Thanks for the information. Had my 2000 Odyssey transmission rebuilt. It's shifting hard 1st to 2nd gear (after rebuild). Codes P1738 and P1739 coming up as well as maintenance required, TCS, park brake and ABS dash lights. These codes are for the transmission oil pressure switches for 2nd gear and 3rd gear, part number 28600-P7Z-013 (according to google). I have ordered them and will replace them. Hopefully this is my fix. I will not buy another Honda again! Just posting this as information for those poor suckers ( I included) who are stuck with Honda's design faults. All the best everyone. Update: Got the pressure switches installed. All is good. Codes have cleared.

the dual solenoid has an adjustment screw that is a plastic pentagon, it controls the pressure of part or all of the shifting, it might have been set too high or was a faulty solenoid

for your 2nd generation odyssey the majority of the transmission problems are in fact not due to solenoids, it is due to the inherent flaw in the design. for the 2002-2004 a 5 speed was used and 3rd clutch tends to fail catastrophically, for the 1999-2001 like yours it is a 4 speed and 2nd gear is likely the clutch that fails. I made a 29 part series on this issue, the cause and the solution. on the first parts I even show the solenoids and taking all of them off.

I have a 2000 honda odyssey and the same thing you described is what has happened to the van. I am looking to repair it instead of scrapping it and i was wondering if you could give me some quickfire tips or solutions i can do before i spend more than i paid for it.

@@twenty7allity470 sure just look on my channel, literally parts 1 thru 29, it's 15 hours. I even have a how to remove that transmission video. Yours is a little different maybe but it will still help you. Also don't forget to replace the rear main seal while you have the transmission separated and on mine there is actually an o-ring above the rear main seal so look up your models diagram on the majestic Honda website to see if you have an o-ring near your rear main seal

thanks for posting. my van won't shift properly after getting up to temperature. I'm going to try to clean and/or switch some of these to see if it solves the issue. may have to end up pulling it out and check the torque converter too ☹️

That's a new one. I've never heard of a transmission working up to a certain temperature. Maybe it's not being cooled properly? You'll probably have to search for other videos about that. That doesn't sound like just a blocked screen; that sounds like something more serious imo.

Mine had no drive , reverse was fine. Cut off ignition then restarted and ran fine for two days. Third day it happened when I stopped and placed in park , when shifted to drive there was no pull , like in neutral , cut off and it reset. Now its getting worse , which do you recommend. Thanks

You had mentioned that the linear solenoid may cause shifting up or down problems. Have you or anybody else confirmed that's what it is? The problem I'm having, there's a delay on the up shift, then I won't shift down and it acts very droggy, as if I'm starting off in a higher gear, or it (very rarel) just slips. it will work fine for a short while, if I shut the van off then restart it.

Pulled my linear solenoid and the middle post screen was almost completely blocked with some crap seemed to be stuck to the screen. Smattened it up quite a bit but not fully other then replacing a transmission would you suggest a new linear solenoid no codes

Not if you test the solenoid separately and it's working fine. Just replace the post and screen with a new one. However, if the clogged post caused any damage to the solenoid then you should replace it.
