    the reason why you only needed 5 qts of ATF was because you only took out the fluid on the trans pan, the torque converter holds the rest so you basically mixed new and old fluid together

  • @GuyRegular

    @GuyRegular

    He originally said that flushing your transmission can damage it that's not true, it's actually a transmission fluid exchange done through the cooler lines it's no different than as you're driving the car there's fluid constantly going through the cooler lines and returning to the transmission. The reason this urban legend persists is the fact that many people whose transmission is starting to fail and the driver has noticed symptoms take the car in for a transmission flush and after the flush the problems that existed previously are still there and they eventually show up as a transmission that needs to be overhauled but of course they blame it on the flush which is nonsense.

    Frank Garcia that’s why cars with dipsticks have a mark on the stick to indicate where it should be when hot and why you must check the transmission fluid when the vehicle is running and warmed up. A dipstick is way better. At least you can check it and add fluid on the side of the road. With this set-up, you’re calling a tow truck if the fluid leaks out. You can actually buy an aftermarket pan with the dipstick included for these cars so you have an easy way to check the fluid and add it if needed.

    A flush will only exacerbate an existing transmission issue. Not cause one.

    Not always true. I did a flush through toyota on 16 camry with 30k on a car I bought brand new. Had intermittent shifting problems with ith for about 6-8 months after flush. Took it in twice but they said fluid level was good and they could not replicate problem. Over time it got better. A flush pushes fluid through trans getting all old out and new in but it also stirs up particles potentially causing shifting issues. All I know for sure is every time I have a dealer do a flush (3 times 3 diff cars) it causes issues. If I do a drain and fill as long as I do my reseach to make sure fluid compatibility is good then no issues. Doing the drain and fill is more time consuming and you may have to do it many times to get all the fluid changed but it is by far the safer bet.

    Your making inaccurate statements unfortunately.....good try but there's things not correct like the adapter for the filling and full mark

    If you take out the standpipe bolt you wouldn’t have so much left in the pan.
