So easy to fool people who don't know better. Horse eyes process color differently from human eyes and bright yellow and some other colors especially in stripes spook them and are are processed as an obstacle to move around instead of a flat surface to be walked over. Even the Metropolitan Police in London discovered this and had to have special training for their mounted branches horses to accustom them to walk over brightly colored street crossings and colorful road murals etc. Nice try though but horses don't share human bigotry 😅😅😅😅😅

It's not difficult to understand. I've seen the same thing happen with dogs. It has to do with the way they are visually processing the surface they are observing. As humans, we process a painted surface on a solid roadway, safe to stand or walk on. For the horse, however they are processing the visual, they have determined that it may present a hazard. An example that you may have experienced would be a common drawing that has two possibilities to the observer. I may look at it and see a woman's face. Then I'm told it's an old lady's face. But that's not what I see. I'm seeing a younger woman. I continue to look and still can't recognize the old lady's face. Then finally, I see the face. The old lady's face. Same exact picture, but two different possibilities. It's dependent on how the observer is processing the information internally. So, for the horses, however they are processing their observation, they are not sure that the surface is safe to stand or walk on.

While all horses have the ability to jump, barring a physical limitation, they are not all equally as talented at the skill. Additionally, horses only have blue and yellow cones, and will only distinguish colors in those shades or combination of shades. Therefore, they are not able to distinguish the full rainbow color. So the rainbow pride marking that spooked the horse, really wasn't the rainbow pride marking as it contains shades of gray and zero red or combination of red shades. Of course the horse may also have not jumped due to pavement being a bad surface for the horse to jump on due to increased risk of injury, and we don't actually know if the rider gave a command to the horse. We only got one take on a person's observation. Again, socialization can play a factor. If the horse is not familiar with something, initially, like most animals, it will be timid or hesitant, also a survival instinct, just as jumping can be.

Hahaha I love it! I actually worked at a horse racing track for a year. The horses do get spooked by just anything that seems a little out of place. You could take a horse around the track, with some workers around doing their garden work or what have you, and it will be fine enough. If however one of the workers left a shovel or rake or even a hat near or on the track, the horse would give it a good look and hesitate and move away from it like as if it's scared. They always seemed so jittery. But by the way some of the racing crews treated the horses I'm sure that made it even worse.
