay well not in the middle, I was being a bit overly simplistic with my language, but it is surrounded on all sides by a dense urban area full of residential zones. As are most airports, Schiphol is just one of the more prominent examples.

@@MrMattumbo It's actually surrounded by fields and villages, I used to live in one. Heathrow in London is surrounded by more residential. That is why they can't expand it.

You might’ve checked this beforehand, but Enschede _used_ to have an airport up until 2008.

Add extra runways and terminals to sort the congestion.

Hello from Chile.., in your offical map in one town, you did a tunnel to avoid the emmisions, can you tried to do the entire network in tunnel (train station, tram station, truck delivery) underground ? if you put a bus station undergound did cover the city? the emission down to cero?... intriging.. (sorry english is not mi primary lenguage)
