Transparent Taco

Ok this very nearly wasn't a video, it turns out making a transparent taco / clear taco is complete hell! But, I persevered a lot with this to bring this thing to life - a clear taco shell infused with corn flavour to replicate a corn tortilla!

Barry use the glycerine to make giant bubbles in the garden!!! Get a paddling pool or large bucket. Use badminton racquet or similar, hula hoop, bamboo cane tie one end with wool and form a large loop by tying other end of wool next to it. Slide one end Along to create a giant loop and dip in solution. Mega bubbles. You can put hula hoop over you to form a life size bubble! Your best bet is a paddling pool. This is mega fun. You need Ingredients: 6 cups water - tap water is fine (I used a whole bucket!) 1/2 cup dish detergent ie Fairy liquid (I used whole bottle) 1 tbsp Glycerine (actually more like the whole bottle) There are other recipes but the bigger the solution the bigger the fun!

You can use lecithin to make basil (or whatever herb/spice combo) foam. Basically, just make a basil syrup by boiling sugar water and then simmer with fresh basil. When you have the basil syrup complete, you can then add the lecithin to generate the foam. When you figure out the balance properly, you can make a delicious foam that holds its shape fairly well you can use to top a salad or other dish.

Enrico Bonomi C can make a "Kuh" sound, or a "Suh" sound... which is why it shouldn't exist it's stealing K's and S's job.

Since you're already getting lots of comments on the Glycerin, here's one for the Soy Lecithin. It's great for making sure that emulsions stay emulsified. And for emulsifying things that don't want to. For example, it can keep butter sauces like Hollandaise and Beurre Blanc from breaking and let you 'hold' them for considerably longer, even re-heat them. Also works well for Vinaigrettes. And if you check out "molecular nachos" or similar search terms, you'll find lots of info on creating smooth cheese sauces from cheeses that normally don't melt well, without needing to use a roux as a base. Lets more of the cheese flavor come through without diluting it with the starch and fats in the roux. Thanks again for the wonderful videos and the insights you give!

If you do ever try to do this again, I'd suggest lining the tin with parchment paper for structural stability and once it's dried enough to hold together, sandwich it between a second sheet and transfer it to the stand, starting with a shallower curve and increasing it as the shell dries. It'd probably take a couple of tries to get the timing right without ruining the translucency but I feel like there's a chance this method could work.
