Transmission Problems at Donington Park - M3 MR2 Trackday

Mixed emotions from Donington Park as we snuck in a trackday before the UK restrictions were imposed last week.
Big thanks to Tom @mtrwks_tom for letting me drive his M3 once again, and to Katie from www.krfphoto.com for getting some great pics. Track Obsession hosted a great day!
Some action, and a lengthy final onboard where I say goodbye to my reverse gear after struggling to get into 5th a few times. I've swapped the gearboxes over the weekend just gone and will go into more detail in that video what I think happened.
For now, track action!

The MR2 looks like a lot more fun to drive. As a E46 owner and a MR2 owner I know this to be a fact

Dan no denying the m3 is a beast but iv got to say looking back to the way you drove the k swapped mr2 it just blew me away. Its like that type of setup was made for you. I would love to see you behind the wheel of a caterham or an atom, even a radical. You would dominate in that type of category.

@@dannyDC2 Am not talking about the one your driving in this vid you built for the mr2 series im not really a fan of it. im talking about the black one you built with the k20. Imagine this one did have a k swap tho you would come 1st every race 🤣

Nice. Love the track. How was the SMG vs your manual on track?? And did you notice the difference in standard gearing vs your 4.1 on this track?

With SMG you pull the paddles behind the steering wheel to change gear. With manual you have to press the clutch and move the stick. I don't think there's any difference in pace but I do with SMG had a wider brake pedal like a proper auto. The stock gearing is longer. There aren't many occasions where longer gearing is better.
How far in advance are you booking your track days, i had a look up north, all fully booked! Are you a member of a club?
Tom is also in the no ABS TC m3 club
Hopefully the Z30 just needs shift cables or a bush, Toyota tran's are usually pretty reliable at stock power levels, save for the synchros wearing out, at least in my experience

@@statementleaver8095 indeed statement leaver, I am quite a careful shifter so that did hurt a little bit but always interesting to see what the third parties reckon. I'll be uploading the video of the stripdown shortly. As I know what caused it (I wont ruin the surprise) your comment hurt even more haha
1:02 it's always a fking cayman/boxter that you throw the anchors on to stay out the back of lol
Hit the wall last year just past Starkey's bridge. Great track but will punish you if you get it wrong
