Transport Fever 2: A beautiful game - Ep. 1: Farms!

Come along as I explore the new paint brushes and terrain tools in Transport Fever 2. This is a map I've already put several hours into, but I have not done any "beautifying" of it yet.
This will be a series with multiple episodes, as I try to make the map as realistic and beautiful as I can.
Note that the game is not released yet, so there is not many mods and assets out there. So in the beginning we're mostly stuck with the assets that come with the game.

@@fredbreaks9680 Looking forward to more. How long does each one take you to do in real time?. I am resisting the urge to start a new map as its 11pm here and if I get started I will be still going at 5 am lol!

@@starbyray7828 Thank you! It can take everything from 3-4 hours to several nights. Sometimes things just go with the flow, and sometimes it takes a lot of trial, error and experimenting. Haha, I know exactly what you mean. Personally I'm more creative during the night, which is bad for my sleeping schedule! :)

Cities skylines developers need to do something because I can see this game grabbing away some of the CS enthusiasts, myself included because with the sort of tools modders will bring will be absolutely amazing.

Depends if the modding framework is robust enough to support modder made tools. Most of what I've seen so far has just been tweaks really.

@@FlintBleopard I think they are. Considering their launch trailer specifically included modding as a key focus which means they want to let the other half of this game grow through mods, much like Cities Skylines and Euro truck 2 did. But all in all I hope the modding framework is robust enough to get modders to play around with different ideas.

@@plaxci I hope it'll be robust enough to support the creativity of the modding community. Modding would certainly be what would keep this game more interesting in the long term I think. I completed the campaign within a week and feel like I'm already running out of motivation to keep playing. Free play feels like it's missing out on stuff that could keep the player more engaged.

@@FlintBleopard Yes I agree. I think they've built a very solid and amazing foundation and got the basics right. The story won't be much of a sell in the long-term as it won't be for many people. I think they made the right choice by opening this up to more freedom of choice. The amount of modding ideas I can think of are absolutely out of this world, considering what the game achieves with basics. Cities skylines has issues with the more newer mods or more demanding assets and mods. However, I feel like this game could offer a more improved experience with that and I think that might just eat massively into the CS enthusiasts.

@@FlintBleopard This is exactly what CS2 needs to implement. Always dreamed about a mod like this and just found this video. It's just it. paint with different textures and more accurate terrain tools (including straight slopes). Man, CS2 with this would be amazing!!

If you take into consideration that a lot of people who play TF games (1 & 2) will, in all probability, have a lot of mods in their games to suit their playing style along with what they want to do and build, in the way of layouts and add to that custom made maps, then this game is a Godsend to them. They can plan, build, and then run their own layouts to their hearts content, instead of spending a fortune on a miniature railway line in their attics and basements etc. Scenery, like this, is all part of it, and adds to the overall look of the game. It's the same in CS too. Better this type of layout than a bland lifeless, and "barren/sparse" open land to look at. When you have the infrastructure in place, as shown by these videos from Fredbreaks, then it makes it all the better, because the scenery makes it work and brings the game to life. Add to that the graphics, in-game, are vastly improved, then layouts like this look great from what ever distance you look at them, and details don't suddenly appear/disappear, assuming that your GPU has the capability of running games like this on high end settings.
